I guess when I see a fight, I don't really look at it like I hope our guy doesn't hit their guy too hard... Interesting take I guess. Makes no sense whatsoever to me, but interesting nonetheless.

Mightbite I hope it is not Cornish or McMorrow. Mac is a guy who filled his role on the K's and was an added bonus two years ago in the play-off's. I think the K's got all they could of out of Mac.

Hit too hard?

I'm baffled.

I sure wish Mightbite would spill the beans.

Anytime 2 men drop the gloves and fight there is potential for serious injury... It comes with the territory and these guys who do it are fully aware of the potential risks...

I for one loved MacMillan. This guy played his freaking heart out for us. He stood tall for his teammates every chance there was. This guy had huge round ones and feared no one. He took on the other team's big guy at all costs and was successful 85% or more of the time.

The thing I will never forget about Brad is that he played the playoffs with a broken hand, and maybe and more injuries than we never knew about, and he won the series against K-Zoo for us with his shear determination. The guy played huge 2 years ago in the playoffs, and that is the Mac I will always remember and will always respect and appreciate.

This guy ranks up there for Hit Somebody's all time favorite Komets to watch because of his toughness and willingness to do whatever the team needs him to do to win games. Those are the guys that make differences and he was one of those guys bigtime.

I will miss you Mac. Thanks for wearing the orange and black.

I will hate to have to play against him, I feel sorry for whatever Komet has to line-up against him.

Spill the beans Mighty bite.

Mike Sgroi..............................

I'm pretty well convinced that Mightbite is referring to Sean McMorrow.

JungleMonkey

I'm hoping its not McMorrow, due to his off-ice issues.

Choppy video, but he handled Nasty Mirasty in this one.

Mirasty isn't the only thing he's been handling.

Meanwhile Sgroi fits a few of the hints Mitebite has tossed out?

Wow, I hope he wasn't planning on smoking all that by himself......holy smokes.

What a pot head.

Sgori? Hmmm. He never impressed me. Isn't he the guy that was always out of shape and un-inspired???

Just spill the beans Mighty Mite.

I will be very sad if either of those two thugs puts on a Komets sweater. One has a very checkered past and the other should stick to his made for TV fighting crap or to jumping guys in the penalty box since that is about all he is good for.

RK and JM: Okay, I'll try again to explain. Hopefully I'll do a better job this time. And I don't mind at all if you disagree with me. It's as simple as this. People like to see big hits and fights in hockey, but most of them don't want to see the other guy actually wind up in the hospital or worse. God forbid I should use a "Rocky" sequel as an example, but remember "Rocky IV" in which Dolph Lundgren was just a little too hard-hitting? Force is good. Excessive force, not so much. As a woman, I know all about that, because to take down an attacker, that's pretty much what's required. There's no halfway -- it's all or nothing. But I'm not even saying that Brad was guilty of that. It's just that with him, I found myself worrying more than I like to about the safety of the other guy.

None of the above, I was asked not to tell.

Good comments from everyone on Mac. Have to admire a smaller guy (like myself) taking on all comers. Coming back was tough for Brad. Being a little out of shape and having to battle is not a place you want to be. Someone mentioned medical expenses. I think the Frankes were looking at it the other way, Wendy. They were concerned that Brad would be seriously injured.
Ownership had to be impressed with Mac's heart but a bigger body is really what they need. Good luck Brad.

Having interviewed Mac and spoken with him a number of times, I will say he's about as well spoken a player as I've ever met and I believe quite an intelligent guy. But more than that he's everything folks on here are saying - tough, loyal, hard-working and more.

I'll miss shooting his fights and big body checks, and I'll miss watching them on nights when I buy tickets to sit in the stands.

Good luck to Brad with his new team.

Brad is a "Class act" all heart and when he was wearing the fireball ALL Komet. I will miss him and Lil Mac. The kid was just like his dad. I wish him nothing but the very best.

Wendy you are 100% correct.
I bring up the name Don Sanderson as a reminder of what can happen during fights and why I wish these guys would think twice about throwing their helmets off. Better bruised hands than what happened to this kid.

What about Snowball ?? has he signed anywhere?

Wendy
Wed, 07/21/2010 - 1:38pm

Snuff: True, that was a sad and tragic event, and there will no doubt continue to be discussions about that. Of course Don didn't take his helmet off. It got knocked off during the fight. You can tell players not to take their helmets off, but how do you keep them from coming off accidentally? Super-glue?

Mike: He's certainly had his share of injuries, and without talking to the team doctor, I know that some of them could have been serious enough that another similar injury could be far more serious. That being said, as the character of George Woolf stated in the film "Seabiscuit", "It's better to break a man's leg than his heart."

Wendy, are you sure you never played hockey? Point taken well said.

JR

I think in the OHL now (will have to research) that taking off your helmet for a fight is an automatic gamer and the fight is broken up immediately. Also, Linesman are instructed to immediately jump in if a players helmet is knocked off during the fight to end it before a players go down... All in season rules adjustments in attempt to avoid anymore serious head injuries resulting from players landing on thier noggins during a fight...

Personally, I think they should look at adding a 10 min misconduct (as an initial way to ward off the action) to any player who resorts to the MMA/wrestling takedown to either avoid or end a fight... The slamming of another player to the ice is where alot of the potential for injury occurs with or without the helmet in place, IMO.

Wendy: Do you not remember Woods giving Donnie Marghetti (AKA "Beauty School Dropout") a concussion and yet continuing to punch him once or twice when he was down on the ice? You have a pretty rosy memory of what Woods's fights were like....once the adrenaline gets ya going, you cannot always stop the hands. And before you ask, Mike....nope, I was never an enforcer...LOL...at least not on-ice.
