KOMETS ADD VETERAN WINGER RUDENKO

Fort Wayne, IN

Rudenko celebrates his 29th birthday today and hails from Novosibirsk, Russia. The veteran winger will be entering his 10th pro season this year and 4th in the UHL. Rudenko previously skated under the direction of Komet head coach Pat Bingham in 2000-01 with the UHL Eastern Conference Champion Asheville and advance to the 2001 UHL finals with a team second-best 8 assists and 13 points in 11 playoff games. Rudenko also skated in the UHL during the 2002-03 season registering a team fourth-best 34 goals and 65 points in 74 games with Adirondack. The Russian native skated juniors in the Ontario Hockey League from 1995-97. He made his rookie debut with Quad City in the UHL in 1997 and was voted to the 1997-98 UHL All-Rookie Team.

Last season Rudenko appeared in stints with Florida and Pensacola scoring 7 goals, 15 points and 67 penalty minutes in 37 ECHL games.

The Komets have also invited to camp goaltender Daniel Ljung. Ljung, 26 (la-JUNG), is a native of Sweden and played 4 seasons of collegiate hockey at Lawrence University (NCAAIII) in Wisconsin from 2002-2005. Ljung also was a member of the Capital District Selects of the Eastern Junior Hockey League during 1999-00.

IF YOU WANT TO SEE SOMETHING REALLY INTERESTING, LOOK AT HIS NUMBERS WHEN HE PLAYS FOR BINGHAM:

Asheville: Bogdan Rudenko................................  44   28   18   46  124

Adirondack: Bogdan Rudenko................................  74   34   31   65   99

Wheeling: Bogdan Rudenko................................  41   17   26   43   80

Now compare them to what they are every other year. His best years by far are with Bingham.

31.....Kevin St. Pierre's number and the number of times Greg Puhulski will say a single word during a Chicago Hounds game this season.

I heard they actually may just bring back last years team....all of them.... and try that whole thing over again. Coach Bingham may actually be able to get the most out of that group and win.

How many goals did Fletch score in the IHL?

Anybody know?

I can see it now...a line of Parsons, Roy, and Fletcher.....awesome. Who could get the puck up the ice in that group?

Andre Roy was amazing! That guy would just flat out kill people on the ice.

Who was the craziest one of all though? Andy Bezeau? That would be my vote. He would throw punches at anything in his way. I never can remember a guy like him that would line someone up and skate the whole darn rink to drill them into or through the boards. That was fun to watch.

I know some don't like him or that style...but you have to admit...when he was on the ice...you never quite knew what kind of mess things would end up in. Those were the days.

fletcher scored 27 ihl goals and had 37 in the ahl. roy. fletcher or parsons would tear this league up. one punch from fletcher and tedstone would hit the ice breaking the cement and causing a postponement of the game!

Yeah Bezeau was crazy! Anyone remember the game against the Detroit Vipers back in the "I" when they had a melee with all 10 guys on the ice. The Komets had Shawn Penn, Dion Darling, Sean Selmser, Andre Roy, Robin Bawa, and Lee Sorochan. The fight was when Bezeau played with the Vipers. Roy and their goalie, Geoff Sarjeant got into it. Pokey fought. It was crazy! Ahh, the good ole days!

Thanks Chuckitt...just was curious. People can say what they want about the old IHL...but you knew some things were certain in that league.....you don't touch, look-at, skate near, or breathe on the goalie without getting your arse handed to you. The skating in that league was like greased lightening too. I think the UHL could get to that point with the right amount of rivalries with a more centralized region of teams and the right amount of young players with guts and the will to impress the upper leagues. Or maybe I am dreaming some more.

The problem with Fletcher is that he can't skate anymore! I would take Parsons though.

This league does have great officiating and a wonderful person for a commissioner though. And that new slogan "Elite Professional Hockey"....why can't this league be the best?

Oh Dickie your so fine....Dickie Dickie you blow my mind....Hey Dickie!!!!!! Hey Dickie!!!!!

I told you it wasn't Jorde or Guinn...so how good could the announcement be?

You know.....Rob Guinn has forgotten more signings than any of us have ever signed our personal checks.....so don't question his toughness.....I think I just heard a whistle coming from the west....They might have said "Icing New Mexico." That just sounds funny.

I hope Ryan Jorde signs with Chief's girls. I would love to see him bring his massive fear back to the Coliseum for our new and improved team to pound. I can't wait for the first meeting against GQ Cardboard Cutout and the gang.

Did I see that he brought Blake Stewart into the Hounds camp? Something tells me that it will be a repeat from last year when he hypes him up and then cuts him off the roster on the last day of training camp.

dont kid yourself, fletcher could still outskate a lot of guys in this league, even at 44yrs of age! he was fast could check and of course fight. he changed games just by steppping on the ice. he had the hardest slapshot on the team and probably coulda scored more if he skated on a scoring line instead of a checking one. i guess you realize he was my favorite komet along side cal purinton and darcy keating! those three could all force an opponent to alter their game and they didnt even have to drop their gloves to do it!! now thats toughness....

Those guys were feared by all. Not some guy that builds himself up and uses an excuse that people are afraid to fight him..."so I don't need to." What a pansy...

That 98-99 team was my favorite Komet team post 92-93.

We had eight guys over 100 pim's plus 2/3 of the MIG line in Butsayev (123 pims also) and Bashkirov (1/2 the year). Plus Brad Purdie and future NHL'er Eric Bogunecki.

Fun team. Never could win consistenly though.

Skating like greased lightning in the I, huh? The first time I saw a game in the I was in Peoria, and one of my first remarks was "these guys look like they're skating in quick sand". Obviously you've never been to an NHL game then, I literally grew up with the St. Louis Blues.

I'm thinking if that was the season or the one before that. I was in Vegas watching the K's play (and getting their a---s handed to them). The coach decided, since the top line wasn't playing to good to put Darling, and another third liner on the ice wiht Butsayev. They scored a gola then the next line out was Derek Woods, the extra forward, then 4 defenseman. Funniest thing I ever saw.
