Maybe wouldn't hurt, Kometsfan.

Lots of flopping going on in this game.

Well, not only is the Rush the better coached team but the CHL is sending a clear message in my opinion that a former IHL team will not have the chance to win the championship in the CHL. How do the Rush get a 5 on 3 out of a scrum where both teams are shoving and throwing punches????? All the missed high sticking calls and checking from behind and boarding calls? Every time we touch someone and they go down we get a call? Pretty clear message from the CHL if you ask me.

Not the most consistent effort.

Ks out-shot 7-2 with about five minutes left in the period.

9 pps for RC to 3 for the Komets. Wow.

He was being facetious, KF because most folks on here seem to jump on Snuff when he brings up those things.

Just hope they come to play tomorrow and don't use the altitude excuse stop usin the trap and stay with what works

KF Blake is correct. I have taken more than my share of bullets for my thinking age would bite this team in the end. I hope we win the cup so that I can hear the "I told you so" because I'd be more than happy in that situation to eat crow. Heck I'd wear an adult diaper and big fake dentures to a game next year if they win it this year.

Blake I think they are just faster and more aggressive. Komets players are grabbing, holding and are out of position. A couple of the calls have been questionable but I can't imagine the masses here can really blame this on the officiating.

I think this has to be the longest game of the season.

The ref has been brutal guys.

We got hosed on the no goal to start the 2nd.....Lardner got crosschecked into the goalie and was called for goalie interference.....whatever.

The calls on the KOmets have been weak.....and the ref has let alot of rough stuff go that were obvious calls on the Rubes.....I mean Rush.

I feel like the Komets have actually played pretty well from the 2nd period on, they can't catch a break and the ref is playing against them some too.

If the score would have been 3-2 to start the Terd Period.....this would have been a much different game folks. We got Hosed.

Too true.

From the scouting report:

Komets' opponents had 399 power-play chances during the regular season compared to 340 for Rapid City's opponents. Again, Komets forwards must be disciplined and not take penalties in the attacking zone.

And: Menei is likely the best attacker in this series. If he struggles to find the net as he did against Dayton, the Komets' chances improve dramatically.

Yeah, the officiating has been very inconsistent, but this game was decided in the first period when the calls that were made were crystal clear. Ks just played lousy defense in the first period. Period.

Say what you want....

The no goal was a Hose Job.

If it is 3-2 to start the 3rd.......this would have been a different game.....PERIOD.

Maybe.

I guess MAYBE if the Ref wasn't a dipstick and called the game even.

I think I saw the ref high-fiving the fans as he left the rink....

Classic.

I find it interesting that the RC announcers, coaching staff, and players seem to have more respect for the Komet's ability to still win this series then a couple of posters on here.

Until this game the two teams had identical records in the playoffs and the Komets had to beat the tougher team. In the playoffs the Ks have lost one in four and they're being written off already? Amazing.

Having said that, RC is an amazing team to watch, they are very good and you can see why they ended where they did, but if the Komets, with only nine fewer wins in the regular season, remember how they got here they also have a very good chance of winning. I'm not ready to write them off yet, but they do have to get their act together.

Sure hope Schrock is OK....

Wonder which MORAN ref we get here for game 3???

Blake Sebring
Fri, 04/15/2011 - 9:58pm

Once you fall behind Danny Battochio by three in RC, you're toast.

I thought his name was Pistachio......hmmm.

I still say Komets in 4.

So there.

Game after game this season the Komets have taken dumb penalties. It isn't always (rarely actually) the officials fault.

That being said it is one game. A game after a long layoff. One game does not make a series. They win tomorrow night and they come home in good shape.
Lose tomorrow and then obviously there is panic. But from a momentum standpoint I'd rather win the second game than the first if it is going to be a split on the road.

This game was lost in the first period with that lead the Rush were able to sit back and play their game...That game reminded me of the first game against Bloomy where everything went right for the K's and Bloomy was the one getting called for penalties allowing the K's to capitialize on the PP..Clearly the Rush won the special teams battle tonight. I don't think we have scored more than 2 goals in a game against the Rush which is not good. Got to try to steal one Saturday

If the Komets used that stinking trap CRAP then they deserve to lose. They played aggresive against the Thunder and sweep. Then go in and play stupid against the Rush? Why in the heck would a seasoned coach even think about playing that way. As for CHL REFS giving us the shaft i do believe that! Sat. Night they better play hard fast and aggresive or this will be a short series. Damn!

So will anyone go on record and say the Lardner goalie interference was legit????

I still contend that if that goal was good....which it should have been.......this would have been a much different game.

Whether you agree with me that 75% of the calls were softee's on the K's or not.

Blake Sebring
Fri, 04/15/2011 - 10:21pm

Definitely questionable, but I'm not sure it would have made that much difference. P.C.'s penalty at the end of the second killed momentum. Everytime they got something going, they'd take a penalty.

If anything, this should give everyone hope for tomorrow because the Ks can't play any worse than this. and they were pretty competitive until Menei's third goal. They'll come out much stronger tomorrow.
