First off, thanks to all the folks replying to the "Help me out here'' topic. Totally blew me away because I was expecting a much younger audience. You know what they say about assuming...
What I was wondering was, how many of you read the paper? The reason I ask is that several folks have asked for updates on former Komets, and I try to give listings of where they are playing three or four times per year in the at a glance segment. Eventually we'll be moving that section over to the blog.
I also want to be straight up with you in that it's very doubtful I'm going to be able to get player interviews and such up on the blog, and I apologize for that. I've got other responsibilities that take up significant time away from the Komets beat, and those aren't going to go away anytime soon. I appreciate the input, though. I was hoping to get more topic-orientated suggestions that maybe I could just respond to so it would take less time. As it's been going so far, I've been doing the blog almost always after I get home from work which is never an eight-hour day to begin with or on days off. I'm not complaining, that's just the reality of the situation. As I've said before, I think I learn as much from you as vice versa.
As for people using fake names and such, I'd be happy to eliminate the specific posts if you can let me know. Hopefully I'll be able to figure them out from your direct e-mail to me at bsebring@news-sentinel.com. I have elminated a couple of posts recently because I felt the crossed the line as far as taste. They just said some things that I don't want this blog to be associated with, and since it's my name up there... I'll be the one catching heck for it! LOL.
Please don't be afraid to ask any questions. If I know the answers I'll give them. If I don't I'll ask someone. More often than not, I ask someone. LOL.

We don't subscribe to the News Sentinel (I can hear the gasps already! LOL), so unless I know there's a good-length Komets article, I usually don't buy it. But I do read the "At A Glance" bit on the Internet as often as I can.
I don't read the "paper", but I do read the FWNS articles on their web site. I have Google News set up to show me Komets articles when I start it up.
I do like the "At a Glance" segments. You might think about throwing a link up here when you publish a FWNS article. I'm sure a lot of the blog readers don't realize when there's a new article, and I bet your employer wouldn't mind some extra traffic.

I don't read your paper. I'm stationed overseas and I found your site by accident. Being a die hard Komet fan from birth, I'm looking for any update I can find. Thanks, this site helps.
Blake, My wife gets the Sun paper because of the coupons,but I normally dont read it.
I do read both sites mainly sports.I really like what you and Justin are doing w/these blogs.I used to read, In the crease message boards but dont know what happened to them.

Here is a comment not related to this topic but don't know where to ask this at. I have figured a way for the UHL to be better then it is now. The UHL has the veteran rule which I think they should dump. But to keep what the UHL wants and keep the youth in here is what they can do. Make teams dress 6 Rookies per game but let them have has many veterans dress as they like. That way the better players as they play more games in the league will be able to stay but still keep the youth around as well. The wouldn't need to change the salary cap and would make the league better. What do you think?
My paper reading is limited to the JG on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
The blogs and boards, however, are an every day ritual obsession.

As for real names...well, not sure how you can enforce that unless you spend another 3 hours a day moderating and reviewing. One thing you may want to consider though, is that these comments could become target of "comment spam". An easy way to prevent that is to get a "image verification" thing. Yes, I said thing because I don't know how else to describe it. Might want to check with your IT people at the NS. Just a thought.

Charlie, that's been one of my pet peeves about the league for years. The only difference I've said is cut rookies to two or three, but keep the salary cap the same. My reasoning was that it would help name recognition among fans which would help foster rivalries which help attendance. So far, no one has listened.

It's called a CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart). I'm not sure how to enable it in TypePad, but unless comment spam starts to get bad, it's probably not necessary.

I always read the News-Sentinel. The first section I check is the Sport Section and your column on the Komets even if I already glanced at it on the web that afternoon. I finally responded to "Help me out here" so I will just repeat that I am 55 and that you are the best Komets reporter since Bud Gallmeier. Thanks for a terrific job, Blake.
