KOMETS ADD VETERAN WINGER RUDENKO

Fort Wayne, IN

Rudenko celebrates his 29th birthday today and hails from Novosibirsk, Russia. The veteran winger will be entering his 10th pro season this year and 4th in the UHL. Rudenko previously skated under the direction of Komet head coach Pat Bingham in 2000-01 with the UHL Eastern Conference Champion Asheville and advance to the 2001 UHL finals with a team second-best 8 assists and 13 points in 11 playoff games. Rudenko also skated in the UHL during the 2002-03 season registering a team fourth-best 34 goals and 65 points in 74 games with Adirondack. The Russian native skated juniors in the Ontario Hockey League from 1995-97. He made his rookie debut with Quad City in the UHL in 1997 and was voted to the 1997-98 UHL All-Rookie Team.

Last season Rudenko appeared in stints with Florida and Pensacola scoring 7 goals, 15 points and 67 penalty minutes in 37 ECHL games.

The Komets have also invited to camp goaltender Daniel Ljung. Ljung, 26 (la-JUNG), is a native of Sweden and played 4 seasons of collegiate hockey at Lawrence University (NCAAIII) in Wisconsin from 2002-2005. Ljung also was a member of the Capital District Selects of the Eastern Junior Hockey League during 1999-00.

IF YOU WANT TO SEE SOMETHING REALLY INTERESTING, LOOK AT HIS NUMBERS WHEN HE PLAYS FOR BINGHAM:

Asheville: Bogdan Rudenko................................  44   28   18   46  124

Adirondack: Bogdan Rudenko................................  74   34   31   65   99

Wheeling: Bogdan Rudenko................................  41   17   26   43   80

Now compare them to what they are every other year. His best years by far are with Bingham.

BTW-anybody see where Kevin Kaminski got a coaching gig with Youngstown of the CHL?

Interesting. Wouldn't that put the K's at 8 vets though?

ALso, didn't posters on this blog speculate to Ruid coming here when the Komets first announced that Bingham was hired.

JW-I could be wrong but you can have more than 7 vets on the team, you can only play 7 during games which means someone's riding the pine.

If JC Ruid is the "big" signing... count me as disappointed.

How can you not be excited if we signed JC Ruid?

Also just a scenario I'm throwing out there. What if the K's traded Miller to Flint for the rights to Grover?

jc ruid 32yrs old 6'4 215 sniper but not a lot of tough if its him then miller is probably the odd man out or he would have to beat out rudenko.

Ruid is a sissy. Plain and simple. Didn't like him before, doubt I will here. He whines and complains.

I will say it before and I will say it again. Miller is NOT a first or second line regular on a championship team unless the other 5 guys are above and beyond star players. Ruid would be an improvement over him 10 fold.
There is still the Duhart card to play. Will he retire? Will his rights be traded? Can he bring anything of value at this stage?

I'm not sure why Ruid played only 5 games in Austria last year. If it was because of a major injury then I would consider why we are singing him, if something else then I would take Ruid over Rudenko because in the years previous he seems to stay in the line up more.

Tony's got a point, we haven't heard much from Duhart and if Larocque brought his demands down, why couldn't Duhart?

Players all over are finding out that the number of jobs in hockey decreased.

Plus salary caps are now dictating what the going price is, those that wait are in for a rude awakening.

No one wants Duhart plain and simple. He could play for 300 a week and teams would pass on him. I dotn think Ruid will sign in Ft Wayne. He only played a handful of games due to a bad back.

That explains the lack of games played lst season with Ruid.

Well, I am pretty much happy.... Granted, some of this beef could be cut in camp; but I am not as worried as I was a couple weeks ago. Now I can sit back and wait for camp to start. Hopefully these guys can create a good chemistry and make things happen this coming year...

Hit, I've been called up again, gettin paid to post...lol

JR...let me know when there is an opening where you work....I am so there!!!!

I think the difference between this year and the last several is that this coach is looking for a style of play that calls for guys who aren't afraid to mix things up. This should be a team that will battle night in and night out. That is not what we saw last season. GQ kills the talent and can't motivate for crap. Maybe this coach can actually talk to his players, coach them, and act like he gives a crap one way or another. I like our chances so far this year. I see us in the top 2 or 3 as things stand right now. Looks like it is us and Muskegon on top of things. K-Zoo has lost way too much and they don't have anything between the pipes close to what they had last year. We should be in great shape.

I also like how Rockford and QC are putting thier teams together... The west could be a very competitive division this year and that can only mean that some rivalries will intensify... I havent looked forward to a hockey season like this in a LONG time... The Frankes and Bingham are backing up thier talk from the beginning of the off-season and that is nice for a change...

You got it Hit....of course you would have to want to work with a product that can blow everything up; but besides that its not too bad...lol
