This is from the Muskegon Lumberjacks
The name on the back of the jersey can sometimes mean as much to a community as the name on the front. When mentioning Muskegon professional hockey, it is a name that cannot be ignored. Kharin is written throughout the Muskegon record books. Sergei Kharin wore #16 for 5 seasons with the Muskegon Fury of the Colonial Hockey League (CoHL) and later when it became the United Hockey League (UHL). Now his son Anton dons the #16 sweater for the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the International Hockey League (IHL).
On Friday, April 10, 2009, Muskegon hockey makes history as they add another chapter to their storied 49 years of professional hockey! Sergei will come out of retirement for one game to play on a line with his son. They will become the first father and son to skate together in the IHL!

How cool is that!
That's nice. But isn't this the kind of "gimmick" that you were griping about when Flint announced that Rheaume would be in goal one night? Granted, Sergei has a history with the team, but still.
I'm not disagreeing. Is there any difference between this and what the Komets did bringing Steve Fletcher back for a game? Hmm. What do you think?
I agree,I'm getting tired of these gimmicks. How can anyone look at this league and take it seriously? The kind of stunts other leagues use in the preseason to draw fans we do in the regular season.Somebody put a tent on this circus!
And I'm not complaining. I like gimmicks. They're fun. People like them. And it isn't just the IHL. Okay, I'm not aware of other leagues bringing in special "one night only" players, but they have other gimmicks they try. Hey, whatever works.
IT IS A BUSINESS AFTER ALL. THERE ARE PLAYERS THAT DESERVE SPECIAL NIGHTS. FLETCH WAS ONE OF THOSE NIGHTS. A FATHER AND SON PLAYING TOGETHER IS ANY CITY IN ANY LEAGUE IS ONE OF THE HIGHEST COMPLIMENTS YOU CAN PAY THE PREVIOUS PLAYER. HE IS A WELL RESPECTED AND LOVED MUSKEGON PLAYER. I AM SURE MR. HOCKEY GORDY HOWE HAD THE GREATEST HONOR PLAYING WITH HIS SONS AND WOULD AGREE WITH ME. DID THE KOMETS NEED MOHAMMAD ALI? PROBABLY NOT. WAS IT A FUN NIGHT? SURE! THE FANS SURE ATE IT UP. JUST MADE FOR GOOD BUSINESS. TO ME THIS IS REALLY NOT A ISSUE.
