Looks like Warner is gonna being on the IR to start the season along with Starenky. Did he mess his shoulder up during Sunday's game?

I listened on the website and it sounded like Leo has made team. And if BW is on IR who is 6th defenseman?

Ease up, KK, that was taped this afternoon, and that was the information as we knew it at that time. They'll make final cuts tomorrow.

That should fix the link. Thanks Y2K

So do the K's move a forward to Defense until Starenky or Warner come off the IR or do we sign someone else that just replaces Warner in the long run.

I don't know Y2K. We'll find out tomorrow.

I just tried it and it worked fine. Don't know what to tell you Hit.

Pffft.

Like there is any plans to replace the Golden Boy.

He is here to stay Komet Fans.

They found a way to slide him in during the summer. Think back when this blogger told you guys that their were people talking that Warner was being seen at Canlan skating with the in town Veterans and Returnees. Franke was quoted by Blakes as saying that he hadn't talked to Brandon but if he wanted to come to camp he could. Then they reported he was coming to camp and had no locked spot. Then Mangos retires.. No one else was brought in to challenge for a camp spot on Defense and they had plenty of time to find someone. Olivier Hotte was window dressing in my opinion, he was awful in Dayton and Blake even said that he wasn't good in camp. If they didn't want Brandon Warner, then they wouldn't have added him to the camp roster, and now here we are with him on the team.

Steven Later is available, but somehow he doesn't skate well enough for this team...Pfffft. Not buying it.

I could be wrong I guess. Maybe there is someone coming in that replaces Golden Boy.

I doubt it though.

I has been kind of convenient that BWs has made it this far this season.

I know I know, Hit Somebody=Full of Krap and MORAN.
+/-, moves puck, kisses babies and shakes hands, Frankie loves him.....blah blah blah.

Whew.....

I feel a little better letting that out.

LOL

Now who is this Brandon Warner and what team is he on?

What is the definition of Open Camp???

If you want me to join in... I don't think Mangos was ever coming. I think he signed with the intent to maybe come if he was healed up, but he was nowhere close to 100% when he signed. If I knew it, I'm sure people much more important than me did. I don't have a problem with them signing him to make sure he's a Komet if he does play, but it should have been known then that it was a distinct possibility that he wouldn't be in camp.

You all can make what you want of it, but I don't know what the connection is between the Komets and Warner. It's mysterious to me.

Blake question for you. Do you feel that Al and/or David are what some would term people of Comfort? What I mean is really no radical changes were made to the core of the hockey team and most coaches/management will always gravitate towards a comfort zone when playing or bringing back players because they know what to do and expect. I guess you could throw Chaulk into that mix because players want to play with guys they are comfortable with. When the statements were made after last year that "major" changes were in store I always felt those were off the cuff reactions that held little weight becuase there had not been enough time and energy spent to really evaluate the last season as a whole.
The major changes to the team is really on the back end on defense with really only Frankie and D. Molle returning up front only two changes really have been made adding Smith and Benefield. It appears that comfort won out in the end and not an overhaul of the total roster. In the end it is going to come down to who out of Lapointe, Thorne, Rizk, Auger, Mele will be kept. All but Thorne and Rizk have been assigned numbers on the roster as of 10/16. Don't want to read much into that but that could be your first clue..

I really hope they don't get rid of Rizk, I can see a team like Bloomington picking him and him making us pay every time we face him...Go younger!

Mangos not coming really had nothing to do with his shoulder. It was a personal situation. He barely made it through the season last year because of it. I'm not going to tell you what it was, but it was legitimate.

No, I dont' think so Sgriffith, and I'll give you some examples. They have never been shy about going ou and getting the one piece of the puzzle they need to fix something, and they've never cared who they had to trade to do it, either. Scott Gruhl was a signing in 1991, Kevin MacDonald, Hankinson and Richard in 93, Chad Cabana, Josh Tataryn in 2003, Andrei Bashkirov, Bruce Racine, in 1997, The Hukalao for Kotyluk trade. They are really good at going out and finding the one piece that may or may not put them over the top during the season.

Last year, it was just really hard to find 8-10 players to replace what was missing. This year I think they'll be ruthless in pulling the trigger on anyone because they have a much more solid base and they think they can go a long way.

You're also forgetting Chaumont and Auger up front. THey'll basically replace half the forwards from last year, if not more. I think Mele will make the team. I think Thorne will make the team. That's six starting forwards out of 10.

It's not that they haven't replaced everyone, some people just want Drouin, Warner and Thomas gone, period. They could replace everyone but them, get a first-place team, with those guys all making major contributions, and some would not be satisfied no matter what. They could end up with a max of nine or so players back from last year, or it could be six or seven. We'll all find out tomorrow.

I've said all along I thought this roster won't be set until Thanksgiving, and I think some veterans will go by then if not before.

Wed, 10/19/2011 - 8:52pm

If that is the roster tomorrow. They basically did this only:

Curadeau gone Bennefield in.
OC gone Auger in.
Patrosso gone Chaumont in.
Leo not a Center Smith in.
Lardner gone Leo new RWer.

Guy Retire Milam in.
Ratchuk Columbus Gone B Molle in
Krug gone Llewellyn in
Cescon traded Starenky in.

I see some improvement here and there.

But I am lost on how we brought in quality Rookies that were reported as having great camps being hungrier, quicker, and better through out camp and they are on the verge of cutting them.

11 Returnees Folks.

Lip Service from your GM and Coach.

If they don't start out strong, the GM and Coach should be fired.

I agree with what you are saying about Rizk, GM. He's a project, but a versatile one.

Again Hit, I said Brandon struggled the first two days. The third day he was very good and then came the games. I thought he played well Sunday and didnt' see Friday.

You're reading only what you want to read for some reason.

Blake Sebring
Wed, 10/19/2011 - 8:57pm

You're also assuming they are going to cut the rookies. I don't think we can say that yet. If they were, why keep them around another week? What's the point of that? Maybe they are trying to work a deal somewhere to get what they think they need so they CAN keep the rookies. There are a whole lot of possibilities still out there.

I said you said Hotte was bad...not Warner. LOL

You just read what you wanted to read.....lol

Here is another observation when you look at the forwards of guys who are willing to take punishment and give it I really on see 2 who play that role with Bennefield and Schrock and yes I do mean guys who will fight and stir the pot so to speak. On the back end with Starenky out you really have only one in Molle but at times last year I thought he was non existant in that department. The question will B. Molle and Llewellyn use their size to deliver punishment in the defensive zone and be willing to do the dirty work. While the series with Rapid City was a good one I do think in the end the K's were out "tough" in that series

Blake Sebring
Wed, 10/19/2011 - 9:02pm

I agree. They didn't step up when they had the chance.

Thorne does. I think Rizk will. I think Leo will more as a forward. Both Molles will. I don't know enough about Llewellyn yet to say.

Wed, 10/19/2011 - 9:03pm

SG makes a good point.

The reason to keep Rizk, Thorne, and Ywnge partly was the physical size and speed. And the going in front of the net and in the corners.

God love my buddy PC....but he is Euro in the physical Department and he doesn't play the front of the net well, nor will he check consistantly. He won't fight.

I hope Blakes is right. But who are they shopping around in a trade to keep the rookies?

Not Leo....Not PC...Lapointe?

JungleMonkey
Wed, 10/19/2011 - 9:05pm

Its going to be hard to sell the "ruthless in pulling the trigger" when they won't even do it in an "open" camp.

Blake Sebring
Wed, 10/19/2011 - 9:05pm

Yet Warner had the best plus-minus of any d-man who played in both exhibition games and was second on the team with five shots. And he had a fighting major.

Blake Sebring
Wed, 10/19/2011 - 9:06pm

Again, we don't know that yet, JM. Could be that's one reason why they are being so quiet about it.

JungleMonkey
Wed, 10/19/2011 - 9:07pm

I could see them shopping LaPointe in a trade. PC isn't trade bait. We know he won't report. Leo.. hard to know.
