Tailing the Komets

Expectations for tonight

Are they done or do you think they are just getting started? My feeling is that they haven't even come close to playing good hockey yet, and it's still there if they can play smart on the road. I think the pressure is all on Rockford.

What do you think? I'm headed west.

There's always hope but I fear it will be too litle too late. This is not the same as last year and to campare it to such is ridiculous. My feeling is that they're done within the next three games.

If they play 60 minutes like they did in the first period of game 3....we'll win. If they play like the other 220 minutes, we're talking about next year.

Anybody seen the team that played in the K's uniforms the last two regular season games? I'm afraid that if that team doesn't show up tonight, they will be heading for the nearest golf course!

The pressure is on Rockford, the longer the series goes the more last year will creep into their minds. If we can win tonight, the momentum will be on our side. I understand that we need 2 games on the road, but game 7 would be a toss up. Tonight we find out the heart of our team.
Good Luck Guys, Go Komets!!!!

Just like in baseball where the toughest 3 outs are those in the ninth - the toughest game to win is the clincher. Rockford has 3 shots at it though.

Can the K's play aggressive without bad penalties? Have they done it yet this year?

I think the biggest concern is just helping out Frenchy. They can't leave him left out to dry. Maybe that comes from Rockford just being a quicker team though.

Not many point blank shots for the K's.

I'll give it to them. 3-2 K's, maybe overtime.

If the Komets can score first two goals of the game, and get the early momentum, the crowd can be taken out of the game. Rockford will begin to press to do better in front of their fans and we will be playing hockey on Saturday.

If the Ice Hogs score first and the crowd gets rolling then we will be talking about the end of season jersey auction.

I do not believe that the Komets were overrated this season or playing aboving their potential. This season the Komets were not a finace, gritty, or speedy team. The one and only thing that they have going for them is that they are a hard working team. However when even a few players aren't working hard, the whole team suffers tremendously. My prediction is the K's will take this game. I'm not looking for a repeat of last season however.

It is going to be much tougher this year. Game 7 is away. The only good thing (for both teams) is that it is not 3 games in 3 nights if it goes 7 like it was last year.

My heart is telling me they can do it, but my head is saying they're done. As much as I hate to say it, I just don't think this team can repeat last year's "miracle on ice". Without Chaulk and Neumeier we are up a creek!

What I think...is that I am tired of hearing negativity from all of the fans. Who even needs fans if, when the team needs them the most, they are already outloud...or quietly counting them out!

So! Being a life long Komet Fan...despite my years in Chicago and in Massachusetts...and now back around here...

Don't count ANYONE out! If our boys really want this...its their series to have. Yes...I hear those who tell me I am naive. But its not your job to say so....

I am going to sit right here (wishing I were in Rockford tonight) Cheering on our boys!!! GO KOMETS!!!!!

The Komets are done!!!! We can discuss all the reasons why they are in the position they are in, but it would take far too long. EVERYONE in the Komets organization shares blame as far as I am concerned, especially the Frankes. The player personnel decisions last summer were bad and they have been scrambling ever since. Our defense is BRUTAL right now, our discipline as far as taking penalties has been bad all year long, and our veterans have disappeared again. I am rooting for the Komets to win tonight, but I am not holding my breath..... Go Komets!!!

It is easy to look back in retrospect and say their choices last summer were bad. I certainly don't remember anyone thinking they were in trouble before the season started. Most everyone thought bringing back the core of last years team was a good idea. It may have been. In retrospect the original replacements they got for guys like Townsend, Nemeth and others didn't work out and injuries to Kean and others could not have been predicted. My biggest issue was the backup goaltender. I know Cory Campbell was injury prone and maybe for some reason he didn't want to come back but if he did, having a decent backup early this season would have made a difference. Campbell did not play this year and Tyler Masters also did not play after his early release. The goalie merry go round hurt this team early on as much as anything and cost them home ice advantage during at least part of the playoffs.

The losses of Venedam and Grenville were the biggest Tony. Those two guys did all the right things on the ice. You could always count on them to score, but they also made everyone around them look so much better. I say the Komets must bring Venedam back, keep Kelly Miller and look to a big-time Goalie like a Tom Lawson or Michel Robinson next year. Galbraith back is a must, if Chaulk can play he is a must, I know I am leaving others out, but the guys mentioned would be a strong foundation for next year.

I think they win tonight, and tomorrow night, and we will be battling another game 7 in Rockford. Can you say CHOKE!!!

There was nothing the Komets could have done to bring back Vene this year. If you stick with the notion of three veteran defensemen, three veteran forwards and a veteran goaltender, Hit, you've already filled your alottment of forwards right there, and that's providing they can get Vene back, which I kind of doubt. The issue wasn't money or not liking playing here. It was something else the Komets have no control over, and no, I'm not getting into it because it is his business. Nothing illegal or unethical, just personal.

One thing we haven't been doing much of is giving Rockford a ton of credit which the IH deserve. They have simply been the hungrier team and using their third goaltender to boot. That earns a ton of respect.

Sometimes you just have to give credit to the opponents, as much as that hurts. The IH have worked their a----- off in this series.

As for Puhalski showing emotion, I saw him talking to the players on the bench more than ever last night. Also, do you really think the Komets would have had the maturity and calm to come back from 3-1 last year with a yeller and a screamer behind the bench? Really think about that.

Blake, Amen to everything except Puhlski. I hav forgotton that Rockford has taken advantage of our every mistake and out played us in almost every game.

If that is my allotment for forwards, then I say do it. I am sure lots of people will role their eyes at Kelly Miller being a guy to bring back. But I stand behind the fact that he plays with the heart and determination that this team needs to be successful. You need a guy who fears nothing and will give you his best effort everytime out. He also is a great skater and PK guy as well. Would Michel Robinson be considered a Veteran next year? I think Troy should be back for another year. He still is solid. After him, I don't know who to say at this point as far as D-men go?

well......if they lose tonight, you can't blame the refs. Too many men on the ice with the period almost over after they grind out a slim lead. That leaves me shaking my head.

What the heck is with the line combos? Is this coach losing his brain? I am seeing comments on the other blog site that Chief Puldumbski is not giving Kelly Miller a normal shift. What is the deal? He has fallen in love with Milam and Konning. PC is still playing center too. Coach made the comment in the pregame interview that when the team loses that he deserves the blame because he is responsible for getting his team prepared and leading them. Well blame, blame, blame. Shame on him for excluding Chaulker from this team in the playoffs and brilliant job of pairing the lines. I know we had injuries, but this was a team not ready to play the playoffs. And we lose. Get your resume ready Chief Pulsleepsky.

Well folks...let the second guessing and "what ifs" begin. I think they came a long way from the start of the season, were beaten and outplayed by a better team in the playoffs. Tonight we will get the emotional reaction, in a few days when everyone calms down I will be interested to see what folks think the team should do with the players on this roster.

Great comeback after a horrible start....Not gonna get into the "what if's" cause there is no use; but I bet we hear the "we need to get bigger" speech again this off season.... My thanks to all the K's who played hard this year, I hope to see at least a couple of ya back next year...

Thanks Komets for another season. Pretty disappointed, but hey, all in all it's just a game. I'll be here next season.

I agree, gotta root for Kalamazoo here on out.

Did anybody else listen to Chase's closing interview with Franke? Franke said this will be the last time we see most of these guys in a Komet uniform and went on to say there will be a large overhaul of players in the next few months.....
