Nice article. Always have to defend hockey players as athletes to my misinformed friends.

Many years ago a co-worker who had never been to a hockey game or put on a pair of skates but had kids playing soccer claimed soccer was harder because they had to run, not "glide up and down the ice on skates".
Another co-worker, a baseball fanatic, would talk about how fast a baseball could travel and how bad it could hurt getting hit by one. Again, he'd never been to a hockey game. One morning I grabbed a frozen puck out of the freezer and took it in and handed to him, asking him how much he figured getting hit by that at around 100 MPH would feel. He became a believer....
