Tailing the Komets

On Frenchy/vacation

He said nothing was decided today and he's supposed to meet with the Frankes again on Wednesday. There's some obvious thawing going on, and as he said, ``We're still talking.'' It could go either way.

All right, now I'm officially on vacation, but I'll be checking in. Hit, Skate, Tony, JM, JR, Mark and Chuckitt. You guys are in charge with help from Bob and Greg. Make sure things maintain the proper standard. I was going to say you guys were in control, but we all know that's not true. If you guys don't keep things semi-calm, I'll call in reinforcements from Ashley and Shutterbug, and none of you want that to happen, right Tony?

Oh Lord, what am I doing, giving Hit Somebody and Jungle Monkey any kind of power? Shows how desperate I am for a vacation.

Have fun. I plan on it.

Ya gotta throw in Mario Laroque in there too. Having a big no nonsense defenseman guarding the crease is something we havent had in awhile.... I doubt he's gonna stand aside if someone runs our goalie...

I'm sad to say that the gravy train ends after 2nite....lol until the next guy goes on vacation....

I did have an unfortunate experience, one that I hope to never encounter again. I was taking a gulp of coffee when i had a hiccup and hot coffee shot out of my nose...I thought I was gonna die...lol And of course it went all over my paperwork, keyboard, etc...

That sounds like a serious job hazard there. You better check that out with the Safety Committee. Sounds like a real issue. You may want to call your Union Rep and get some time off paid for that incident...lol

It is kind of like you got called up to the big leagues long enough for the All-Star first baseman to come back from the injured list. Once you get a taste of the show...you will never want to get sent back down to the minors. We are all proud of you for getting the chance though. How does it feel to be Blakes? MAN!

Hit, I am not worried at all on who the K's will sign this year because I dont think they would have gone with thetype of coach they did and then not let him sign his type of players.

I bet Blakes is trying to sleep right now in paradise (New Mexico) and Rob Guinn is pounding pucks past his bed showing him the proper techniques of icing the puck....and the only thing Blakes can think about is...I wonder what the Blog will look like when I get back. Poor guy. We miss you Super Fan. If Guinn gives you too much shat, just drop the gloves...because Rob Guinn has forgotten more about fighting, than the French.

It will be interesting to see which players the Komets sign in the next few weeks.
I am hoping for a return of an "Ice Patrol" line.

Ahh....I love the sound of bone jarring (or breaking!) collisions with the boards and plexiglass! Those were wonderful times.

I remember one night when Fletcher hit someone so hard (yet a clean hit!) into the boards that they just shook and vibrated for about 30-40 seconds afterwards! The player taking the hit could barely skate back to his bench.

AAAaaaahh yes, I believe we may see some of the ol days this year...scoring, defense, and definite toughness.... Now as long as the Frankes keep their word and give us the type of team we've been longing for, we as fans need to bring back the Jungle. Make this truly the place where other teams DO NOT want to come to play...

I dont know if you guys saw this or not; but Darryl Sutter stepped down as the coach of the Calgary Flames and from the sounds of it Jim Playfair will be named the next coach. Of course some of you will remember Playfair from the ol K's/Indy wars when he was the property of the Blackhawks in the IHL....Just thought I'd pass that along.

As far as Blake and where is he, Hopefully home getting some sleep.

as for the two Komets I would like to see back from last year. Dupuis and Milam.

As far as the draft picks that would work in Bingham's system. We don't know that much about his system, we haven't seen it in action in a couple of years so I'll let him decide.

As far as Frenchy. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't believe Frenchy is willing ot take a reduced roll wiht the team which means if he's signed he'll get the majority of the playing time and you can kiss getting a decent back up good bye.
I have no problem wiht goaltending by committee if you can get the right tandem, look at Fernandez and Roloson the year Minnesota went to the Western Conference Finals. The Wild did go with the hot goaltender after that. Look at the Hurricane this year. Gerber and Ward played. Gerber went into the playoffs as the number one, lost the first two games, Ward came in, got into trouble and was spelled by Gerber and then came back in to win the cup. Yes Ward was a rookie but a good rookie who knew he could have a chance to play. If Frenchy is signed I doubt the back up would get the chace to play.

I'm hoping to see Frenchy back in goal, but I also believe that we need a good solid backup, unlike Kurk was last season. I agree that the backup should play more often. I guess if Frenchy wants to have a job here, he will probably have to deal with not playing as many games as he usually does. When he's hot, leave him in. Don't take him out like Puhalski has done several times in the past. During regular runs, let the backup play about every 3-4 games. I also really would like to see Guy and Kelly Miller back. I liked the team mentioned by hit, but leave out Duhart. once a dirtbag, always a dirtbag.

Greg

That dirtbag can put the puck in the net and that's the one thing I've seen time and agin on this blog, the lack of a true goal scorer, Duhart is that player.

I have said it before and I will say it again. If Jim Duhart plays next year the way he is capable of playing, he will become one of the biggest fan favorites this city has seen in a long time. What are you going to do when he yaps someone from the other team into taking a dumb penalty and then scores the goal on the powerplay?
Boo him??
Here is a thought, the "GIMMIE BACK MY SON"
crowd next summer on this blog will be yelling "GIMMIE BACK DUHART!!!!"

NEVER!!! Duhart is all mouth. If he is so great, why is he traded many times during a season? I will never support him. My husband says that he'll stay in the lounge during the games just so he doesn't have to see him in a Komet uniform. I will boo him the entire season if he ends up here. Many others in our section have the same feelings as we do. Listen to section 231. You'll hear us.

Sounds like a good idea. Buy a season ticket, sit in the lounge and sulk. Sounds like fun!

I ask you, what has Jim Duhart ever done that is so bad? Does he throw sticks into the crowd? Does he yell at kids? Does he yell four letter words over the glass? Does he say no to signing autographs? What is it?

If it's because he talks a lot (to other players and the fans) and has long hair and a beard, then I think he's just that kind of player that you hate when he's on the other team, but you like him when he's on your team.

Enjoy yourself booing all season long and looking like an a$$.

Hey, here's something else. Duhart would probably wear 91!!!! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Evidently you have never watched Mr Duhart. I can't believe that you people just love him so much. Not only is he an idiot, he is NOT THE BEST PLAYER WE COULD HAVE GOTTEN. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A kOMET FAN? We've been fans since 1979. Have seen a lot of players come and go. He just projects such a wonderful personal image for the K's also. I've never seen or heard any other player tell a family with a 6 yr old little girl, to F off when they just wanted a picture. Oh, and he flipped them off as well just to state his point. They were wearing Komets clothing. They were not nasty in any way, shape, or form to him. You want that in a Komet uniform? I have always thought that the K's have lots of class. Evidently you fit in very well with Duhart. By the way, this fiasco took place outside of their locker room when they were playing here. This is my last post. You people are too all knowing and full of yourselves. Enjoy your precious Duhart. I hope that you have small children and you can explain to them what a gem he is.

I hope Duhart does come here. Whenever he played against the K's he would always score no matter what. Everybody says they will boo him and hate him but wait til he starts scoring...then we'll see what those people are saying...

ILH- I would like you to think back to 1990. I'm going to give you a name and I would like to ask you your thoughts on when the Komets picked up this player. SCOTT GRUHL.

There's isn't one person who will say that they would cheer for a player that comes to their favorite team from one of the opponets after situations which you discribed. You are entitled to you're feelings and if you choose not to cheer for Duhart that's your choice. I would hope that wouldn't affect your or your husbands ability to sit out in the arena and cherr the rest of the team on.
