Hextall interview

Here's an interview with new IHL Commissioner Dennis Hextall. I tried to think of things the bloggers would like to ask so I have a tremendous headache right now.

To me, it was very refreshing to talk to someone who admits he doesn't know things but wants to learn. I was impressed that he didn't try to

Excellent. I like is answers so far. I mean it is only talk right now obviously, but he seems like the right guy. He has contacts, he knows the game, and he is goal driven. I like his approach so far. He isn't saying he has all the answers, but seems willing to get those answers in place. Good hire.

Blake ask Burgee to share some of his meds for you head. You asked the right questions. I wasn't there but it sure sounds like he gave you very truthful answers. I talked with Dennis (love that name) last year when the Alumni played here. I found him very friendly and was impressed even than. He can not do it all by himself. It sure sounds like he has the support of the Governors. They know it is all for one and one for all. The IHL that is. If he is successful (I fell believe he will be) The IHL will be better, stronger and the League young players will want to play in. When that happens every hockey fan wins in every city in the IHL. Go get them Dennis! Welcome to the IHL. The "Jungle" will welcome you with open arms.

Any news on "Goal End Netting" at the MC? Is it true they are finally putting in the appropriate netting that wraps around into the corners and is easier to see thru?

Any clue Blake?

Yes, it is true Hit! There will be new netting behind the goals this year. I had to look it up again but it was reported back in march that the Coliseum was upgrading the expo center. here's a clip from the article from The News-Sentinel:

The $5 million renovation of the Memorial Coliseum's Expo Hall is scheduled to start June 15, with completion by the fall.

The Allen County Commissioners on Friday are expected to award a $3.47 million contract to CCI Commercial Contractors of Fort Wayne for the bulk of the project, which will include new lights, acoustic panels, doors, heating and cooling upgrades, and changes to make the 20-year-old, 170,000-square-foot facility more accessible.

It doesn't say anything about the netting in this clip but it was the only one i could find, but it did say that they wanted to make the improvements for the NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Regionals that will be held at the Coliseum this March.

Luckily I've only had to deal with looking through that netting once before I got the good seats. I wasn't a fan of setting on the ends at all, but I know that's all personal preference. Lots of people probably love the ends. We could go back to the days before my days when there wasn't even glass along the walls. Talk about crowd participation!

Know what? Great interview, Blake! I like this guy, based on this interview. I read elsewhere that this guy was sort of going on the "let's not use the IHL as a way station for older players who are going nowhere" idea, and I did not get that at all out of this article. Unless you edited the heck out of this, it seems that he is definitely interested in developing and attracting NHL prospects, but nowhere does it say that he is unhappy in any way shape or form with the current type of player we have now (read: Guy, Shaf, PC, etc). That makes me like him a lot more than I originally did. I'm breathing a huge sigh of relief about that.

Good luck to him. :) Sorry I didn't respond sooner, but I've been trying to wrap my brain around the use of the word "balderdash". ;)
