The Komets are down to five defensemen and don't expect to be able to get anyone in before Wednesday's game. Sean O'Connor played half the season last year in the OHL on defennse, and David Hukalo practiced on defense on Tuesday.
"I'm not sure how much time each of them will receive, but they could go back for a little while if we get short-handed because of injuries or penalties," Komets General Manager David Franke said. "We're still trying to find a way to get somebody in, but it's trying to find a good defenseman. There are some guys out there, but we don't want to bring in a stiff. We're looking for somebody who can play."
Franke said Tampa Bay just sent two defensemen down to Norfolk of the AHL and that Komets coach Al Sims is talking with Norfolk GM Mike Butters.
Konstantin Shafranov practiced today and is expected to be in Wednesday's lineup.

Hukalo is a major hustler. Most likely he will do well no matter where he is put. It is for sure that we need some major help on defense. O'Connor...I guess we will see. I do think that he has made some great improvements, but I worry we will see similar things from him as everyone else. By the way (a little plug for Mironovic), he is probably one of the most improved players in my book. He is more aggressive and seems to really want to play in comparison from that beginning of the season. Go Mironovic GO! We need someone to step up...I don't think Holladay's way of stepping up is working considering he gets it handed to him every time he fights.
