Ok Blake questions for you:

1. Was Stayzer able to come off IR today? If so do the K's have to activate him or put him back on?

2. Varone is also not in line-up tonight and Chaulk is not either.. Did they put Varone back on IR?

Also Warner is not playing tonight either..Man they are skating short tonight

Warner is home sick; Chaulk didn't make it back. Varone is not playing because of his knee. As far as I know he has not been placed on IR again; Stayzer did not come off IR and remains eligible to come off at any time. Nine forwards and six def.

I know Varone really tweak that knee again on NYE....Stayzer I am sure with a concussion is not ready. Don't want to rush that. I am not sure how IR rules are but after a 30 day period is up does a team have to remove them from IR? Or do they have to activate and put them back on another 30 day IR? Thanks for the updates...

Blake Sebring

Nah, they don't have to take him off.

So a player can remain on IR beyond the 30 days and not count against the cap or roster size? That is interesting

You know a lot has been made about signing free agents and trades.. I really don't know how possible a trade is. We don't have a lot of options with trades... Of the vets.. 6 wouldn't report if traded (Bert, Guy, Chaulk, Shaf, PC, Hukalo). That leaves Leo and Stayzer.

I don't see MacMillan getting traded. Or Schrock for that matter. Half the people on this blog would burn the city down if it happened. Warner has appeared untouchable since day one.

That leaves Danko, Phillips, Woodard, DeAngelis, O' Conner, Chewdoruk, Rodger, Stayzer, and Thomas as really the only possibilites for trades. I think a couple of these guy are too important to trade.

I guess my point is. With all the "hometown boys" (as much as we love them) they limit your options for improving the team by making any kind of trade.

I want Booras, but when you look at it, who would we trade for him? Bloomington doesn't want Leo...

Just makes it look like a free agent signing is more likely. Unless you could sign a free agent like Stauffacher and then trade him to Bloomington..

I'm just thinking about possibilities... any thoughts?

I've been saying the same thing for weeks. You've kind of got what you've got so you better hope they get it together.

I guess some of us are slow, Blake. :-)

Komets lose a heartbreaker in the Shootout.. Sounds like Leo played a good game and Haun kept them in it...

I'm slower than most.

It was a very good game. No complaints from me on effort or the komet's play tonight. It was a tight game all night, the K's played hard, they just came up against a tough Goalie and a pretty good Flint team, yes I said it....Flint is a good team. Heck, all the teams in the I this season are good. No cupcakes.

This is a night you tip your cap to the other team, and go get 'em next game. Simple as that. We need guys back too. Chaulk for instance.

Woodard looked good tonight. Best skater on the ice period. He might be a keeper.

Disappointing loss again to Flint...So either Flint is getting better or Flint is the Bloomington of last year against the K's. We had our problems with Bloomington a year ago.Tough to play when we were shorthanded tonight. Have a week to get healthy with a big weekend coming up...Bloomington on Friday Muskegon on Sat. I would say the K's played well considering the short bench. Really a "boring game" in the sense there may have been 300 people there or it look like that and very little hitting...

Like a tortoise without the hare......so to speak.

He usually sneaks up on me when I'm not looking, so I'm sure he'll get me back.

A shoot out is a tie with one of teams getting two points. It is not a loss. A loss = 0 points.

To go into someone else's barn hurt and short handed, playing the sixth game in eight days, in a league that has become very competitive, and leave with a tie is cool by me. Two points would have been great but one is better then none, in my opinion anyway.

Wendy

No! Zero points are better! Because... um... because... zero is just such a round, pretty number! :D

bloomy is known for letting good players go=Thomas & Parsons. They thought Thomas was a head-case.I would like Booras.

Steve
Sun, 01/03/2010 - 12:21pm

You're correct Wendy. I like zeros, especially lots of them after another number on my pay check or in my bank account. Unfortunately they seem to be pretty rare in that context.. :-)

Hit and Steve you both got it right. No easy teams this year and we are short so it makes for a better league this way. To have one team dominate all the others isnt good for the league. Sure we all want the Komets to win but winning all the time is only good if the competing teams are closely matched. And Steve I know what you mean about the bank accounts. If it werent for Wendy bring up all those baked goods I would starve.

Me too, Tim....she's gonna make me gain weight too! LOL....not that I'm complaining. That girl can bake!! Oh, and I agree about the lopsidedness, although I must confess I'd be okay with it some days if the Komets won all the time....I'm so looking through those darn orange-colored glasses that people seem to hate! LOL...

Wendy
Sun, 01/03/2010 - 10:33pm

Ah, but all those zeroes can't make you happy, my friend! As for the league, it's difficult to say. One tends to judge such things based on how well the team they are rooting for is doing. If your team is struggling, everyone else suddenly looks a lot stronger. And I'm probably going to make my first prize winning date-nut swirl cookies this week. Couldn't let you go hungry, Tim. ;)

Hey Wendy, what was that Chip 'N Dale comment all about? RunningKomet has always kidded me about writing "books" for posts. Many times in the past we have not agreed on things but always have maintained respect for one anothers' opinions. He was just commenting on one of my posts. Besides, it was probably more relevant to a hockey blog than you making "date-swirl" cookies. Sometimes I'm not sure if all of your chocolate chips are in the dough. If you were just kidding, then OK. I was just kidding also.

Mmmmm. Chocolate Chips...

This blog gets random and funny for no apparent reason sometimes.

Alan

JungleMonkey, there is nothing wrong with Chocolate Chip cookies. I don't like dates ( or most fruit) and I don't like most nuts. I have however had dates with women who I thought were nuts.

I don't like dates either, but I have dated a few guys I suspected were fruits...

Alan--Blog Foul 1 minute feeling shame in the penalty box. No foo foo's for you. Picking on red headed women. That was pretty good however. Besides Wendy is a 'Chip N Dale' girl.

Burgee--No one is willing to do that do to the number of pills you mix with the Foo Foo's. Red ones, blue ones, white ones. and a whole host of colors including sun tan lotion. You might be good I'll even give you 'Great' but no one can handle 3 redheads at one time.
