The Fort Wayne Komets are negotiating to add Jon "Nasty" Mirasty to their lineup. Mirasty, 28, is 5-foot-10, 220 pounds of mean. The seven-year pro has annually averaged more than 300 penalty minutes, though he's scored only 11 goals. Mirasty is under contract to Syracuse of the American Hockey League, but has been playing with Elmira in the ECHL. In 24 games this season he has one goal and 119 penalty minutes.
``We are talking with Syracuse and there is a good chance that he could come to Fort Wayne,'' Komets general manager David Franke said. ``It's a possibility. We are talking to Syracuse and they want to find a place for him the rest of the year, and we're trying to get that done with them. Hopefully something will happen. There's nothing official right now. That could change.''
Mirasty has played most of the last four years with Syracuse in the AHL. Franke said there's a real good chance Mirasty could come to Fort Wayne, but the team has to make sure everything is finalized before making an announcement.
``I think it's an element we could use,'' Franke said. ``As a 10th forward for us, he's legitimately, big-time tough, and I think it will help our players. They'll have somebody that they know can protect them. That's this guy's job. He knows his job and does it well. Hopefully I can get it worked out that we can get this done, but nothing is official now."
In other roster news, Danko Mironovic, Neil Musselwhite, Leo Thomas and Brandon Warner all said they are ready to come off IR when needed.

Mirasty is the real deal and he will inject so much life into the team and the fans at the games. Teams are gonna think twice now running some of our better players. A top of the line tough guy will have an effect throughout the lineup...man I hope this happens!!!!

I wouldn't go as far as man crush hit, but I've up since like 430 am since the news came out that 'nasty' could be here. I am extremely stoked about it. I felt bad for him getting sent down to Elmira but hey if this is the result and I can watch him break faces right in front of me then, it's worth it. I've been a fan of his since he played with Danbury and he will not disappoint. He's not a goon fighter and can skate a regular shift as you've seen with his years of AHL experience. I,for one am in shock right now and won't believe it till he's in a Komet jersey on the ice but wow oh wow this could be awesome.
