Tailing the Komets

Great first period

No one from the league is talking about what was said during the board of governors meeting, Thursday, but this was a fantastic first period with plenty of hitting. Both teams came out flying at each other right off the bat, and Jim Hawthorne let them play. There was great pace to this, playoff pace.

Wings are up 1-0 on a short-handed goal. Kzoo is playing its forwards high on the Komets' defense on the pp, and it worked. There was a two-on-one when Mario Larocque fell down and Kory Karlander hit a perfect wrist shot.

Shots were 13-11 FW, but the Ks were't getting to many rebs so most of the shots were from outside.

A real fun game to watch so far.

Blake,

I'm watching on B2... It looks like either 1)our shots in the 1st period were not that challenging, or 2) Askey is really a pretty good goalie and his NHL experience could be the diff in the game.

Hard 2 tell on B2. Which does it look like there?

While I agree that it has been fast paced I did not see that much hitting Blake nor in the second period. I say more Euro hockey in which the UHL is promoting. Much better than the ref blowing his whistle every other shift for a penalty.

Someone tell Blake to get off the radio. He speaks much better in the paper and on the blog. He definitely has a perfect face for radio though. LOL

Actually you sounded pretty good Blakes. Robbie Irons.....LOOK OUT!!!!! As Chaser would say.

Lets go Komets!!!

flint is getting pounded and both selleke and frawley were fighting in the first period, i expect the fighting tomorrow as well.

If Blake switches to radio he can stop pounding us for not buying the paper. i did pay full retail for an issue this week!

Hit the Rock more than likely will "never" drop the gloves. He has move past being the "tough" guy over the last couple of seasons. Why, who knows. The guy you are talking about is a NHL vet tough guy McCallister (Sp). He has fought Domi and Probert during his NHL days and it is highly unlikely nobody in the UHL will take him on.

Yeah, David, that's why McAllister has a broken nose, and why both teams are exhausted. Both goalies have been stalling the last half of the third period.

Get a clue.

Big Snake, Tedstone, Colt King, and a few others probably will. No one on the Komets. I am a little disappointed in the Komet's to this point, I know it is early, but they look afraid to drop the mitts and stick up for teammates. Just thought I'd see more of it. The only guy that looks willing to do it consistantly is Hansen. He fights and hits everything out there.

This game was so good it didn't need a fight.

Very entertaining hockey.

Komets got tired and got sloppy in the final five minutes and it cost them. Frenchy was giving up rebounds and the Ks couldn't clear the zone.

Larocque gave Bootland a shove after the final horn as the teams were on the way to their exits and Bootland shoved back. A lot of why I oughtas, but nothing too serious. Should be fun the next game.

Will Larocque be suspended for tomorrow night following the 10 minute misconduct at the 20 minute mark of the 3rd?

both got 10 minute misconducts, does that mean no rock tomorrow?

Calling like I see them Blake...McCallister has a broken nose from a High Stick Morencey Blake not because someone beat him up. Not questioning Rock's "toughness" just that he has not mixed it much over the last few years. And the Rock had his chance to take on McCallister at the end of the game and it was no thank you. Hey look not saying I do not like the K's this year in terms of grit or skill level. It is much better than previous years but listen to promo for the game Saturday against Flint and in the promo the ad classifies the Flint vs Fort Wayne games not a game between the two but a "WAR" we shall see because the first match was nothing close to a war!!

I just got home from football so I missed the game :-( So the question is, from looking at the results there was much more 5 on 5 play. How did they look?

No one will ever be happy...just because the KOmets or Rock don't drop the gloves means nothing...what was Rock gonna do after the game is over..it would of been pointless...I'd rather have Rock on the Ice tomorrow..he only has 4 goals in his last 2 games...some people just won't be happy unless the Komets start gooning it up every game...

I am more concerned on how the Komet d-men got beat a lot out wide. Kalamazoo has great team speed and they beat us wide all night long. Good game by them. The Komets got outplayed a bit and we didn't deserve to win the game. Very good game by Frenchy tonight as he contiunes to play great hockey. Lets get em tomorrow K's.

Chicago will be the only one to gain on us in the division tonight. i didn't have us winning this one anyhow.

tomorrow on the other hand, i have 2 pts locked in for that one

if there was a message to the officials prior to game time everyone got it but john searle, searle 27 penalties -- everyone else sensible quantities.

something had to happen, players can't improve that much in a week.

lets see how the rest of the weekend turns out.

An author in Muskegon has completed a book about the history of Muskegon hockey. I have written the newspaper guy who wrote am article about it and will post what he returns as far as an address to make a purchase.

It covers the IHL and UHL days.

I'm looking forward to reading it, too Skate.

Gee, I wonder if anybody will ever do something like that for the Komets. LOL. Things that make you go hmmm... Wonder how much I could charge, or, oops, how much it would sell for?

You can order it through Amazon. It's by Jay VandeVoorde.
