Good for Goodie

The UHL has just named Jonathan Goodwin as it's player of the week.

Goodwin completed the week with nine points (6g, 3a) and a plus-1 rating in four games played. On Wednesday, he netted a “hat trick” (3g), including the game-winner, and added an assist in the 4-1 victory vs. Port Huron. He scored two goals, including the game-winner, in Friday's 5-4 win vs. Kalamazoo. He dished out an assist in Saturday's 5-4 shootout loss to Port Huron. Goodwin then ended the week with one goal and one assist in the 7-3 victory vs. Motor City on Sunday. The 23-year-old native of Weymouth, Massachusetts currently has 45 points (21g, 24a) and a plus-14 rating in 46 games played this season. His 193 shots on goal rank fourth overall in the UHL.

Rockford's Michel Robinson was the goaltender of the week. Robinson finished the week with a 2-0-0 record, a 1.00 goals against average (GAA), a .963 save percentage (SPCT), and one shutout.

A fellow season ticket holder predicted Goodwin would get hot "anyday now" about 2 weeks ago. Good call Ricko! Congrats to him, glad to see it. He seems like a class act.

Goody has been on fire lately, someone ripped him early in the season, looks like he is finding his stride now...way to go Goody...

He is definitely carrying the load right now. He is putting up some darn good numbers, too. I hope he stays on the Miller and Drouin line as I think the two of them have helped his scoring chances as Venedam did last year. Kelly Miller is definitely under-rated because he does all the little things that people don't always notice. He wins seemingly every faceoff he enters and skates so well. He opens up the ice for everyone else. He is the best penalty killer we have. I love it when him and Hukalo are on the PK together. Pressure City for the other team.

I am happy for Goody, it seem like he was pressing early in the year trying to pick up the slack of loosing Greenville and Venedam. He has settled and is playing at the level he was at last year. He has also picked up playing the body which he also did well last year. Hit Somebody you are right on with Miller. I to feel his is the most underrated player thus far. When we added him to the roster it was during the East Coast swing in which the season started to turn around. He has been an added bonus and may have not been here because he was the one who notified the K's he would be interested in helping out during the time of our injury plague.

Congratulations to Goody! I was wondering when he was going to net his first hat trick of the season. Way to go, Goodwin!!

Hey Blake, today's "Komets At a Glance" mentions Chris Guinn. Oops! I think you meant Rob Guinn. Maybe you should hire me as your proofreader.

Either that or quit spending so much time on the blog and get more sleep.
