To see the Komets play Rapid City for their one time all season in Fort Wayne on Friday? I'm sorry, but that's a crime. These teams have a budding rivalry going, but the Rush make only one trip to Fort Wayne all year? And it's in the third week of the season? That's not good enough. What's even crazier is that these teams are only going to play five times this season, and they'll be done by December 3.
Imagine if the Packers and Bears were done by the fourth week of the season, or if IU and Purdue played bas

i'll be there as usual. it would be nice to see them more, but the way double AA hockey is headed i doubt we play them at all next year, but we will see Evansville and Dayton the same amount next year.
Having the game on a Friday will keep a lot of Rush fans home that would otherwise make the trip to the MC.
Purdue and IU only played once for a few years recently.
If the Komets haven't improved substantially, I think we'll be happy we don't play Rapid City more. At this point, and I hope I'm wrong, I don't see this game turning out well for the Ks. I just don't think they're ready yet.
That was actually my first thought when I seen the schedule. Doesn't seem right that we play them five times and four of them are in RC. Who's behind that gem? What garbage! So I guess that means RC wants to see their team lose four times to the Ks on their own ice. Congratulations!
How can Rapid City afford the travel? They are hanging out there all by themselves with no other teams even in their same time zone. Is that why Fort Wayne travels to Rapid City 4 times while Rapid City only travels to Fort Wayne once? Absolutely do not understand how Rapid City is making it financially.
I agree with JB on the travel. This rivalry may be short lived if things don't change in the league. It is a brutal trip anywhere RC goes and the costs are through the roof. What is next for RC ?
Moving to a city that isn't in the middle of no-man's land?
You have a good point there Running. At this point in time that isn't an option for me though. I guess I will have to take it 1 game at a time & see where it goes.
Been nice if Colt King was still there. Also like to see if they take the cheap shots like they did last year (especially game 6) with King Kong Henley on the ice.
I think Komet fans will be surprised at the style of play the Rush are playing this year. I would venture to say that there won't be much of that style of play going on unless it's the K's that are doing it.
I wasn't saying you should move Frow, but that the team should. If I had the privilege of living in the middle of nowhere with very few people around, I'd jump at it in a heartbeat. You can keep your winters though!
Watch the game Friday night and see the style of play change for the Rush. I think Komet fans will be surprised.
I'm going to say this now, before the two teams even play so not to sound like a "We'll get you next time" type of person. No matter what the outcome of this weekend, I think the Komets team you see at the end of the year will be far superior to the one that plays this weekend. I know that sounds like a "Duh!" statement, but I have high expectations for what this team will do once it gets a little experience on the ice and working together.
With the changes that will happen during the season & the experience the players will pickup it will be a interesting playoff setting.
isnt that how it is every year for most teams. its minor league hockey. you cant judge their season in 2 games. with young guys, guys that have never palyed together, new coaching, and so on.
reguardless the outcome of any game. i want to see hard hits, good forechecking, someone in front of the net, and every player giving 110% at all times. even on a line change. if you cant do that, then see ya later.
Would you say that happened last year, Boone? I sure wouldn't. Luckily at the very end some new blood came in.
And the K's still have three players waiting on immigration papers.
the ks have historicly been average until about christmas time then when they are really good they really take off. last years team seemed to always struggle and only got as hot as was needed to make the playoffs. hopefully this years team will be different!
The K's will be there when it counts. They always are !
he said most teams and I'd include bringing in new blood as a relative to what most call jelling. i believe the point to be 2 games are not enough to judge a team.
Go Rush !!!!
The K's cannot afford to be a slow starting team this season... Less playoff spots mean less opportunity to make a late season comeback.
Here's hoping for a good, solid weekend of hockey. K's need to win 2 of 3 at least this weekend.
well, my point, was every team in minor league cant be judged too much in 2 games. do i think it will take time to totally "gel", sure. do i think they can afford to do their normal and wait until xmas to play, no. never. if your team isnt "right" you fix it till it is. you work em hard, move things around if need be. you cant just sit on your butt and hope they pull it together at SOME point in the season... we will see what sims has in store for this team until he is named GM. just IMO of course
Prediction for Friday night's game. Rush 3 Komets 2 in OT.
Frowdog is drinking diet haterade, Komets will win, Komets will win, Komets will win. I haven't figured out the score yet, no overtime, win is by 3 goals, I'm changing my handle to BAM25.
I said diet haterade cause Fro at least gave us a standings point
3 golas is a big margin. Burgee must be more confident than the rest of the K's fans. I guess we will see what happens tonight.
4-3 us no ot
Frowdawg, don't forget that the Komets average just under 7500 attending fans per game. Don't let the half dozen on here influence you as to what all of the rest of the fans are thinking.
The Ks sell that many tickets, which has NOTHING to do with how many are in attendance. I've sat at many the game where it was claimed the crowd was over 7,000 and it was almost comical how far off that number was from real life.
