This is one of those few times where I agree with Skate and JR! Either way they go, I hope they dont burn any bridges with the other.

Can't go wrong with either guy it sounds like...I say go with Marks though. Is it just me...or is Marks that guy we have all been dreaming about the past 6 years to coach our favorite team? The complete opposite of the Chief. Motivates, communicates, has passion, cares, has personality.....wow!

I'm gonna put in a vote for Bingham. I would not be upset with Marks though. Both sound like quality guys.

Dose the difference in age between the two factor in at all ?????

Both guys are indeed quality cantidates and both certainly will have jobs this season somewhere.
The age question is actually a very good one. It all depends on how he relates to the players of today. Considering he played a long time at the highest level, the players in this league are going to give him respect initially because he has been where they all wish they can go. That will only carry him so far tough.
Honestly I think he will be fine. If he had been out of coaching for say 5 years I might be worried. The guy lasted a long time at his last job (longer than Puhalski) and he probably would still be there if not for the chaos surrounding the teams future. That shows he can communicate and relate to his players and they do not tune him out.

For a cool biography and photos of John Marks as a player....

By the way, my inventory shows I have 83 John Marks hockey cards. If he gets the job I will make 30-40 of the available free of charge to bloggers who might wish to get them signed.

Either will be fine, I think. I wonder if Marks is looking for a place to retire and Bingham for a stepping stone?

Would Marks be here for several years and Bingham for two?

I DO like the comment (by Marks) that agents are comforatble sending players to him. I suspect they feel the same way about Martinson.

There's probably not too much Marks hasn't seen in his 19 years. The lack of playoff secess concerms me, somwhat about Bingham.

"You know who" had the same rap on him before he got here.

My vote is for Marks just because I remember his Kalamazoo and Indy teams and I think the experience wins out. But I would not be discouraged with Bingham either.

This should be an exciting year for Komet Hockey.

I would vote for Marks.

He sounds like a no BS kind of guy who will stand up for his players and stand up to them when necessary.

You can't argue with his track record - several championships and plenty of experience.

I think Bingham would be good too, but Marks would be my #1 choice.
