You may be correct, Andy. However he did sign with Odessa last year, played 21 games with a 11-9, 3.53 GAA.

Just for comparison. Michel Robinson ( many will remember him from his Rockford days ) also played 21 games for Odessa with a 10-4-1 record and 3.40 GAA.

I know Martin isn't a guy in Fort Wayne's plans. I mentioned his name as a goaltender who could help someone. He was part of a convoluted set of circumstances last year as far as him getting called up to the NHL.

I wouldn't find it unusual at all for him to be in the CHL or ECHL next season.

Boucher is in Florida soaking up some rays at this very moment! This is via his facebook account!

If they resign Boucher the other goalie needs to be a young developmental goalie. Not yet another retread.

I was wondering if anyone heard Kent Horman's interview with Randy Brown a lil while back (week or two, maybe?)? I didnt hear it first hand; but have heard bits and piece's from someone who did listen and would like to hear some opinion's on what was discussed....

Sounds like he poo-poo'd the notion of having to own your building (at least in Ft Wayne) to be able to survive in a league like the AHL....

From Brown's prospective I'm sure he feels that way since he gives his building up rent free 30+ times a year.

It's technically rent free, but the Komets pay a bunch of money each game for use of the scoreboard, ribbon board, zamboni, press box food, etc. It ends up being a significant amount of money.

I wonder if they feel like they make their money back from the ribbon board? Can't say I looked at it much past the first time I saw it installed other than the portion of it they post the scoreboard on.

The Frankes should've invested in the Coliseum instead of a hockey team. Make money from the hockey team. Make money from concessions. Make money from advertising. Make money from ripping people off for parking. Make money from 1% of sales tax in FW.

I must admit that I watched the ribbon board many times last season. Maybe because it was so new that it caught my attention.

The new scoreboard still impresses me. I wish that there was room on the scoreboard to list all the penalty times, not just the two, four, or five minute minors. Years ago the there was enough room to list the major penalties also. I kind of miss that.

The light that I noticed the most, the one that went on so often that I swear I got a "sunburn" from, was the RED light behind the Komets' goaltenders.

Lets hope that this years K's will light up the one they shoot at and turn off the one they defend.

Any scorers signed yet? OK, OK, I'm going to go out into the nice weather and frolic and play without worrying about the Komets for awhile.

They have said many times they'd prefer to pay rent to get a percentage of all that.

Alan, the Komets goalies were right in the middle of the pack in the league for GAA......and for the kind of team we had defensively that is quite an accomplishment last season. The reason the team wasn't very good was because they were pitiful scoring goals all season. I think you've forgotten that when the team was losing at the start, they were wasting great performance by the goalies and losing games 2-1, 3-1 and the like...so I think that comment is baseless.

I hope thats not how all other free agents feel. The komets need to go hard after these players. Makes you wonder if thats why they haven't announced anything yet when other teams seem to make theirs.

Alot of pressure comes with signing to play in Fort Wayne....

He gets paid by the word as long as they are the same super sentimental stable serious strong supple severe sloppy stingy sassy stupendous syllables.

Andy, I was only kidding about being "sunburned". I know exactly what the shortcomings of last season's team was. One thing you may notice in my posts are a constant reference to signing skilled scorers ( or snipers as I sometimes call them).

At one time last season I posted about the similarity of the GAA of Fort Wayne, Colorado, and Rapid City. The post was meant to illustrate that, as the GAA were very close, the goals scored column was very different. For the most part, therein lies the difference in competing for the division lead and struggling to make a playoff spot.

Todd Robinson has signed with Evansville. I'm disappointed that the K's didn't snag him and once again I sure hope they get very involved with some proven scorers and announce them soon.

Sometimes my sarcasm gets lost in the shuffle. I was being sarcastic about the red light, but very serious regarding their recruitment and offensive needs.

Mightbite mentioned the next announcement would be Nick Boucher in a few days. Boucher deserves to have a solo announcement. However, that would mean at least another week before any other signings would be made public.

You all may call me crazy, but I'm thinking that Luciano Aquino may be a possibility.

Can't tan this week, do we have anyone signed? we only have 1/4 of a year left before the puck drops. i want to sign quinton van horlick (sp), Evansville can have that old timer.

Worried about putting all our hopes on Bouch. He was supposed to have hip surgery, which has not yet happened. He will need time to go through therapy and get his strength and mobility back. Hockey season will be here before you know it.

I think Aquino was in town several weeks ago. That would be a great signing!

Blake Sebring
Fri, 06/24/2011 - 3:54pm

If Aquino signed, he'd be taking about an 80 percent pay cut. Last I heard, Nick is not having surgery.

Komet news this week :)

1 CHL team is after Jon Mirasty & its not the Komets :(

Not sure Jon left FW on good terms with coach Sims so I would not doubt he is not interested in FW.

Who cares.....Mirasty was terrible. He can't skate. It was embarrassing seeing him out there. Sure, he can take a punch, but I'd rather have a guy like Colt King who can also put the puck in the net.
