Tailing the Komets

Enough already

Have you guys noticed of late about five of you seem to be doing 90 percent of the posting?

Hate to see what will happen when the Komets have a really bad season again. All some of you have done for the last three or four weeks is b---- about stuff. No matter what is said, there's something drastically wrong with it, and you guys are dominating the discussion. If a Komet or a Franke or a referee rescued someone from a burning building, you'd be complaining they didn't stop the fire from starting in the first place.

Go outside, get a life, go to a movie, enjoy something. The team has won 12 of its last 15! Man, you guys are bringing everyone down, and are killing the blog. Get some perspective! Go do something fun, because you are sure taking a lot of the fun out of this. That has become who can complain the most, the loudest, the longest. What's the point? If you were going to convince anyone, it sure would have happened a long time ago by now.

This is not talk radio -- thank goodness. You're obviously not enjoying this, so why do you keep at it? I don't understand.

OK, I'm done venting. I was in a really good mood today before I started reading the blog. Aw, crap, some of you must be rubbing off on me.

some people are positive. some people are negative. that's the way it is. no one is able to change someones personality. no matter what is done, some people will not be happy for whatever reason some of which are legitimate and some are not. i think as the operator of the blog it is important to keep that in mind. when i read posts such as the one above, i don't even want to get back on here. it makes me feel like everyone's complaints/opinions are not valued. i am not a negative person, but i want more out of the komets because i love the komets! i don't post all my complaints on here, but that doesn't mean i don't think them. i am also thankful for everything that the komets do that other teams do not do.

the take away point from this is to have thick skin. going off on people for their opinions is a big turn off. i hope the point is well taken...

Thank You Blake!!!

I know alot of people that read your's and Cohn's blog but none of they ever comment on anything cause it's not worth getting chewed out if you say something wrong. Maybe pass the word to Cohn next time you see him.

But seriously Thank You for all the hard work you do in keeping us all update on the team we love.....no matter how much they b---- about them!!!

Blake judging from my last post in the other thread I think your bad mood is spreading.

Blake,

I agree that it gets old hearing the same stuff every day. Sadly, some people are'nt happy unless they have something to complain about.

It seems like you need a change of pace...even if it's only for a day....come over to my house this Saturday afternoon...we're going to work on the hot rod Cadillac -- it's going to get the rims cleaned and painted red, install some chrome plated baby moons and have a cookout in the backyard.

It's going to be a blast--especially taking the car for a spin in the addition!

I don't believe that there should be any "chewing out" of anyone's opinion. That is the point of my post... That means ANYone :) even those negative nellies. just think of it this way...they will all die young of heart attacks from letting everything stress them out!

You are the gatekeeper or is it keymaster, just start deleting them, once I see a post going stupid or something we have talked about a million times I just move on.

I'd like to know who is going to make the 4th playoff spot and why and the why part based on fact based data and a little gut feel.

I would like to see Bloomington in the playoffs both because I think they are an entertaining team and also I think it would be good for the league to have them in there.

You really think you can tell people to get a life? Do we want to compare what we have/are all doing? It takes about three seconds to write a blog from my phone. Granted, we can't all be big-timers doing "In the Zone" interviews in highwater blue jeans and white sneakers, but the rest of us do manage to have lives. Since you do so much, Blake Zen Master, tell us about your family. Are you running all over with your kids? Playing lots of sports? Have tons of hobbies? Or do you just write about what other people do with their lives because maybe you don't have one of your own?

Yes, I blog on here a lot and check it quite often because I like hearing what my fellow fans have to say and I love to argue with them if we do not agree. If we do agree, or they prove me wrong, I love that too. Get over yourself, you're not as big as you think you are. Granted, you have a few on here who will blow smoke at you all day and boost your ego, but you are no celebrity. People don't shout your name when you walk around and the vast majority of people in Fort Wayne couldn't care less about having you sign any of your books that you push down our throats on here. Why don't you write an "Enough Already" about book advertisements?? Sales going so well that you need to drop your prices to move them?

I'm not even going to bother writing any more since this one will get deleted. Was I harsh? Absolutely. A lot of good people on here keep you in work, pal, and crapping on them for BLOGGING on a BLOG is a pretty dumb thing to do. Yes I understand you dont' make money from the blog, but you do make money from people buying the papers that you BEG us to buy when one of your features comes out. Maybe they don't teach simple business in whatever big-time journalism school you went to. I'll let you go now, I'm sure ESPN is trying to call you.

OK, I should not have said get a life. I apologize for that. I stand by the rest of it.

Again, I get not one dime for the blog. It probably costs me money in the long run as far as antacids, alcohol, hair plugs, professional counseling, etc.

The whole point is, this is supposed to be a fun thing. Not sure that's happening much lately.

Good knowing you Frozen.

I would like to say sorry. I apologize. I get the message. I won't tell it like it is any longer.

I will try to get a life.

I am an idiot.

I love the Komets and the IHL. Whatever the price is for tickets...I will pay it. We are really undercharged if you think about it. They should raise the lower level seats to $1200 a seat. That would be fair and fine by me.

The players on this team are great. I enjoyed the games this past weekend alot. Win or lose, it is just a game. Can't wait to watch the upcoming games. Go Komets.

I am happy.

Robin Bouchard is my new favorite pal. I love that guy. He dedicated his 681st goal to me. He told me he was going to pump his fist and then point at me. What a guy. I just wish the Lumberjacks would remain in this league. I love that team. Great group of guys over there. I was thinking about starting a petition to try and change the owners mind to stay in this league. Man I will miss them. Maybe they could be in 3 leagues next year so we don't miss out on them. Makes me sad.

I played baseball in the street today. Fun stuff. I hit one to the end of the street and made my nephew run after it....LOL It was awesome. I felt like Sammy Sosa, minus the steroids, minus the Dominican Republic Citizenship, minus the corked batt, you know, just like him but different. I even poured a cup of water over my head and did the chest pounding and pointing to the clouds thing.

I can't afford to go to the movies. They charge more than a Midwestern USA Men's Minor League Hockey team to see a movie and eat popcorn and sip on pepsi cola. I do like that Redbox though. Sweetness in a vending machine. That's what I say. Pure sweetness baby.

I watched that one show, you know the one on tv that comes on at 8pm on Thursday nights that is strange. It was odd. I liked it though. What is the deal with the English accents and the black crows dying and the guy that seems like a bad guy and then a good guy and then a bad guy and then a good guy. Man that show confuses me. You know.

Where do you buy those Foo Fighter drinks at Burgee? I want to get one next game. That would be Kool.

Have a good night kids. Go Komets.

Love,

Hit Somebody!!!

PS: JungleMonkey wants on the GOTW interview list....He emailed me and wanted to know how to go about it. He would be awesome at it. He is a little camera shy though. So please, please, please...be easy on the kid.

Which admendment is it again that pertains to freedom of speech??? I always forget darnit...

Complaining about the complainers isnt complaining.... Right?

I guess some Komet fans just cant handle the truth as other fans see it.

I was told by someone that posts on other hockey sites that she and many others like her do not post on this site because of those who will bash when anything that can even remotely be interpreted as a slight towards the Komets is posted... Maybe some should look in the mirror before blaming others...

This negative fair weathered nellie fan will be going on about his 200th road trip to see the team that I seem to hate (according to others) and will be joined by another negative fair weathered season ticket holding nellie fan to watch the K's last regular season game in Muskegon... God, I hate this team!

Thanks to all of those who have regularly bashed, and been overly critical of the opinion's I have shared on this opinion driven blog...

I also thank you blake... Its obvious it struck home with a few and got under their skin, but thats what you need to do. Maybe now we'll get some other people posting on here and not be afraid of being chastised for posting one iota of good thought. I like the team, I think they are doing excellent this year. We're in second place and have won every game we deserved, maybe a few we should've have deserved. Anyway.... Thanks again... Democrats vs. Republicans
"Negative Nellies" vs. "Positive Petes"

Everyone who doesn't agree with you is an idiot. No common ground. No need to state your opinion when you can attack another persons. Mystery people who can't post because thier opinion will be attacked. Suggestions of deleting those who don't conform...

It is minor league hockey, but its becoming a microcosm of society. Everyone is unhappy, complaining about something... who they didn't elect, Glenn Beck, socialism, the price of milk...

I think STH have a right to voice thier opinion on the prices and benefits of being a STH... Some people need to remember that they get "corporate perks" and don't really get treated the same as others.

People have opinions, and I haven't seen anyone reduce it to name calling or personal attacks.. Unless you consider the "negative nellie" nonsense to be that... I don't.

If the tone of this blog is to be controlled, then that needs to be stated. I realize that it isn't a democracy, and I personally am fine with that. Perhaps some ground rules should be stated if comments deemed "negative" are not welcome.

To everyone reading and posting their opinions on this or any other blog:

Keep posting!!! Let Mr. Sebring complain about things. Let others "bash" your posts. They live for it! If you want to disagree with that, just go back and re-read the threads. Some threads have over 50+ posts. How can that be bad? The best part is, the ones who are complaining about all the negative posts are the ones who constantly bring it up. Hmmm, something to think about.

I'll say it again, and again, and again, if you don't like what is stated, skip the post. You don't have to agree with everything or anything on here. Their opinions for goodness sakes.

I'm not a negative nellie, I'm in no way a postivie pattie, I am a realistic renegade. If you don't like it, so be it. Not my problem.

To JR; FrozenWater; HitSomebody, Alan, and even RunningKomet (who hasn't posted in a great time) - keep it coming, I LOVE IT!!!

the problem is with the few who say you cant handle the truth is ,the truth you spout is just your opinion. and when someone says different you call them idiots . i try to back up my posts with facts and i do get overboard a few times cause its easy to do, but the whole thing is summed up by the few of you who are now trying to tell blake how to run HIS OWN BLOG! thats the negative nellies thing. its his blog, fact. he can run it any way he wants fact. if you dont like it then go to cohns or start your own blog, fact but stop telling him how to do his own thing. youre all like the perosn who always argues with their boss about anything and everything and then cant understand why they get no raise or get passed over or why they get let go. you make rules for yourself unless you are in the posotion to make the rules and then you are boss. its not a democracy when you are the boss.

So much for the truce!

OK, I haven't posted on here for a week now. I decided that I was just going to sit by and read what everyone else had to say about stuff. After reading the thread at the top, I have to admit that I am confused.

My confusion stems from the fact that I must not understand the word "negative". What in the world is so "negative" about stating one's opinion ( as long as it is done in a respectful manner.) How many times have I posted that? Blake, if you consider me as one of your negative posters I will tell you right now that I take that as in insult. My posts, though long, have always tried to incorporate facts to back up my opinions. Sometimes those opinions may not sit well with everyone, but at least they are honest. Everyone has the right to differ with me and challenge me on them. I expect and welcome those challenges. I have never purposely tried to hurt anyone, make light of anyone, or treated anyone on this blog in a disrespectful manner. When I see things that are good, I comment on them. Likewise, when I see things that could be improved on I will comment on those, too.

My advice to all the bloggers is this: keep doing what you are doing. "To thine own self be true."

I'm going to change the subject a bit here. I've been thinking about something for a week now and I really want to post it.

Every year, as the season begins to wind down, I always have this thought. "Who are we watching on the ice for the last time". Each year players retire and sometimes we forget to appreciate and enjoy their contributions. This year is no exception. The fluidity of minor league hockey has never been so apparent. With it will come many changes and I think we will see some of our Fort Wayne favorites decide to leave the game. One or two will have a banner raised at the Coliseum eventually. I just wanted to make sure everyone, who cares, will take a moment during the games to etch into their memory banks the players they may never see again. With a few games left in the season and the playoffs coming up we have time ( for the last time ) to watch these guys and applaud them.

( Please notice how I have mastered the art of paragrahing to make it easier for those who choose to read my posts. I do listen to others and here is proof of that.)

Blake, once again, if I am a problem on your blog then let me know immediately and I will stop posting. I do have a life. There is Komet hockey, women, golf, women, drinking and goofing around with my friends, women, baseball, women, playing cards, women, and work.

Frozen Water
Mon, 03/22/2010 - 8:35am

I guess here is the one thing I notice that is consistent... While there are several of US who are posting more than others, we are at least posting about HOCKEY. We are not talking about redheads, pills, drinks, fruit cakes, tanning, or anything else that has nothing to do with hockey. We are just plain talking hockey.

As far as the negative people calling anyone else idiots... I seriously cannot recall once that anyone has called someone else an idiot on here, let alone one of the "Nellies" calling someone an idiot for being positive. The only name-calling I've seen at all has actually been appearing in the actual posts.

Chuckitt, I do agree that you tend to post stats more often than not when you are backing your stuff up, and even when we disagree, I like reading your stuff because of that. Currently though, I do not agree with your Marxist approach to the blog. If he just wanted his opinions to be put out there with no chance for differing opinions to emerge, he probably would've just kept writing things in the paper and not started a blog. Correct?

Hit: Another masterpiece. That ranks up there with some of your better posts and that's saying quite a bit.

JR: I'm glad I do not have to worry about disagreeing with you very often.

JM: I agree. If we are only to conform, please state that.

Andrea: You don't say much, but each time you do I take the time to stop and read because you are well thought out and your points always hit the mark.

Andrea
Mon, 03/22/2010 - 8:35am

Chuckitt -

I understand and see what you are saying. I have stated many times that this is all opinion, as I did in my post above. However, people on here (and not all) have been critical of others comments; their opinions; to the point where they are attacking their writing styles; information, etc.

I stated on another thread that I was curious as to how that was acceptable. Why can't I post something that I deem as logical, informative (I also, like you, do my best to back up what is said with facts) and then some on here feel it is alright and necessary to criticize my opinion because simply don't agree? I'm getting tired of the 'do as I say and not as I do' approach to this. It does not bother me when someone disagrees. What bothers me is when we can't discuss the issues/topics on the thread without someone taking it upon themselves to attack another person.

As far as the running of the blog - let Mr. Sebring do what he wants. However, I don't believe it is smart to antagonize people who are participating in the blog. You don't have to agree with them. Make sure the posts are kept clean, and go from there. I don't believe that any of this would have been an issue today if this thread wasn't started. Mr. Sebring started this thread, his right, and I, like you and others have responded. He got what I believe he wanted: a reaction. Why do I say this; because he is smart enough to know that people aren't just going to sit on this one.

Chuckitt - I enjoy reading your posts. You have great ideas, and I can see that you have a passion for Komet hockey. We may not always agree but we can agree to disagree. I just wish more could do that.

A recreational activity such as a hockey team should not provoke the general anger that some of you seem to have about the ownership and the league. As I said in the other post if you don't like the product, don't buy it. As consumers that is the ultimate statement you can make. Yes, stating well thought out criticism of the team as a consumer is fine. But some of the crap on this blog directed at ownership and the players comes across as nothing but petty anger and when it gets to that point, just walk away and find something else to do. That goes for the hockey team, this blog, what restaurant in town you go to, where you shop for food and everything else in life that you still are allowed to choose for yourself in this socialimocracy we live in.

You are absolutely right Mr. Sebring. I have seen too many of these types of blogs die due to dominance of a few. I do not mind people venting on the Komets - if you are a professional player, it goes with the territory. What does happen is that people vent on other participants on the blog - that is not good. It drives others away.

Sometimes, Mr. Sebring, some of the participants treat this as their personal Twitter space. There are things discussed on here that I do not have a clue about, and I have to sort through those to find news or inside info on the Komets.

What you said above is fine - also needed. What the participants need to do is read and heed. There are many, many, many of us who abosolutely agree with Mr. Sebring. We participate once in a while - then wait for personal comments.

It would be nice if the 5 or 6 who dominate would just take a 1 month sabatical. The results may be interesting.

You all have posted "Great" stuff. While I will admit to knowing some of you better than others and posting about which color of pills one might be taking or Foo Foo's drank. I avoid as much as possible negative things. I never want anyone to take anything I post as personal. Absolutely no one. I try to the best of my ability to be informative and still have little bit of fun. It is after all the largest reason we do this. I may have crossed that line a couple of times and have always came back and apologized to whomever I may have offended. That doesn't mean I will not do it again but never on purpose. Some people need to understand the responsability that Blake has to monitor his blog. Lots and lots of work. He must answer to his boss or bosses for things that may not be appropreate. I think he is just asking all of us to be respectfull of what I am sure is a major headache to police. I think (I can't be sure) that he lets us pretty much say what we want. We just don't see those that go to far. I for one appreciate that effort he puts in 24/7 so we can hammer (if you will) each other. Hammer is a term of indearment. OK you all can "hammer" me now!
