I wondered what the numbers were looking like in Muskegon, Flint and Port Huron.
Oh, my word!
Flint (Michigan in NAHL) 12,632 fans in 14 dates, 902 average
Port Huron (NAHL) 10,189 fans in 13 dates, 783 average. (Team is 1-20-1)
NAHL average is 1,267
Muskegon (USHL) 23,.531 for 11 dates, 2,139 average.

So Fort Wayne could go to a lower level of talent where the Framkes could pay out less for players and roughly the same amount of people would continue to pay to watch them anyhow. Is that what you're getting at or did I miss the point of this?
Port Huron 1-20-1....wow. I can imagine how ugly the posts are on their blog......:(
Looks like the attendance numbers are down slightly (just not by much) to when those communities had professional hockey.
Yes, but Musky made it on Around the Horn the other night...
Speaking of Musky. Anyone else see this highlight? Not too shabby...

Every league has its highlights I suppose. Kid looks to have some moves.
You missed the point runningkomet. Lead sentence alluded to being curious. Nothing more nothing less.
Last year in the IHL these teams averaged:
Flint 1868
PH 1627
Musk 2932
And just for the heck of it Kalamazoo is averaging 2942 so far this year, down almost 500/game from their (total) average of 3433 last year and down about 250/game from their average their last year in the IHL. Of course there's plenty of time for their average to go up with most of the season left.
I just love how people try to read something into the most basic simple statements here. Boggles my puny mind!!!
Then why start a thread about it? I will agree about your mind though.
I bet K-Zoo fan wouldn't admit that less people are going to those games.....
They would surely find a way to slant those numbers to prove that the ECHL is superior to Fort Wayne and that people want the ECHL because of the affiliation they have with the NHL and that the true hockey fans are coming to the games unlike they did in the IHL....
LMAO
Bottomline.....Kalamazoo is on an Island. No one cares anymore there about the K-Wings.....and they will never admit this, but it is more important to the fans there to have teams to play like Muskegon, Fort Wayne, Flint, etc, than to be affiliated with an NHL team.
Never will anyone there admit it.
Oh well.
<----- Going to K-Zoo Saturday for their home game!
Cool Scoot, be sure to wear a bunch of Komet gear and root for Toledo, it should bring back fond memories for their fans.. :-)
RK, dang, what's your problem lately? Been awful snippy. You need to get back out on the farm and milk some cows or something. Just saying...............
I always wear my jersey when im their. Im pretty good friends with some season ticket holders their.
What are you talking aboit, Steve? I asked a question. And I just came from the farm. Old MacDonald asked me to tell you to leave his sheep alone and he doesn't care how cold or lonely you get around the holidays. Just saying...
*about
Baaaaa means NO!
RK is always like that. But what do I know? I'm just a typical woman.
What are you doing out of the kitchen anyways?
Sorry RK, but it wasn't his sheep I was keepin' warm. You just seem to be in rare form lately, no offense meant.
GM, thanks for the advise, how long did it take you to figure what what they were saying too you?
I don't know, but I'm fairly certain the point of the post was to illustrate that with the change to a lower league, the attendance in those cities is basically non-existent.
Could've been the cue phrase, "Oh my word," then the citation of the attendance drop off numbers followed by the negative comparison to league numbers that led me to that conclusion.
Your right Chad, K-Zoo sucks.
I hope we get a "Blizzard"
Komets win 3 this weekend
Is thinking some of you guys are hormonal...
well.. take this into consideration then.. i was at redwings / jackets game in columbus day after thanksgiving. the game was for first place in the conference. this game was sold out, but columbus is averaging 11,800 a game! awesome arena, awesome downtown, to bad not many fans.
Hockey attendance numbers? Who has time to read about that? I'm too busy learning how to drop 30 lbs. in a month without exercising!!! And finding recipes for festive holiday desserts the whole family will love!!!! And inexplicably using multiple exclamation marks for everything!!!! ;)
Seriously though, some of those numbers in the NHL are nothing short of disgraceful. A number of teams, like Atlanta, are doing very well, and the people still aren't coming out to see them. I suppose it takes time, but still...
As for the junior teams up in MI, phhhhhhht. Whatever.
Rk you asked they question about whether you missed the point. I said you missed the point. Then you jump on me. What the h$%& is your problem ? If you dont like an answer why the heck ask the question??? Just sayin.
Wendy since when do you need to drop 30 lbs.?? You look fine to me! Reffering you to your own poolside pic.
Aw thanks. I'm not runway model weight (I wish I were), but I was actually just making fun of women's magazines. Check out the covers. They never fail to have a story about how to lose weight mentioned side by side with a story about how to bake some kind of sinful-looking sweets. Cracks me up.
Interesting game with Jersey and Ottawa tonight. Jersey reminds me a little of the Komets struggles thus far this season.
