Jorde is returning

Ryan Jorde has been released from his three-game tryout contract with Grand Rapids. He'll be back at practice tomorrow. The Komets sure could have used him on Sunday. How many times did Danbury crash the net without any problems? In three games with Grand Rapids last weekend Jorde had 2 penalty minutes and was minus-1.

Teams crash the net without any problems when Jorde is out there, he's not going to help that much! He didn't before, and he won't now!

Had Jorde been here yesterday, wouldn't that of been something to see him shut the "Stewart faithful" up with a nice little scrap off the draw. You can bet it would of been hyped up for it to happen and rest assured it would of been more hype. Nobody here Sunday (outside of Summerfield) had the gull to do anything and Jorde doesn't stike me as someone who would of tried to win some fans over either.

boy you guys are really hard on Jorde. I thought our defense improved once he came aboard.

Jorde and Galbraith both are so tough. But Jorde is a superstar!!! He would of scored 6 goals and fought 3 times last night. He would of done all of this standing at center ice waiting for our guys to lose the puck in the offensive zone while he was cherry picking to get back on defense. I'm sure he would of at least fell down in front of one of those odd man rushes and accidently broke up the play. I thought after the numbers he has put up here and at Danbury earlier this year, and also in the AHL, that he surely would have gotten called up to the NHL. Crap, I wish he would have. Can't someone call him back up? I still wonder where I can get my Jorde Jersey in a pretty pink tone. Jorde, you're our savior. In Jorde we trust.

Hustle!!!

Did I mention how excited we all are about Jorde returning? Whoopieeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!

We will probably waive one of our better younger players like Bozoian or Summerfield to make room for him right? I heard Summerfield stayed after the Fan Skate last night to shake hands with all who participated and thanked them for coming to the game last night. That is the type of class that we need on this team. He also seems to Hustle and play hard too. The only guy on the ice not afraid to mix it up last night with Danny the Great. And after all of that, it wouldn't surprise me if he is released in the next week. If so, what a bunch of crap. Did anyone spot Mr. Galbraith shaking any hands after the game last night? Take away the "A" off his sweater and waive him goodbye. What a jerk this guy has turned out to be. Nice penalty last night Lance. Show your butt to the ref after we are down 6-1. That's the way to earn the referee's respect. Think we will get any calls the rest of the year? Nice leadership.

What ever happened to having somewhat intelligent conversations and comments here?
Would we think the same about both these guys (Jorde and Galbraith) hadn't they not gotten the press they did before they arrived? Galbraith was supposed to remind Komet fans of Bezeau. That comparison as it stands has been nowhere in the same galaxy. Bezeau was an entertainer first and foremost. A TRUE energy guy who probably never went a game in a Komet uniform without doing something you would talk about the next day.
Galbraith showed some of that early on, then caught flack for always being in the box for doing more talking than walking(some of it undeserved). He then leaves the team and gets more heat. Returns as a player doing NONE of the stuff he was doing before he left and gets even more wrath. With Smith's absence, I think he is trying to more of a scoring help but he isn't exactly doing that either. Personally, I think there is something wrong with him. I don't know if its whatever he left the team for or if he is hurt. Often times he goes down to the ice innocently and gets up like just got hit by a truck. I just don't see the fire in him since he has come back from his leave of absense. Penalties or not, I like how he played before he left. He may not have channeled his emotion in the right way all the time but at the very least he was getting into people's heads and being a menace, all while putting points on the board too. At least I could see some passion in his game. I mean take a look at two observations. Early on, Chaulker gets hit by a Motor Coty guy and Lance come out of nowhere and gets all up in his grill. No he is simply skating away from anything confrontational and even being a good soldier and breaking up scrums. It doesn't add up to me and I don't buy its Puhulski's doing either. My opinion of him is there is something personal going on that none of us know about (and its none of our business) and possibly if we understood whatever it is...we may all be a little less harsh.
Jorde is right in the same boat. Talked up as being this hulk. Part of it is justfying the trade of Stewart. "We lose a popular, gritty, tough forward but look at what we are bringing in Komet fans." Part of it false advertisement (somewhat) and part of it us wanting him to be like Stewart. Then he fans the fire and makes a statement that we'll like him once he starts dropping the gloves. It was nice. Just do it more when its needed. Be a leader. After seeing him for myself, I see him now as a stay at home guy, period. He is not going to put up points and he is not going to put up naughty minutes every night. I have come to accept that now and its time all of you accept that this is what he is. He is not a sloth and not a player who should be wearing pink either. He is a average player who does a little of this and a little of that.
Lets hope for some fire on Friday night....

Scoops youre awesome! Hustle was talking to himself a little too much.

Some people need to get real and realize this is minor league hockey 2 steps or so from the NHL. Guys are here because they make mistakes, because they take nights off, because they are not tough enough, because their head is not in the game every night.

And their human beings too. Scoops may be right. Maybe theres something else going on with Galbraith.

Don't get all caught up in the hype. Just watch a guy play and take him at that.

Why did everyone think Jorde was a big bruiser anyway? I think Scoops hit it on the head with his thoughts on Jorde.

Look at his PIM before he got here. A big bruiser who hits doesn't have minimal minutes. A simple look at that stat should have told you that. He's a stay at home guy who just tries to keep the puck out of the net like Kevin Schmidt did. Anybody ever see Schmidt lay anyone out? yet everyone thought he was awesome. Jorde gets ragged on cause he's big.

But, you know why he doesn't stick inthe AHL with his size? Because he doesn't use it! And he's not going to change. Stop beating your head against the wall.

Good for you, scoops, for standing up for Galbraith. I've been wondering the same thing, if maybe there's something else going on behind closed doors that we don't know about. He seems distracted, but I still love the guy, despite his shortcomings. Yes, he's a hockey player with definite talent (to say the least), but there's just been something strange about him recently.

Totally random, but I have to say that I LOVE Chaulk's tie in this pic: http://www.kometsphotos.com/Trashers/KOM_0437.JPG LOL

I do pick on Jorde quite a bit, but my problem, especially after Sunday's game, is none of our defensemen hit anyone! I find it amusing that the person I see playing the most physical is Goodwin, and I never thought I would say that. Anyway, can anyone figure out how to fill the wholes in the swiss cheese we have for defense? It looks like Frenchy faces 10-15 penalty shots every night. As we all know, the defense really needs to step things up, and to me that starts with putting bodies on the opposing players. It doesn't mean fighting and taking penalties, it means being in your guys face and letting him know you're there and nothing easy about it.

Oh come on Sniper. The 10-15 penalty shots might have been right against Danbury, but what about the 3 shutouts prior to that? Or that in the 15 games before that they allowed only 20 goals. Swiss cheese defenses don't do that. Back to inane thoughts I guess

Sniper

Sure it was an exaggeration, but even in the shutouts that I saw the opposing team still had plenty of good chances. You cannot tell me we play great team defense, because if we did our record would be better. Yes the team is improving, but the defense still has to continue to improve. Too many easy chances for the opposing team. Too many mental lapses on D.

"You cannot tell me we play great team defense, because if we did our record would be better."

11-6 in those last 17 games. At that pace over a full season that's 50-28.

I know they haven't beat the top teams. No need to mention that

I'm so happy that Ryan is playing again. He loves hockey, and if he is given the chance and has the support, he can kick some butt. I dated him for a little while when he played in Rochester and that man has a passion and it's hockey. He just has not had the best support from his coaches... It makes a huge difference. He doesn't like the spotlight, he loves to play hockey, so let him do it and prove to everyone that he can!

I know...lol:) Thats why I had to clarify. I think that he has potential to be a great hockey player and I just wanted everyone to know that before they judge too quickly and don't give him the chance. He has had some injuries and yes, that has hampered his ability, but he is young and has a few more years ahead of him. No intention to embarrass anyone, but maybe him:) lol
