The difference in this game as in a lot of games was that the Komets scored on their quality chances and the Mudbugs didn't. The Komets continue to get dominated in their own because they don't play the body and they gave up a ton of good chances. Kevin Reiter played well and in my opinion stole this game for them. The K's also continue to give up the puck with terrible turnovers. I am probably in the minority here but what the Komets need is new defensemen that can pass the puck. If you watch them consistently, all our defensemen do is pass the puck off the glass and it ends up either going for icing or down the ice for the other team to bring it back into our zone. The K's take so many penalties because they don't have good puck possession. Sure Chaulk helps tremendously with puck possession but if we don't have enough defensemen to get the puck to him or our other forwards then it doesn't matter. Listen David Franke....quit bringing in forwards and find a couple defensemen who can pass the puck! Frankie Deangelis is about the only one that can consistently pass the puck without icing it. Ratchuk is solid but he won't be here that long. Cescon is solid but he isn't a great passer. Philips and Mironovic can't pass and Guy is inconsistent. Once they figure out how to pass and generate some speed through the neutral zone and quit dumping the puck in so much to no avail, then we should be able to climb the standings and compete with the top teams.

-Looks like Ratchuk has a heck of a slapper watch out standing in front of the net.
Always nice to win a game where the stats are that lopsided. Hopefully they can clean things up a bit before tonight.

Considering the games in hand, E-ville has all but been in the K's rearview for some time now.
That's 10 games in a row now that the winning team has had the fewest shots. I have noticed that the more desperate teams become, the more they shoot. But it's the quality, not the quantity.
Probable winter storm Tuesday evening into Wednesday... Just beating mightbite to the punch.

Make that 11 in a row. And yeah, lately the Mudbugs have sucked. I knew I should have checked their results before saying anything, but one would assume a team near the top of the standings is at least doing okay. They were doing okay... in November and early December. Now they've lost 9 of their last 10. Yikes.
Just checked the Brahmas just for good measure. They won a close one tonight, but they lost the previous 3 in a row. And they are returning from a relatively short distance road trip this past week. It will be their 4th game in 6 days. Make of that what you will. We'll just have to see what happens.
I know what you mean, mightbite. East coasters get all the luck. I keep hoping for a big storm just like the good ol' days. Meanwhile I have hot chocolate, a fuzzy blanket and a good book collecting dust.

Right now they're calling for only a few inches Tue and Wed, mixed with ice. The ice will really suck but the potential for more then that in snow is there so I guess we'll see.
