Hit Somebody!!!

Langdon let alot go tonight, there could have easily been 30-40 penalties called....he called one minor and 2 five minute penalties for fighting.

Anyone else think this team doesn't care if one of their teamates gets highsticked, elbowed, or cheapshotted?

The last 7 minutes of the game picked up in intensity before the OT. Anyone wonder why this team is unwilling to play the body or make a body-check??? Very soft majority of the game. Langdon was letting the game go, and the Komets could have taken that game over with any energy or physical play.....I would love just once to see a shift where everyone on the ice made and finished a check. It never happens though. I think if they did it, it would spark the team and it might spread into team toughness. Not fighting, just physical play overall. Not enough guys will do it, maybe 2 or 3 tops? Schrock, Mironovic, and who else consistantly?

I will stop, just my observation.

Here's what I wrote about Langdon. We'll see if it clears the copy desk.

``Neither team seemed to have much offensive spark, waiting in vain for referee Bob Langdon to give them a power play. Langdon was consistently not calling anything on both sides. A player could have used their stick like a samurai sword, and Landgon's whistle would have stayed in his pocket. It was like the referee had a hot date and needed the game to end in a hurry.''

Hey, I've never even spoken to Langdon! ;)

The people I was sitting with did wonder if there would be any repercussions for the Flint player who apparently broke his stick, causing the blade to fly over the glass behind the visitor's bench and nearly hit some little girl (or so I was told).

I hope the league gets a copy of the game DVD to show what Langdon was up to. It was crazy. I saw several high sticks, elbows, tackles, etc. We are lucky that game didn't get out of hand.

Two points for Wendy! Very nice.

Let Langdon officiate every game in Fort Wayne. It would have been a typical Sunday Snoozer had it not been for Langdon. Say what you will, but he called a fair game. Nobody can feel they got screwed when both teams got screwed. :-)

Bogas' broken stick blade landed on the plexi-glass that covers the opening to the lockerroom door. It didn't come all that close to anyone. Still a dumb move.

Thomas has two goals (including the game winner) and still isn't the #1 star?

On the post yesterday, some people were saying how others were naysayers because they thought changes needed to be made with this team and that everything was fine, just that the lines needed to be more consistent and we need to get everyone back. Now tonight I'm reading about people "not caring". That's exactly what was said by the "negative people" yesterday who were "bitching" too early in the season. Is there a reason it's ok tonight to say what some jumped on other people for saying yesterday? Can only certain people critique the team? I'm totally confused. Maybe I'm not reading the words correctly? However, I do agree 100% it is still early in the season. Things could change, just like they did last year when we were going through our tough stretch. I just really feel at this point that I need to echo the "complacency" concerns. It was neat seeing Bertram just lay down on his guy instead of fighting him though.

Whats worse? A ref blowing the whistle all night long or letting them play? chaser always sounds ticked off when a game starts and the ref starts calling everything.

A ref.

Tiger--There is and has to be a happy medium. I think what we saw tonight was one extreme. Some of those offenses need to be called and should have been called. The Komets have had like 2 power plays that last two games. They were one for one tonight. The best check all night was by the linesman on the Flint player and he was trying to get out of the way. I have never in all my years of doing what I do failed to get a referee's signature after the game. Tonight I had to catch him leaving the building. Most of the time I have to wait for them to get out of the shower. Not tonight!

Almost Chuckitt! It is tickets outstanding/used. That would include promotional , advertisers and freebies, season tickets used or unused, plus walk-ups. I think we are saying the samething only your way takes less words. There are always season ticket holders who for one reason or another decide not to come.

I liked the way langdon called. Wendy, you're out of luck, looks like Schebig stalks the refs showers, you will have to become an off ice official to beat him to the boys.

Can you imagine that game with 20 penalties? It was refreshing to watch the players play, and i never thought i saw anything too extreme. It would be nice if we could finish some checks. Seems like everytime you hear the boards rattle, our little forwards are being crunched. Our big hits come when the other team misses us and check themselves.

Somehoosier thanks for the scrap footage, That was a good tilt but i have to give cescon the slight edge on that one, close to a draw though, thanks to shrocky for being physical and picking up the slack in that department, it seems that not many are willing to step up while mac has been out.

To Batman W/O mask. I agree that the crowd was less than the announced figure. I have four season tickets and one of them went unused. That fourth ticket still counts because it was paid for....regarding Bob Langdon, a referee should call a penalty when he sees one. Langdon was the referee for Friday's game also and called very little. Some like it because "it lets the boys play." Others think that the job of the referee is to call infractions when they occur. I want the referee to call the game. If there are infractions, then call them. If not, then let the game go on. Langdon sure seemed as if he had other things on his mind.....the best "hit" of the night was when the linesman tripped Bullock. I had never seen that before....people are going to start coming off the IR soon. The Komets are going to have to subtract a few players. Blake pointed out recently how everyone has a tough time getting quality defenseman. Maybe this will be the time that David Franke will pull the trigger on a trade. We have one or two defenseman that will be gone, we have one or two forwards that will be gone. I wonder if we can find a sniper and a tough guy in some trades? Scoring is a need. Toughness is a need. Maybe we have the roster that will allow all this to happen.....by the way, and finally, did anyone notice how many checks Chris Bogus put on Klempa last night?

Blake Sebring
Mon, 12/07/2009 - 11:24am

Curadeau is still under contract to Kalamazoo and will be going back there. It's kind of hard to trade for scoring when no one else in the league has any, either. The only way someone in this league is going to give up someone who can score is they are a total cancer in the locker room.

Alan
Mon, 12/07/2009 - 1:03pm

It all depends on how much another team needs to upgrade its defense. We are going to have a numbers problem and maybe can afford to try to get something of value. I'm sure it wouldn't be a one-for one trade, but maybe a three-for two. I'll guarantee you one thing, if I were the GM I'd sure try to explore it. Otherwise you have to waive them and get nothing in return. The time for talking is now, when you can get the "ear" of the other GM's.

Alan
Mon, 12/07/2009 - 1:06pm

Even if Kalamazoo waived Curadeau, (which, of course, they won't) he is the IHL property of the Dayton Gems.

The linesman tripping Bullock was amusing, true. He was not amused, though. I guess I would not have been, had I been him, either. But oh well, he does not play for the Komets, so I won't cry about it like he did!

And Wendy, you are too much! And you'd better not double date with Langdon....his linesman friends would trip you in those 4 inch heels!

We had so many unused seats in our section that we got half our hockey team to sit in my row....sorry about that, section 217...LOL....they came from a very physical game that morning. They did do a good job getting the chants going for our side of the Coliseum...

I know Burgee. And thanks Dschebig for that lovely image of Langdon in the shower. I'm sure my appetite will come back eventually. At which point I'll find myself wondering just one thing... Do referees sing in the shower?

Blake Sebring
Mon, 12/07/2009 - 11:30pm

No, Wendy.... wait for it... they whistle!

Dschebig
Tue, 12/08/2009 - 5:28am

How did I go from the need to catch Langdon going out the Coliseum door to being in the shower? I have never heard any of the sing in the shower. I think some might cry and hide their tears in all the water. I think Burgee caused all of this. Wendy, I can arrange for you to see that your appetite is satisfied!

Blake, that was bad....who is it on here that calls penalties?! That one deserves a five minute major....LOL....

Hey, JM, you and your wife come sit with us any time. You're good people. Even cramming all of us into that section, I think we still had empty seats around us. I don;t know where we will be Wednesday (free seats -yay!), but I know we have some in your section for upcoming games, so I will see you soon.

I call the penalties around here, BLB go sit in box and feel shame, never question the man who blows the whistle, have your little tike stop in front of the port huron bench and wave that flag for a while! Al Gore invented the whistle.
