Tailing the Komets

How about that?

Best. Game. Of. The. Year.

They dominated. I was so impressed that the Komets won the game, Muskegon didn't lose it. To my mind, they broke the Fury.

Did you notice how the Komets were covering passes up high in the defensive zone? That is something that has always killed them against the Fury.

How about Troy Neumeier. He played like he was 25 not 35. It's also looking like keeping A.J. Bozoian under 60 games so he can be a rookie next year is brilliant.

What did you think?

I already said it in the other blog area, but I'll say it again. Great effort tonight for a team that really had not much to play for other than pride. They stuck it to the Fury without 3 major players, topline guys no less. We handled their powerplay really well. That is the difference to me. The Fury usually kills us when we are shorthanded. We had an awesome shorthander that Kelly Miller set-up Rumble on. How did that shot AJ had for a goal get through? Hope we come out with the same hustle and fire tomorrow and in the playoffs. We might see something really special this year afterall.

Hey Super-Fan, what do you think of Kevin Kurk now. He isn't as bad as you thought. I am glad he has gotten some time, he has definitely built some confidence. Now I am not as scared about that position.

Tonight was an impressive performance. The guys showed a lot of character and heart to earn this win. I think tonight was the best overall game I have seen this season. Our PK was awesome; especially during the 4:00 penalty against Galbraith. The Fury only got 2 poor shots during that PP. If they can play like that every night...then we are a force to be reckoned with!

"Pocket" Pool's timing was off on Bozo's shot. He tried to play it into the slot and just missed it. The shot went in off of his right knee.

Pool was terrible tonight, juggling almost every shot, leaving juicy rebounds and just misplaying everything. If he can't play any better than that, Boucher better get the call in net or Muskegon will be out of the playoffs quickly.

Super Fan,

with tonights games in the bag, doesn't k-zoo clinch tarry since they own the tie breaker? Also Danbury clinched #2 seed since they own the tie breaker over Rockford? Here piggy piggy piggy. The slaughter house is waiting. I think the Channel 15 guy was wrong on the newscast, he said we would play danbury.

JC

Actually I don't think Danbury has clinched the #2 seed yet because if they were to lose and Rockford would win, Rockford would have more wins and therefore be the #2 seed.

you're right JC, brain fart on my end.

so what happens if Danbury wins and Rockford wins? I highly doubt Danbury loses.

The Komets played a great game against the Fury. They looked better than I have seen them all year. Kurky played a really good game. I don't know about eveyone else, but I really have a lot of confidence in him now. I also thought that Carpentier looked pretty good. The game tonight really made me believe once again that the Komets can go all the way!

It sounded like a great game on the radio. How big was the crowd? From the audio it sounded small. Playing Kurk is a great move this weekend. Just in case of an injury in the playoffs to St Pierre, Kurk will not have been sitting without playing for weeks. I am going to miss the last game of the season for the first time since 97. How much is gas down there? It broke $3 in my neighborhood today. The playoffs are going to be costly this year.

Kurk was shaky in the first period. He settled down quite a bit in the second and played a great game from then on out.

Gotta agree, Neumy played GREAT!

Pool was awful!

Crowd was 7,500+ and I thought it was one of the louder ones on the year.

My problem with Kurk is that he leaves rebounds like grenades a lot of times. He has gotten better, but you can't do that in the playoffs or normally against Muskegon. I thought his defense did a wonderful job of covering up those rebounds, but that's not always the case because the forwards have not been that consistent getting back.

Defense as a whole did a great job of banging Bouchard and Robinson, too. I don't even remember seeing Jeff Nelson on the ice. Ryan Keller got called up to Grand Rapids and didn't play, but they expect him tonight in Rockford.

Danbury needs one point or a Rockford loss to clinch. ROckford holds the tiebreaker. Motor city holds tiebreaker over Richmond.

I wouldn't be shocked of Lance sits out tonight. If he could ever learn to skate, he'd be in the AHL.

PK did a great job on Bouchard. They basically covered him and dared the rest of Muskegon to beat them, and they didn't.

The Komets played like they had scouted this game like a playoff game. They nailed every Muskegon tendancy.

Oh, and I'm a lot less optimistic on Chaulk, and I sense the players are, too.

I'm not buying the fact that the swelling is too bad for the MRI. Baloney. Medically impossible.

Danbury isn't going to lose so we might as well plan on playing them. What an awful Lance comment he can skate lol.

Super-Fan.....finally figured out the Franke spin machine. Glad you don't cover the White House. You'd be right in the oval office with Bushy boy. LOL

I have a hunch we will pull together and play well without Chaulker. This is alot better team than we had early on. Hope Milam is a part of the playoff team. He is a must for us to play on.

Neumy was an animal out there against the Fury; should have been one of the three stars of the game.

Wow. WOWO needs to invest money into a better microphone. Maybe something got lost over the internet because it sounded like the building was half empty.
As for Lance and his skating, he has
Brad Purdie syndrome. Everyone remember him? I never saw a guy trip over the blue line as often as he did.

If tripping into the net counted as a goal, Lance would lead the league in goals.

GREAT GAME Ks!!!
To Tony E - FYI - gas was $2.78 in Angola Sat AM on US 20 east of the circle in case you're doing any traveling to FW.

Did anybody else think Bouchard was going to end in the front row from one of Neumy's hits?

I can't think Milam won't be on the playoff roster, even if he has to miss some midweek games because of college. We HAVE to get this guy here next year - all he does is score.

Can't wait for the playoffs - maybe the Muskegon win will be like the 1-0 Joe game from 2002-03 and propel the Ks to another cup.

Let's go Komets!!!

Milam is going to be on the playoff roster no matter what, not the least of which he doesn't cost them a roster spot because he's a college signee.

After thinking about it some more today, I think Lance's skating is probably a benefit to him because opponents never know where he's going by looking at his stride. He's a loose cannon out there in that he can go anywhere.

Thanks Jeff. I hope to be down there for at least one of the first round games. $2.78 isn't bad compared to some I have seen here.
I don't think Lance is a bad skater. I just think sometime he gets going 100 miles an hour when there isn't enough room for him to go that fast and certainly not enough room to stop. Just part of his all-out aggressive style
