Thanks Blake! Mr. Taylor I have found to be a straight shooter. I believe he spoke the truth. That is good news for a change. Bloomington is a "Team" (IHL) player also. You may have to go to Thailand to speak to Mr. Perani. Do you think the paper will foot that bill? Ha Ha!!

He's on the other line, calling collect.

I always had a lot of respect for Tim after three years ago when he was totally upfront on trying to get other teams to join the ECHL. He never ducked it, was totally open about it and didn't go behind anyone's back. No, that's not a slam on anyone else, either.

This is great news, the news I was waiting for. This puts Kalamazoo in a tough position now. They have made a huge risk, and it looks like a very bad move. I hope that Pickard's boneheaded move does not screw the fans there. Kalamazoo's options for hockey now are bad. ECHL? travel will be a killer for them. Will the fans in K-Zoo buy into the teams they will play 12-14 times a year? No more rivalries like muskegon, flint, FW, and Port Huron. Kalamazoo was the team right square in the middle of the geographic footprint of the IHL...now they are somewhere in the armpit of the ECHL and even worse in the CHL...they might be where the sun don't shine in that league's region. It looks like Junior Hockey or "A" hockey if they can get by the 3 year ban on pro and amateur hockey by-law of the IHL. They are in a bad spot to say the least....and Pickard is to blame. He is an idiot of epic proportions.

The IHL is sounding like they will move on "full speed ahead" and seem to be shrugging this off fine with plans of further expansion of up to 3 teams this year and more after this year. How awesome would it be if you have an IHL that looked like this in 2 years:
FW
Indy
Dayton
Cincy
Evansville
Bloomington
Quad City
Peoria
Musky
Port Huron
Flint
Toledo

With Kalamazoo playing in the AAHL or worse?

I say dumb dumb dumb Mr. Pickard.

People are saying that he was negotiating this move well before March 16th when he was clearly acting as the Commish of the IHL and he was trying to make a Sweet deal for the K-Wings......where was Mr. Pickards heart during expansion talks with the Sears Center, Madison, and other places? Where was his heart when Flint was going down mid-season and he replied only to say "Flint fans are too negative..."

Great job Paulsy.

There you go again "Hit Somebody!!" Rumors, Rumors and more Rumors. While I would love see that happen be honest it is just your desire. I still do not think Kalamazoo is done with the IHL. Whatever their problems or whoever it is causing the problem will come out in the wash. It all may just be a power struggle and when they have the league meetings get straightened out. I can hope! I sure will miss the trips to Kzoo.

Dschebig -

Kalamazoo is done in the IHL and will not come back. The official announcement was burning the big, remaining bridge. It's not a ploy, they literally do not want to be in the league and would likely go dark a year rather than return.

If something would have been "worked out" it would have been done done so in the past 12 months or whatever. Clearly it couldn't be, and the Wings executed Plan B.

I fear you are correct. I just have not figured out WHY! We are all missing some very important facts. I am sure they will eventually come out. But I can always hold out hope! Somebody has said or done something that has really upset the Kzoo owner (at least he is being named the fall guy). We (hockey fans) are just not privy to that key piece of information. I just think this is a very sad situation. What will be, will be!

Did someone just cut down a person for rumors, then completely turn around and agree with the next blog who backed up the first? Makes sense.

I can't wait for some hockey so we can talk about the things that we saw actually happen.

Blake: Thanks for staying on top of all this stuff as it has been coming out rapid-fire over the past week on top of your other obligations.

K-zoo didn't execute plan B. They executed themselves.

You are hillarious Dschebig....a riot to be exact. Funny thing being is you were one of the guys doubting the so called rumor about K-Zoo leaving the league over the weekend when that came true.....and now you continue to bash me. Ok, for now on, I will only have a thought if and when you approve it. Your majesty.

What exactly did I say that was a rumor? Do you think this K-Zoo thing just happened this week? Wade Welsh said it is something they have been planning for months, back to the first of the year at least. Word leaked out on it in March and everyone doubted the guy that said it....and he was right.

Bash the guys that have contacts around this league all you want....but this guy was on top of it....and Pickard and Company have alot of expalining to do. Conflict of interest and the rest of the league and the IHL fans should be ticked off at Paul Pickard for being a back-stabbing piece of rubbish.
Sorry.

I doubt that Paul Pickard is on the Franke Family Christmas Card list any longer.....how about you Mr. Dschebig....you still have your buddy Pickard on your list? Can you still send a resume to him for me....I'd like to be his media relations guy that chooses not to pick-up the phone when it rings from places all around the league.....

Hit Somebody!!! I am on your side on this one. The rumors were in fact for all the new cities joining the league. Nice thought but just that a thought. I never take things personal. I do not think you would want to be a round PP right now. It may not be healthy. He is not now and never was my "Buddy". However when you are the "Commissioner" there is a certain amount of respect you have earned. He has thrown all of his away. I doubt is there is anyway for him to get it back. I was out of town all week-end and got in on the "Gossip" or news about Kalamazoo a little late. After all my years (and that's a lot) I will admit I was dumbfounded about Kzoo. Maybe a just didn't want to believe it or except it. I still don't. My bad for sure! I am two things for sure, #1. a Komet Fan & #2. Loyal to the the IHL or whatever league we play in.
