Tailing the Komets

Huge crowd expected

The Komets will have a large crowd tonight thanks to more than 3,000 tickets sold to groups over the summer. Hopefully everyone can get in on time because Danny Stewart for Danbury and Lance Galbraith for the Komets are in the starting lineup. They'll probably go within seconds of the opening faceoff. That's pretty funny considering they were best friends as teammates.

Here's a few other notes of note:

* The Komets have set a new UHL Komets record by killing off 35 consecutive power plays against. The previous record of 34 was set in 1999-2000.

* This is the first time in the Komets' 54-year history that the team has shut out three consecutive opponents. Mike O'Neill had three consecutive shutouts in 1991-92, but the games were not back-to-back.

* The Komets need to go 7:06 without giving up a goal to break the team and UHL record for consecutive shutout streak. The Komets enter the game at 181 minutes, 55 seconds. The Komets set the record of 189 minutes and 21 seconds last season.

Nope, not Galbraith, he will only go in a Debate of some sort. He talks too much and plays hockey too little. Can we trade him for a broken stick?

Speaking of 'broken sticks'....Anyone notice how many sticks don't get broke now that Virag's gone?

how many records have been tied/broken this year by the komets or a komets player? How does this compare to years past. This is a test for Blakes komet filled brain.

Also, penalty kill streak, consecutive shutouts and consecutive shutout streak, not too bad for a team that a lot of people have been ripping on their defense.

i thought we would pick up two wins this weekend but i wasn't counting on the other teams within reach to win as well. plus i think this is the second time rockford and quad city went to a shootout (so they both would get points) fairly recently.

and if you're going to lose, lose big! i told J man early on in the game that it appeared that things were going Danburys way and not ours (with the breaks that is).

and with Berkerbiles performance last night he has overtaken Searle as my worst ref choice, also Mondalek has shown up on my radar this year and is probably tied with searle for second.
