Tailing the Komets

Has anybody noticed

The Komets have won 15 of their last 20 games. If they maintain that pace in the second half, they have a shot at reaching 50 wins and 100 points. That's amazing considering the 5-11-2 start.

Does that make you feel any better about the team? Has anybody changed their feelings about the Stewart and Virag trades?

Yes, there is a part of me that is still "upset" about Virag and Stewart. What was is what was and so..I'm happy with the guys we got. A couple blogs ago there were some bloggers talking about how we need a big time scorer. Well, I think we are finally seeing the potential of this team. I knew it was there, it was just the matter of getting our lines right and getting some players adjusted. Especially, when everybody is healthy! Rock the Jungle tonight-kick some Hog 'ice'.

Don't under estimate the need for another scorer just because we have won 15 of 20 and have a nice streak going. The 8-10 goal pluggers we have put up those career numbers for a reason. Perhaps one or more steps up and has a career season, perhaps they don't. Still alot of puck to play.
We have gotten alot of solid goal contributions from a variety of players and we have needed that in order to win games. Lets hope it continues. Being short a true scorer will hurt us down the road, I think.

I agree with scoops..while im happy with the team we have, I'm not happy that the Frankes are sitting on thier laurals and not trying to improve on what we have. We aren't the best team in the league by a long shot, so there is plenty of room for improvement...

Komets are "Best of the Rest." Once you get by Danbury, Rockford, Muskegon and K-Zoo (not necessarily in that order) the Komets the best team on the second tier of clubs.

While the Komets may beat one of the top four teams once in a while, I certainly don't like their chances in a seven game series. The Komets simply do not have the horses to compete with the top teams.

With the exception of Danbury, maybe, I believe that the Komets have been bypassed by those other three teams in recruiting talent over the summer which is when you put together a winning team in this league.

I doubt you will ever see a player like Big Snake come with under the current coach. Think about it: If you play a style like Big Snake and are recruited by the Komets with a Coach that will try to change your style or Rockford with a Coach that played much the same style as you play now when he played and will let you play the game you play best -- where are you going to go?

A coach must design, or alter, his systems around the players he has -- not try to force players into roles they are not comfortable with to play a certain system.

I'm happy with what we got out of the trades but I'm not happy that we had to make the trades. We should have gotten the players that we needed during summer scouting instead of having to trade some of our fan favorites to fill in the holes. That being said, I'm very glad we have Luciuk and Jorde. Oh and to make the 100 point mark this year would be an awesome accomplishment.

When this team runs opposing players into the glass, all night long, we win. i thought we were doing some nice hitting saturday night against QC.

we are going to have to do that in the playoffs and stay healthy to win. If we don't hit, we don't win the cup.

we did pick up two wins i wasn't counting on this weekend, but i'll keep my prediction at 6th place 96 points.

we may be able to pick someone else up, but unless they can "fit in" before playoff time, i wouldn't mess with the team that is developing nicely.
