Go write to jail

Well, here's a thoughtful approach to preventing another Virginia Tech. Let's just criminalize free expression:

One violent, profanity-laced English essay later and Allen Lee's future with the Marine Corps appears to be over.

Because of pending criminal charges stemming from his essay, Lee's recruiter told him Friday evening that the Marine Corps has discharged him from his contract, said Sgt. Luis R. Agostini, spokesman for the Marine Corps Recruiting Station Chicago.

[. . .]

Police Thursday released portions of an essay used to charge a Cary-Grove High School student with disorderly conduct, leaving several experts puzzled at an arrest based on such schoolwork.

The students were even specifically told to write whatever they wanted and not to self-censor. And to think those of us in the Army used to be impressed by the Marines.

I'm reminded of the woody guthrie song "alices restaurant"
about a draftee who didnt want to be drafted to kill.
I guess the Army, and Marines dont want people who want to kill? but who only kill when told to kill?
General Sherman said "war means fighting, and fighting means killing"

And what about all the movies that hollywood has made-either glorifying war, or mindless violence in "slasher movies"?
squeamish gore, such as the "Saw" trilogy/ texas chainsaw masscre, Natural born killers- a parody of the medias fascination with brutal violence.

but porn is evil. I guess its wrong to show people sharing love or sex in the most graphic ways possible.
but its ok to go to your local "grindhouse", or rent a dvd showing people killing each other in the most brutal, and graphic ways possible.
And who writes this crap? didnt quentin tarantino's or sergio leones teachers take them out into the hall, and paddle the crap out of them for writing such violent, and murderous stuff? and all the rest of hollywood screen writers.
and then we have "satanic" music- that evil
"rock and roll"; and gangsta rap...but thats another post.
I dont care. just pointing out the hypocrisy. theres money to be made here in America, and "a mans got to do what a mans got to do, i guess?

I would think if your 18, you've been on the planet long enough to figure a few things out. Like you don't make hi-jacker jokes in line at the airport, or threaten the life of a President, or you don't write a creepy essay like that (read the excerpts, it's creepy) shortly after a mass murder in a school and not expect to get some repercussions. This kids either really stoopid, or he is really disturbed....
