Can someone please give an explanation of the events at the end of the game?

OH GEORGE

Really fast here you go.

The game was hard fought the whole way. There was a lot of hitting and talking the whole game. With just a few seconds left in the game, the Thunder were awarded a penalty shot bc someone fell on the puck. Nick stopped the penalty shot and made some hand gestures at the Thunder goalie, Majors (sp?) like I am the best and you stink (words are nice here!). Majors lost it and took off after Nick. Linesman broke it up before he got to Nick. Majors through the linesman down several times. The other players on the ice then started going. pretty much everyone had someone else.

Then, ...

With two seconds left in the game Coach Thunder through out his goons. Schrock was jumped and the other K players squared off after being somewhat jumped themselves.

Oh George you missed it!!

make that coach thunder threw out his goons...

The ks all held there own in my opinion considering the circumstances.

Lots of suspensions to come.

In my opionion it all started because Boucher doesn't have a backbone. He was challenged at the end of the first period and skated to the lockerroom. After he made the penaltyshot save he thought he was invincable and jestered towards the Thunder bench, then malee began. I wonder how the Komet higherarchy feel about the actions of their Golden goalie, since he clearly is not a role model, for family entertainment.

Scott save your family entertainment crap for another day. Our goalie was taunted since warm ups.why should he fight and risk injury ? Wichita losing maggers is no big deal, komets losing boucher is big deal. I'm sure your kiddies have been exposed to much worse than a gesture on the local playground . GET REAL!

First of all, Hockey is an extremely physical sport which includes fighting, this is something that everyone who walks into the arena should know. If you want Disney quality family entertainment then stay home and watch barney or rainbow brite. I am so sick of people coming to the games and complaining about what the Komets should be doing and what they should not be doing, Seriously, to complain about something that half the people in the arena didnt even see is stupid, we see more not so family entertaining situations out in the general public every day.
How may times have you seen a opposing player make all kinds of gestures through out a game, and dont sit to close to the ice because I am pretty sure you will hear some offensive words come out of the mouths of the just about every Komet player on the ice..so that's ok?
Boucher is a very competitive player, we all know that, well I guess the real Komet fans know that..however, as a human being, you have a breaking point, and Mr. Magers got Boucher to that breaking point.
Bottom line is, you have the option to stay home at any point, you never know how a hockey game will turn out, furthermore, the game was already in a downward spiral and anyone who knows the game of hockey, knew something was bound to happen, did you not read the paper about the game the night before or were you one of the fans that left with 5 mins left in the game because the Komets were losing?
I love hockey, all of it, the fights, the bad calls, the garbage goals, the wins, the losses and even the occasional gesture by a player, that is what Hockey is and yes, you have to take the good and bad part of the game. Its Hockey, you never now how it will turn out until the last whistle blows and everyone is off the ice.
Great Weekend for the Komets! Lets Keep it rolling boys!

I've seen Worse in person at NFL and NHL games, even the crowds, someone got removed in my section at every Colts game this year, last year in Philly some jackwagon called my 13 year old an "A" hole and I'm pretty sure we all have read the lips of NFL coaches when something doesn't go right, Rex Ryan and the last loss?!

MAgers is still upset about the Morency beatdown he got a few years back.

So don't pick on Fort Wayne, we're 1 of how many hundreds of professional teams?

The role model should be the parent explaining the situation and whether they think it is right or wrong, take the opportunity and make your kids better people for it.

Boucher never asked to be your kids role model, Scott. Maybe you have a parenting issue if your kids are looking to a minor league goaltender as their role model.

Boucher not having "backbone" is an absurd statement to make. Why should our #1 goalie who was shutting down everything that came his way fight the Thunders #2 goaltender at the end of the first period.

Magers is quite the role model, isn't he? Tossing officials around.

I was happy to see Pete Cichy get a good throwing though, I just hope he's as big of a girl about this obvious abuse as he was when he skated over MacMillan's skate last season.

I will be really looking forward to see what the suspension time is for Magers....better be pretty lengthy. I was one who was supportive of Mac when everything went down here that Halloween, and supported him when things went down in Colorado. Just hope everything is done fairly and that this jerk gets as lengthy of a suspension (actually a longer one), since what he did was FAR worse than Mac, in my opinion of course. Magers quite deliberately threw this official to the ground several times, while Mac sorta bumped into his on the way to get to someone else. Fine that he got suspended....just saying what's good for the Mac better be worse for the Magers.

Everyone is missing the fact that Magers would shoot pucks at Boucher during warm ups and that he threw things at him after the first period.

Tell the kids that he is standing up for himself and celebrating the fact that he just stopped a penalty shot which is VERY difficult on a quality player.

Hockey= not for babies

I am sure Dave Franke is really upset at Nick.....laughable.

Dave was blowing the goal horn after the fights in Rhythm to Dave's repititive "Up Yours" signals to the Wichita Goon Squad (that would be the one arm across and one arm underneath in an upward motion, for those of you playing at home of course.....) LOL

What a perfect game it really ended up being.

a) They won.

b) The crowd was louder than I have heard it in a long long long long long long long long long long long....time.

c) 99.9% were cheering the fights louder than the goals. Except Scotty and his precious eyes and ears of course that were being polluted by such evil madness.

d) There were nearly 10,000 people there.

e) Very entertaining game throughout with alot of drama, alot of action, and everyone was into the game.

f) This was the ultimate chance to get "New Fans" with the Report Card Night crowd.

So to summarize......

Scott's panties are in a bunch.

Komet Nation is at a high-point. Winning games, entertaining the crowds.

Nasty is on the way.

Better lock the doors and hide under the table Scott!!!

LOL

As I'm sure everyone else was, we were surrounded by kids last night. What stood out this time is they were mostly girls, young girls, a whole passel of them. They all went nuts during the fights, yell'in, whooping and hollering. I thought I was going to loose it just watching them jump up and yell and cheer during the fights.

Their mothers (funny, no dads in this group) looked at them kind of funny during the first fight and smiled, by the end of the game they were yelling and applauding too.

From an audience standpoint I'm not always too happy with games like report card night because it puts so many noobies in the stands who don't know the basics of not blocking the isles, standing up, coming and going during play, etc. I'm glad they are there, I just wish more announcements would be made at quiet times to educated them on these basics and the redcoats would enforce them.

Last night I had a ball watching the reaction of these girls to the game, it more then made up for some of the other minor inconveniences. All and all a good time.

I wonder how many of these girls will play hockey and/or grow up to be hockey moms. They're already yelling like hockey moms. :-)

Scott: willing to bet you dont go to many hockey games. You are entitled to your opinion of course. However yours is just plain wrong. Read the excellent post by Janice in response to your post. Maybe just maybe you may learn something. Hockey games will get very intense at times. Sat. Night was one of those times. This is rivalry building type of game here. Not a junior high badminton tourney. Janice what you said cannot be improved on! Wtg Janice.
