Of course we know if he is staying around town that if a mid season injury takes place he might be on the hotline...

As of now no need for more cuts with Warner and Starenky on the IR...Leaves us at 19 players. of course 1 forward won't be playing and maybe someone makes a temp. move to D to fill in as the sixth dman.

Let's stop and remember all the success PC brought to the Komets--he should be appreciated and respected as he was a great mentor to so many of the players!

IR or not, PC is a better player than Warner. There are about 3-4 other guys (Warner, Auger, Leo, Lapointe) they could have cut before PC. I like the fact they are focused on getting younger but cutting PC before Warner is a joke. Maybe they cut him to save money on bringing in a vet defenseman.

OK, so that answers a couple of questions. The Komets will release a veteran, and will release a player who has contributed to three championships.
It also answers the question that just because a player has a number, and records his introduction, he is not invulnerable to being let go.
I'm not surprised at all. The other day I blogged that if they were forced to make a decision, I would release P.C. before Leo Thomas.
Still, I am a little confused. Didn't they say that two players needed to be let go. Does the addition of Warner to the IR account for the 2nd player?
If you think about it, the release of Drouin makes sense, not only in terms of skill vs. others on the roster, but in some intangibles too. First, he is a Fort Wayne resident. Unless he decides to follow another CHL offer he would be here in town if he was needed. Second, he is a veteran. This opens the "veteran spots" a little wider. Third, and I'm only assuming now, his release opens up a hole in the salary cap which may be used later by the Komets if someone would become available.
Those are my thoughts. Yours?
I find it interesting that the posts above are speculating that Garrett Klotz is the Mightbite "mystery man". When you think about it, I can see where his signing could be attractive to Mightbite. Klotz is a big, physical forward.
Still.....Is this the announcement I have been waiting for? Garrett Klotz? THE Garrett Klotz? I understand the importance of grinders, power forwards, and the enforcer role. Still, is Garrett Klotz is the best the K's could do?
If it is, I will root for him, but can't help to admit to being disappointed if, he is indeed, their choice.

He is on an AHL roster. If that means anything? LOL
He is a monster. 6-5 471# I think. He eats metal and kraps nails.
Ok, maybe not that heavy, but he is big.
I don't doubt mighty if this is the guy he has been hinting.

Klots has spent most of his professional hockey career in the AHL. He's huge, very physical, very good fighter, will play a regular shift, disciplined, and will chip in a handful of goals...I would gladly take him here.

Frowdawg yes you did read that correctly just calling it like I saw it last year. The rush did out "tough" the K's last year and seriously question if that will not happen this year.

I not so sure about that sgriffith. I seen the Rush this year and they have lost a lot of the physical type players they had last year. Knowles is a good addtion but the type of game they play will be all together different this year.
