Exceptional Ivy Tech

If there's an exception to the guideline that the state should cut all spending in tough economic times, maybe it should be for Ivy Tech:

Rapidly growing Ivy Tech Community College could consider capping enrollment statewide during the next school year because of budget worries.

One of the reasons for the rapid growth of Ivy Tech, which has more than 120,000 students on 23 campuses, is that so many people are losing their jobs, which sends some of them back to class to learn a different profession. Getting more of them back into the work force would seem to be good for the economy in the long term, so maybe cutting Ivy Tech's funding would be counterproductive.

Going back to school is not only mentally stimulating. It also keeps old flatulators off the street and their ammunition at home.
