Tailing the Komets

Dusty is gone

If you haven't heard, which I'm sure all of you have, it's Dusty Virag to Kalamazoo for the rights to Andrew Luciuk. Terms of the contract have been agreed upon, but there's a need to get his immigration papers in line before he can play. He's hoping to go by this weekend.

It's a shame for Dusty who has done so much for the Komets. Haven't had a chance to talk to him yet, but I'll bet he's upset.

Luciuk seems like a standup guy and said he can't wait to get here.

All of that could pale in comparison to the next move the Komets may be making, and let's put it this way, if this one works out, all Komets fans and the players will be thrilled. Pick up tomorrow's paper for more on that one. This might be exactly what the Komets need.

Another couple of things. I asked Komets GM David Franke about the Jason Kean on waivers rumors, and he said absolutely not. He also said again that Lance Galbraith has not quit the team or asked for a trade. He is simply dealing with a family problem and definitely will be back.

I'll never forgot that OT winning goal for the cup. Best of luck Dusty. Another heart and soul guy gone. I hope Lucuik can fill the power forward role, backcheck, and light the lamp for us.

Best of luck to Dustin. I hope the K-Wings fans treat him better than the Komets "fans" have. He was always a class act, my favorite player and I'll miss him. It's going to be strange to see him in a uni other than the Komets.

Dustin has unfortunently out lived his usefulness to the Komets I dont mean that negativly but a change of scenary is going to be good for him and the Komets will also benefit from this move. There are 2 other players that need to move on and I hope thats what we are going to see tomorrow.

Well if all Komet fans and players will be thrilled then I would say Venedam, Bobby Stewart, Danny Stewart, or DAB would be on their way back! We know that isn't going to happen so maybe Puhalski is gone?! We know that isn't going to happen so I'm at a loss for the next move.

Rumor has it the Franke Boys have traded long time fan favorit, Icy D.Eagle for the San Diego Chicken and cash.
Seriously I wonder if they have coaxed Kelly Perrault out of retirement or maybe it's Mr. Massie. The anticipation is killing me!

JT-

It wouldnt make sense if they coaxed Kelly Perrault out of retirement or even signed Massie..The reason I say that is, the trade they made today wouldnt make sense because then 1 vet would sit...

Geez, Blake, why'd you have to go and mention the Komets' next move?! LOL I'm all ears, wanting to know what's going to happen tomorrow. Can you give us a hint?? ;) LOL

Okay, so it can't be Venedam (we can all dream, right?)... he's still with Bakersfield, as are Massie and Kotyluk. I'm dying to know! LOL

Tom Nelson possibly? He was a very good player for us last year and he's a tweener.

Just don't forget I said "may" be happening, though I feel pretty good about it. Better than 50-50.

I can't get into guessing games because my bosses would kill me if I gave it away. For some reason they'd like to sell more newspapers. Plus, someone else might get to announce it before we do, and we'd rather that didn't happen.

I did talk to Dusty, and as usual, he was first class. I'm going to update the blog with some stuff in a little bit.

Cassidy, Massie is now with the Laval Chiefs (http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/csl.php?tid=3581). I mistakenly thought he was still with Bakersfield, but you're right, he was released a month or two ago. I'd forgotten about that! LOL

I've been racking my brain to try to figure this one out. How about a hint since we are close to print time?

I hope its something really good. I hope its something to turn the 5-11-2 Komets to date into a 35-15-8 team for the rest of the season. Its going to take 85-90 points to make the playoffs and a 40-26-10 team could just about get it done.
Too many teams to climb and too many points to make up that we cannot afford any losing streaks.

So the player that will thrill fans and players is Ed Campbell? Never would have thought of him. I'm not sure I like the idea of signing an 8th vet because then Frenchy, Chaulk, Dupuis, Neumeier, Lucuik, Guinn, Drouin, or Campbell would have to sit each game. Honestly though, does he really thrill all the fans if he signs here? Don't get me wrong, I think he would be a solid pick up but maybe there's another move yet to be made?
