Tailing the Komets

Komets up 2-1 after two

Dayton scored on a perfect 2-on-1 as Tim Hartung set up Mike Vaskivuo for a slap shot over Kevin Reiter's shoulder. Perfect shot, too. Craig Cescon fought Dayton's Kyle Bochek at the end of the period. Bobby Phillips stood up for Mathieu Curadeau after a check at center ice. Can't let anyone take a questionable hit like that, especially someone you are counting on to be a team leader this season. Thought Warner and Dupuis looked pretty good on the PP. Ward is kind of sneaky around the net. He doesn't look like he's moving that fast, but he's always in the middle of things. He played with Naurato and Patrosso there for a while and that was interesting. Naurato kind of reminds me of Steffon Walby. He's always got his legs open with a low center of gravity so

They had to get the ribbon board because they couldn't fit any more ads on the ice!

Did anyone notice the ribbon board was messed up towards the end of the game. This is my only gripe about the game. Good hitting and good team work.

It's preseason, they're not going to be showing all of it's tricks yet. Wait for the regular season and I'm sureyoull see a lot more

Tyler Fletcher stood out of the "bubble guys"...
Bluhme looked pretty solid.

Pawlowski, Marple, Ward, and Cianfrini all were less than standouts.

Bobby Phillips was quick to get in that fools face for taking a questionable shot at Curdy.

CHL refs are as bad as IHL refs.

I forgot how much I hated the instigator rule.

At lastly, I'm sorry in advance for those I offend... but Legault really has no business wearing gloves at this level of hockey. He's one dimensional. He's a fighter. He still skates like a dump truck, fouled up several passes tonight, and couldn't stay in the crease on a PP.. Legault is a great guy and a good fighter. If those are the expectations of him, so be it. But I wish people would quit trying to sell us on his upside as a regular shift player.

Refs are bad at all levels, get use to it.

Am I to understand that the CHL still has "No-Touch Icing"?!?!? How can you develop AHL/NHL players with that garbage?

According to the rule book it is no touch icing.

Just hope it isn't "No touch" hockey.

Fletcher has a set of wheels, I hope he makes it.

One difference between the IHL and the rest of hockeydom stood out tonight with the instigator and misconduct penalties. Having not seen the CHL before so I could be wrong but I'm thinking the need for "tough guys" is limited, possibly very limited.

Talked to Dennis a little bit tonight, I think he's suffering from blog withdrawal, he was was telling .44 Magnum stories......

Didn't know Legault previously, but certainly was not impressed with him in the exhibition game. Reminded me of a hugh egret stalking around looking for a minnow.

liked fletcher alot! skated hard and fast and caught up to plays with his speed and wasnt afraid to go to the net! pawlowski skated okay and looked for a couple of fights and no one would dance. the big guy was taken in that fight by a smaller guy plus he lined up a few hard hits but all he hit were the boards! goalers looked sharp and thomas looked a little more take charge. saw bert in the hall, must have been tough for him to watch....
