alittle off subject, but I was in Nashville over the weekend to take in the Predators/Red Wings game. First off, it was the best game I have seen in awhile. Both goalies made stand on your head saves and both got the goose egg. Good OT period and the shoot-out had 11 shooters before it was a final. Nice arena, friendly crowd. The Predators come out to Welcome to the Jungle so I kinda felt at home and when they scored their only goal in the SO they played Gary Glitter RR part 2 and Yes they chanted "You Suck" which also made me feel at home. With all that said and I have said this before, I was impressed to see how many people knew who the Fort Wayne Komets, my family and I wore Komet gear to the game and got many comments from people. I know people get on here and whine about how the team is doing horrible or this player or that player sucks or is playing horrible..but you know what, I am proud to be a Komet fan. I love the arena, I love the crowd (most of the time) I love that we pay $4 for parking and not $15. I love that we have a good product on the ice year after year. How cares who is hurt and why and how long they are going to be out, they have their reasons for not telling us the whole truth, people speculate, start rumors, etc. Why dont we just sit back and enjoy that we have a good organization here and a pretty decent hockey team year in and year out.
Ok, rant over. Big Weekend! Let go Boys...Lets Go Komets!

Didn't know where to post this info....maybe Blake wants to move it into its own post???

Call me a Nellie.....But this ain't good news for our IHL.

This might mean that there is something in the works that combines the IHL teams left with the ECHL or CHL? Something has to give. Because my worry, Flint gone, Muskegon gone.....where does that leave Port Huron?

How about next to the big foot posts, no lease - no ice

How about next to the horses rear in Flint. Mr. Savage is the know all guy you think he is. I don't claim that title either.

I don't doubt what is going on here. Same sources that reported K-Zoo last year, Muskegon this year, are also the same ones sharing info on Flint.

The only thing that saves the Generals in the IHL.....is a new owner jumping in and buying the team in the next couple of days.....or the NAHL secures a team at Perani, and the IHL is sunk in Flint.

That is how this thing is going right now. I don't think the Frankes can save Flint, unless they want to admit thay own the team, and buy it.

I should add, is Flint worth saving??? They might not be. But this hurts Port Huron bigtime. It puts them out on an island, and I think Port Huron might have to do the samething, go Juniors.

What does this mean for Fort Wayne? ECHL....??? Some kind of merger?

Something has to give folks.

Well, Hit, you've been right twice so far up to this point, and if I recall correctly you got bashed for saying those things also because they hadn't been reported yet in Fort Wayne. You could very well be going for the three-peat here. You haven't been off yet (other than that whole collarbone fiasco of course), so I have no reason as of yet to dismiss your claims. Your logic also makes sense also. Don't get me wrong, I hope Flint stays, but at the same time, I can't argue with you that it may not be worth saving. The fans are casting their votes up there by their lack of attendance. If the Frankes are funding the operation up there, it almost seems like we are forcing hockey on them. If they don't want to watch it (which their actions are speaking louder than their words), don't force it.

Agreed.

How about playing against K-Zoo, Toledo, Cincy, Dayton, Bloomington, Port Huron, etc. next season in a new division of the ECHL.

Give it the green light. I can't wait to make those roadies next season. The breadsticks in K-Zoo are awesome...mmmmmm.

I haven't had the chance to think this all the way through as yet, but just the fact that Perani Arena has had some talks with the USHL and more serious talks with the NAHL sure doesn't sound good for the IHL.

While nothing has been decided as yet, I sure had great hopes for the IHL when the season began. Many of you regular bloggers may recall how I kept stating that the addition of Quad City was imperative. Even then I thought the IHL would have to survive for two more years before it could grow. I was hoping that the Illinois market would open up with Rockford and/or Peoria joining up with a re-newed Chicago franchise to make a nice division (competitive with built-in rivalries, and cheaper with less travel for those teams).

Muskegon's decision to fall out of the league, combined with the Kalamazoo move last year may be the death knell for the "I". You just can't expect any league to continuously put out "fires". Not with the margin of error the IHL has to live with.

There are so many unanswered questions out there. Just the fact that the STH information was so "sketchy" about playoff possibilities. The fact that Michael Franke, in his interview, stated "whatever league the Komets are playing in" just screams out the word "uncertainty."

Well, I love Komet hockey and I'm just going to be patient and let the Franke's get to wherever they have to in order to survive another season. That is all any of us can do.

Well the IHL bought an industrial size box of band-aids and I dont think the box is quite empty yet.... Although the amount needed to keep the IHL limping into another season may be too much....

How will everyone feel if we do go to a league like the ECHL and get that instigator penalty having, penalty parade hockey league again?

Flint has just under 2 weeks to get something done as far as pulling in a new owner goes... I dont see that as enough time to secure IHL hockey for Flint next season...

Like Hit said, where we get this info has been pretty spot on for the last couple season's (although not perfect) and I wouldnt bet against it....

If the Komets go to the E. What would the I do with the Chicago and Evansville franchises?
Scenerio #1. Different league but same concept as in types of players and same hockey rules and salaries as the I. With the rumors of cinci leaving the E, they could join the Komets in this new league.
#2. Merge with the CHL along with QC and Bloomington. This would likely be the end of the future Chicago and Evansville franchises. Port huron would likely go to juniors and compete with their friends to the east. Dayton would probably go dark the next year to regroup.
#3. The Komets go to the E and form a new division with Toledo,Kallamazoo,Bloomington and QC.
And finally. #4. Stay with the I. Bring in Chicago and Evansville and put us through H E double hockey sticks for another year.

If I had to choose. I would say the winner will be behind curtain #4

BTW, if anything is done, its gotta be done quick... Leagues are already starting to get preliminary schedules together for next season.

I can't help agreeing with Hit on considering if Flint is even worth it. You make good points for keeping them in, Port Huron and the general good of the league, but is it worth the cost? Is it even possible for a team to survive there and if not who is making enough money now that they can afford a minor league hockey team as a write off?

How well can Flint support a team, even lower level non-affiliated juniors? With massive lay-offs in their police and fire departments and not being able to open the city golf course (not sure how many there are) I think things look pretty bad for Flint, period. Last one out turn off the lights.

I'm confident we'll have hockey in the Fort next season, the Frankes, bless them, will make sure of that. Thank you so very much.

What league? If not the I then the E, I would imagine. Don't see the A coming in and that's probably a good thing too as much as I hate to admit it. Maybe a few years down the road.

Steve-Savage is going to bottle "Hot Air" and sell it. With all the money he will make he can buy the Generals. Burgee says he has lot of nice dresses. What I don't know is Burgee actually saw them (dresses) or was on some of his meds.
