Tailing the Komets

How much fun was that?

I didn't get to go to Kalamazoo tonight, but just listening to the game you could tell it was a lot of fun. What I'm wondering is, what did the folks who got to go to Kzoo think? A little role reversal here. You report for me for once. LOL. Who looked good, who looked bad, what was the Chaulk-Turner fight like?

One work summed up tonight's action in Kalamazoo: Determination. The guys were on top of the Wings tonight! In my opinion this was the best game I have seen the Komets play all season. Defense was there tonight..good hits. Chaulk's fight - priceless! I've been waiting for it and it finally came, he pounded the ICE out of Turner! The game was just intense, they played hard and with determination tonight!

It was a great game. Lots of hitting to start the game and the Komets looked great! The best part was when "Killer" Chaulk beat the stuffing out of Turner. Also Hunter (I think) laid out Church with a great hit! I really didn't think Lance was that great tonight. He did get a goal and showed some hussle, but he also did a few too many stupid moves tonight. It was awsome to see we hand our own "Jungle" going and out cheered the KZoo fans, even after blowing the two goal lead. The best was when Guy gave the fans some props on his way out for sticking with them all night. Great game!

1. Awsome to see that many Komet's fans at the game tonight!!!!
2. Kurk.....well I guess it is better to be lucky than good. He made 2 HUGE saves, but he was out of position both times and recovered just in time. Also there must have been more pucks hitting the posts tonight than I have seen all season. I am glad he came up big in the shootout and got us the 2 pts.
3. CHAULK IS THE MAN. This team will go as far as he can lead us, congrats on the Gordie Howe Hat-Trick
4. I am glad to see that the Komets are playing more physical hockey. I think that will be the key to the second half of the season, can hang with the more physical teams in this league.
5. Lance is starting to play like the person he was billed to be when the Komets signed him this offseason. Keep it up Lance!!!
6. I am not sure I like PC being moved to center, we shall see how this works out.
7. Mike Mondalek is turning into one of the worst referee's in this league.
8. Big props to all the Kalamazoo fans, you are wonderful hosts, I hope we play each other in the playoffs so I can make some more trips to Coliseum North.

Yeah it was a good road game....
1-- Kurk played well. I don't think it was all luck... He just needs to play in games more...
2-- The fight was GREAT!!!!! I have never seen Chaulk look so mad in my entire life.
3-- Could the K-Zoo goalie dive a few more times? It was RIDICULOUS!!!! Oddly enough, the ref never bought it.
4-- I agree that Mike Mondelak is getting out of hand. Which is really sad, because I viewed him as one of the best until recently. The second K-Zoo goal was the direct RESULT of him missing 2 calls in a row against the K-wings... led to an easy goal. He was letting a lot of K-Zoo penalties go.... They had 7 power plays, we had 3....
5-- On a side note, it was nice to see the K-zoo coach pissed and showing emotion...
6-- A lot of great Komets fans there. Did anyone else get annoyed that you could never hear the PA guy there unless the something good benefited K-Zoo???

Sounded like a dandy from what I heard of it. How about playing like this at Coliseum south? Good grief....

Good coverage of the game here, Blake. I suggest you use it, if you're going to rely on others anyway. Ha.

Hmmm I seem to remember a certain blog poster telling everyone that Chaulk was quite the tough guy when folks were saying after the Worlton trade there was no toughness left (of enough patting myself on the backside before one of you decides to kick me there lol) Great game. Great intensity. This was a quality road win. The Komets are starting to play better against the teams ahead of them in the standings. Remember (last year, or the year before) when we beat Muskegon every game during the regular season and them they washed us out of the playoffs? Maybe time for a reversal?

I wasn't there, but is any one else concerned that we blew a 3-1 lead? Wasn't long ago we blew a 4-1 lead and lost. Luckily this game we still ended up winning, but had to go to a shout-out and give K-zoo a point. I understand though that there was some contraversy over the ref's calls (or lack of) and possibly no goal on Virag's last goal of the game so maybe I'm more concerned about it then I should be. Anybody else see a pattern of the K's giving up good leads this year?

Virag's last goal crossed the line by about an inch or two. I was sitting down in that end close to the goal line. I just trickled in before Kurk tried to scoop it out of the net. It was surley a goal.

You are the first person to even mention anything about that being a no-goal. I thought for sure Cohn would have been PO'ed to high heck after what (didn't) happened last week to Hukalo. Then again, almost all of the Fort Wayne fans were in the other end.

I thought the quotes from Chaulk after the game were very telling considering the recent blog post you had Blake about "Why hitting has declined." Chaulk layed it out for the team to see and hear. He said this is the type of game the Komets must play each night to win. They must be physical and play with grit. It does worry me some that our Captain has to fight when he just came off of a wrist injury. I love the heart and toughness he shows.

I totally agree with SCOOPs, hope they bring that style of play home so we can see it and they keep the effort there every game, no matter who we play. There cannot be any more "Sunday Games" where they give no effort for whatever reason (tired, bored, over-confident, hung-over, still drunk?). Keep up the effort level and we may have a team here finally.

Thanks for all the comments from everyone. I know some of the players sometimes read this blog and will be happy to hear positive things for once. Sounds like they earned it.

Hey Blake which like to read the Blog? I am happy to see that Chaulk came out in thepaper and stated that this team must play a physical style of hockey to win games. He had already backed up that statement with his play in the game. The lackof games over the next week should allow for minor injuries to heal and skating legs to come back.

I've wondered if the players read this blog. And, I've wonder if they comment? I think it's awesome that some of the guys read the blog..to get an eye view on what the fans think.

I don't think I should say. They like to protect their anonymity as well. I'm the only fool here who has to use his real name. LOL.

So do I, Mark. Apparently, it's optional. ;)

Great job, Komets! Saturday was one of the best games I've seen all season!

After Hunter got the winning goal in the shootout, and the guys were skating off the ice, Drouin and Dupuis were both grinning at the fans, even in our section (23). What a blast!

Me and my best friend ended up following the bus the entire way home (and it wasn't even on purpose). That was an interesting experience! LOL

Uh, Laurie, care to expand on that, or do we even want to go there? LOL.

Laurie

Uh... well, if I didn't know any better, I'd say their driver was either (a) drunk, (b) on the run from the cops, or (c) distracted, because he was swerving all over the road and fluctuating speed rather ridiculously. LOL

Does that answer your question? I always take my video camera on roadtrips, so I got it all on video if you need proof! ;)

That's one way to put it, Blake. LOL

Either way, it was pretty funny and my friend was driving like a maniac, trying to keep up with them. Good times! :)

(My best friend sounds like a stalker, doesn't she? LOL)
