Goneau is OK

Komets General Manager David Franke said forward Daniel Goneau had a doctor's appointment today to check out his broken cheekbone and will be able to play this weekend. Goneau suffered the injury when he was hit by a shot during the first period Friday in Quad City. He missed Saturday and Sunday's games, but will be able to return to the lineup Friday in Kalamazoo wearing either a cage mask or a full shield. He will not require surgery.

Franke also said that Goneau was placed on the 7-day injured reserve list last Saturday, meaning he can come off for Friday's game. A.J. Bozoian is day-to-day on team suspension and will resume full skating by mid-week. Jonas Gabrielsen is on the 10-day list and will also be eligible to come off by Friday.

Gabrielsen, who tried out for the team as a defenseman, has said he prefers to play forward and doesn't want to play defense any more.

For a guy who doesn't get much playing time as it is, not nessicarly a smart move on Gabrielson's part.

Good news about Daniel, I figured it really wasnt as bad as they first feared when he was walking around and talking to fans the night after it happened and had very little bruising on his face.

Good news about Goneau. Suckalo wasn't going to cut it on that line.

With Goneau coming back so soon, doesn't that make Franke's comment about Miller make him look like more of the south end of a donkey heading north?

Caffeine is a wonderful thing. I had no idea what you were trying to say Hoss, but I agreed with it 100 percent! LOL.

Blake-Did Gaberielsen say that he prefers to be a forward and doesn't want to play defense, or was it more like he was dead set against playing defense again? Also do you know if Bingham is aware of his choice? If so, was it a mutual decision or not?

Bingham is aware, and it's Gabrielsen's choice. He doesn't want to play defense.

Well...how should we feel about that? Without knowing his reasons I would say there are thoughts crossing my mind wondering who he thinks he is to tell the coach no if in fact coach needs him to play defence. What about doing what the team who is paying him needs him to do etc....

Let's hang him in town square! Or maybe an old-fashioned stone toss... Tar and feather! It isn't like he's getting a lot of ice time anyway.

How about using Icy's scooter to him through town by his skates?

Glad to hear Goneau is okay enough to play against K-Zoo on Friday.
