Opening Arguments

Hot and cold

Just sayin':

Several lead scientists at the US National Solar Observatory and the US Air Force Research Laboratory announced this morning that a mini ice age might be in our near future as the sun finishes its 11-year cycle of activity. This news comes in stark contrast to current concerns about global warming, but rather than offering a solution to the threat of warming, this new revelation gives society another potential cause for concern.

Don't panic! I'll bet an uncap-and-trade plan is even now working its way through Congress so that those who don't produce enough greenhouse gasses can be properly punished incentivized.

Brrr! I'll take global warming any day.

"Near future" doesn't mean the same thing in casual conversation as it does among scientists. At any rate, you've merely found one scientist who disagrees with the consensus.
That's easy to do. Michael Behe holds a Ph.D. in biology and is a tenured professor. He also champions "Intelligent Design" over evolution. By his own admission, his view is motivated by his religious beliefs. Other biologists consider him an embarrassment.
You can always find someone with an unconventional view.

Littlejohn, do you not suffer dizziness when you spin so much?

Tim, I like you. I really do.
So I say this in the nicest way possible. What do you mean by "spin so much"?
I assume that by "spin" you mean to change my opinion, or perhaps, suggest that my words have changed in meaning.
"Spin" is a popular word recently among politicians and office-seekers, which is why I assume you used it.
To be blunt, which I hate to do, your rhetorical question appears to make no sense, other that serve as a sort of vaguely-aimed insult.
If you actually have something to say, can you express it more clearly? I have a thick skin (otherwise I wouldn't be here in Fascist Central). Tell me what you mean, if anything. I promise not to overreact.

Littlejohn, by "spin" I didn't mean you changed your mind at all. I meant that you "spin" the findings of the reports you don't agree with as unimportant or false so that your argument appears to be the correct one. People like you always "poo-poo

My remark about you assuring us the science is settled is simply sarcastic, I should have put an /s after it I guess. I find the religion of AGW to be preposterous, as do most people with a modicum of common sense. Is that clear enough for your thick skin?

What is typical though, is how an "educated" person such as yourself would easily fall prey to a scheme like The Algores'. As a lifelong salesman, it's been my experience the "over-educated" are always the easiest marks.
