Tailing the Komets

Haun declines to comment

He told me this morning he just wants to accept responsibility for his actions, serve his time and move on.

After your GM and Coach publicly toss you under the bus, what do you say?....

So ANYTHING is justifiable as long as the person doing it is wearing a Komets' sweater?

JR
Wed, 12/16/2009 - 3:56pm

Nope; but any punishment seems to be able to be justified if you layer enough BS on it...

Blake, under "League Comes Down Hard On Haun", I wrote this; " As hockey fans we have to be able to realize that sometimes we need to admit when one of our players does something stupid. If we can't, then our comments and opinions will never be deemed credible by others." I think you and I are on the same page here. I guess I'm not sure why others have such a problem doing that.

I know what you mean, Blake. Everyone seems more intent on attacking the other players for not doing enough to protect Haun in the first place, and I can understand that to some degree. But it's still no excuse for what happened. I'm sure Haun understands that. At least I hope he does.

I agree with JM and JR. They threw Haun under the bus. Mac they didn't. Aquino they didn't. Legault they didn't.

The team as a whole has crapped on Haun. From the start of the pre-season they have.

He had to overcome the Tyler Sims saga to start the season. He played very well in pre-season, played very well last season, and he still had to deal with particular comments about "how guys have looked in practice" and so on and so forth. We all know about that. So he made the team even though the organization leaned heavily towards Tyler, and the fans voiced loudly that Haun was the man.

He gets to play after Bouch goes on IR. His team allows him to get ran over game after game. His team shows little to no energy and emotion with him in net. No one rallies around the kid in net that is leading the team thru a tough time with no one but an EBUG to back him up. Add to it a team that can't find the back of the net.

Then he explodes at the end of a game in which he was getting yapped at by the Icehawks in between every break in action, and got ran at least 2 times toward the end of the game....none of his teammates stepped up at all. They actually looked to be uninterested at all to play let alone step in for their goaltender who was in his 16 or 17th straight start (whatever the number).

His GM and Head Coach throw him under the bus in their assessments of what happened. They cut himm ZERO slack. They didn't offer any BS what-so-ever. They didn't even say, "Timmy was tired, tired of being ran, he has carried us for 2 months now, it is unfortunate, he snapped, his teammates didn't step-up, and Timmy made a mistake."

Why did all of this happen??? That is my question. Is Tim not a likeable character by his team? Did he do something that caused his team to quit on him??? Was Tim on the block next for Tyler to re-join the team? Is Kevin Reiter in our future? Why is everyone so sour on Tim? He played his arse off and kept this team in all of the games, why the reaction from his teammates or non-reaction and then from the MGMT???

My questions are not far-fetched. What is the deal here?

Anyone else scratching their heads on this? Or am I mostly crazy here?

HIT-No your not crazy! Pardon the pun, just long winded :) Just having some fun here hit. I can understand Tim saying nothing. If you can't say anything positive or polite your better off to leave well enough alone. I am on his side on this one. No matter what he says someone will twist it into something he didn't mean. Lets give the guy a break. I think he has earned it.

I didn't even say it was justifiable... I have no issue with him being suspended. I think the legnth of the suspension is a bit much when put in context of other league suspensions. I wouldn't have complained about 3 games.

The point of my earlier post was that a day after David Franke and Al Sims came out and condemend Haun, what was Haun going to say? If he whole heartedly felt that he was 100% wrong, he would have said so.. Instead he declined to comment. One can reasonably make the assumption that perhaps he feels differently than management regarding the issue.

With rumors of Kevin Reiter going around, perhaps this isn't the best time to be at odds with anyone. "No Comment" might have been a great decision for Haun.

I have no comment, I wasn't there and the video was inconclusive.

No....I can't handle Reiter again!! He comes out of the net too much for my taste! I'll be all bald by the end of the season!! LOL

BTW, for anyone who is interested, Evgeny Saidachev is still out of the country. I believe he is tackling his immigration issues....he seems fine, and he is not in any legal danger at all.

Hit: We agree. I have nothing to add. You're very well spoken and that was put perfectly. Maybe people should ask where we'd have been without Haun?

Frozen Water: we'd have been up a creek. Paddle lost about 5 miles back. Hit: FW is right. You are well-spoken. And I hope Haun recovers soon from the injuries from the bus that just ran him over. What is our situation in the net now? I know we have Paris available, but is that our plan for the whole time Tim is gone? Or is Nick gonna be back before then?

people always talk bad about reiter leaving the net i do remember that he tied the record for shutouts with the "great frenchy" and if people think back to him he was the same way it didnt look so bad because he was a lot bigger guy and if u remember reiter is the one who carried us on the 25 game home win streak granted he fell short in the playoffs but boucher went on a hot streak. i would gladly take him on our team anyday for sure over sims and duffis or even haun.

i am not so sure the people wanting bloggers to come type on this page want those same bloggers to wonder why their opinions don't matter. just food for thought for the "nasty (in my opinion comments)" that were left about other people's opinion.

Haun made all the comment he needed to make at the end of that game against Port Huron and most of the fans heard him loud and clear... Did his team mates????

I guess I'm not exactly sure why the K's would want to sign another goaltender. Sure, Reiter is and was a great goalie for the K's, but the problem isn't the guy in the crease, the problem is how to get the puck through the crease and into the goal.

Wendy
Thu, 12/17/2009 - 3:03pm

We don't need to sign another goalie unless we're getting rid of Haun, and no one has said that that is their intention. He'll be back by New Year's Eve, so what's the point of signing of someone new when we're only talking about a couple of weekends?

Reiterfan, I actually recall Reiter and Boucher BOTH carrying the team on the 25 game home winning streak. Boucher missed a month or so with a torn groin. They basically split the season down the middle as far as starts go except for that injury. Even in the playoffs they were splitting until the finals, as memory serves me....I doubt they could afford to bring Kevin in also

Chenzo (Tarantino) Wont be back this year. He told me that he has to go in for another surgery to clean up his last one. He was expected to come back this month, but he told me it prolly wont be this year that he is back on the ice. It sucks we only seen him acouple games when we picked him up. But i really hope that when he is better he can contribute to the komets.
