Tailing the Komets

Komets lose 5-3

And frankly, they got what they deserved from that effort. It should have been 4- or 5-1 after the first period but Nick Boucher kept them in the game. Mario Larocque scored two goals in the final five minutes to give the Icemen the win.

``That team has beaten us all year, and they continue to beat us in this building,'' Komets coach Al Sims said. ``We can't seem to come up with a way to beat them. They played really well, They are a desperate team that played really well to come back from 3-2 with three or four minutes left in the game. It was a great effort by them.''

The bigger news for the Komets is that defenseman Frankie DeAngelis suffered a concussion and needed stitches late in the third period after an elbow by Evansville's Jeff Christian. DeAngel

Yup the got what they deserved tonight they were in cruise control all night. I have not seen PC play worst than he did tonight. The elbow that Frankie took was brutual wish somebody would have gone after Christian. Hope they send that one in for review that should be at least 5 games.

Komets lost this game in every way possible and it's solely on them.

Having said that, I very rarely complain about the officials. Those two linesmen were just horrible. The decision of the off linesmen to throw out our center (Chaulk) with 80 seconds to go on a 6 on 4 was just horrible. Those two guys held the puck all night long...waiting and waiting for who knows what.

It was funny to have the one clown call icing with under a minute to go when Evansville was on the PK.

I hope a tape of this game goes to whoever is reviewing the officials. Good officials aren't noticed. Those two 19 years olds inserted themselves into the game. Bad news all around.

Really makes me appreciate a Pete Ciegy type official, especially at this level.

Rant over.

Oh, and I simply can't believe how much people are willing to spend on jerseys. You could get game worn NHL jerseys for the prices tonight's Komets jerseys were being sold for. Amazing.

Think they will send in the tape of the elbow? It looked really bad, but Frankie was also coming over to take his head off. Bad break for Frankie!

The loss can not be blamed on anyone else besides the team, but that ref was horrible! How many time did he miss something right in front of him, only to turn around and call a phantom call. A push in the chest not means a trip? Harvey played the puck about a foot into the corner and both in the second and third the Icemen had six guys skating out on the ice with no delay of game call either time. What a joke!

I am tired of people complaining how generous our fans our. I couldn't tell you how many people walking out were complaining how much people pay for the jerseys. IT IS FOR CHARITY!!! That just goes to show how much fans are will to make cutbacks else where to be able to spend money on jerseys, helmets, or whatever else the Komets auction off. I wasn't lucky enough to get a jersey this year, but in the past we have. You make choices how to save money to be able to pay for them. I don't think anyone was spending food stamps on the jerseys!

When you don't score on a 5-on-3 or on a 5-minute power play, you deserve to lose.

You also have to give credit to Evansville's defense. How many times did Harvey give up fat, juicy rebounds right out in front? Their defense either kept us from getting good wood on it or ran us off the play. I counted at least 8 rebound chances.

Salvucci,

Just prior to the faceoff you are talking about (80 secs)... Christian went to the linesman during the timeout and whined for a good minute, then turned as he got set for the faceoff and nodded at the linesman that eventually tossed Chaulk. I'm not sure if there was technically a reason to throw Chaulk out, I didn't see one.. but that was a direct result of Christian's chat with the linesman. Then, Christian scores the empty netter. Puke. Though if Al would have taken care of Christian after he got out of the box for his ugly elbow, he wouldn't have been on the ice for any of that. Blake applauded the coaching for the win last night.. but this loss will get blamed on lousy lazy players. The game plan against Evansville is never successful.

Hope Frankie heals up.

Whats with O'Conner and Lovell? Those dudes were jawing all night long.

Of the 30 or so games I have been to in the last 2 years that was the most disappointed I have been in the Komets effort, which was none. Everyone was just going thru the motions. I hope they take a long look in the mirror and realize that type of effort won't get them far into the playoffs. It was a good game by Boucher even though he gave up 4 goals. In reality it should have been way worse.

Boucher let in 3 soft goals!!!all 3 goals would not have broke a pain of glass.

At the faceoff with 80 seconds left my biggest issue wasnt about Chaulk getting the boot but where our dman took the drop. Someone (most likely PC) should have been on the otherside of the blueline standing on the PHP logo incase EVille won the faceoff to take up some room and block the empty net, instead they take the faceoff like Bouch was in net. If the DMan was on the PHP logo, he would had quickly grabbed possesion of the puck...as the puck went directly over that logo. Had that happened, who knows what wouldve happened but I can tell you that HORRIBLE PC turnover that led to the empty net would not have happened. Terrible effort tonight and EVille deserved the win. It was also interesting to know that if you push a guy in the chest that that's tripping.

If Al does not let Mirasty do what he came here for Colorado is gonna kill us in our last two home games!!

B,
can anything be done about the scheduling/traffic/parking mess.
it is stupid to schedule things to start at the same time.
and then to not have donut-fueled directors around....

I can't really blame Randy Brown for this mess as much as I'd like to. I'm sure the WWE event was available only on this date and was set up well after the Komets schedule was put together. The WWE always draws well, especially since now they don't come thru here as often as they used to, and he would have to be stupid to say "No thanks, we have a hockey game that night"

The key of any business is to make money and that's exactly what the Coliseum did tonight. I doubt anyone will be boycotting the coliseum because the parking lot/traffic sucked. Posted By Game Misconduct (307 posts) at 12:19 am Sunday

really, GM.....Master Brown couldn't have picked a 7 or 8 pm start time for the Hicksville crowd....or ASKED the chl to slide back their little game by 30 min....and where was the fwpd/acpd tonight....OOOO, sorry, I forgot, they lost the gravy train contract.....

If the elbow was really bad on Frankie (obviously it was) then why didn't Christian get a game as well as the 5 min major? Chaulk got a game for a knee and a head shot is always worse and with leagues being careful with said headshots how didn't he get a game? Not that it would have changed anything just asking.

I agree Charlie, I think he should have got a game. I would suspect the K's will have it reviewed by the league.

Trying to understand the ref's decision on a 5 min penalty to Christian for the elbow to Frankie DeAngelis. Frankie needed stitches, blood had to be scraped off the ice, and he has a concussion.

I don't understand why everybody thinks Christian should have received game, when all he did was protect himself from someone trying to take his head off. I like Frankie alot be he was out of control at that point. Why do all of the fans want retribution for cheapshots, when last year when Shavrronov got pummeled at center ice and was on the 30 day ir no one did a thing. Typical soft Sims hockey.

Re: the parking mess.....if the coliseum would be smart enough to open an entrance further down on coliseum blvd closer to where the baseball stadium was most of that could have been avoided...we sat in a huge line waiting to turn left into there. Secondly......if season ticket holders had the option to buy a parking pass (because we all know they won't give one to us) they could have a pass only lane to speed things up.

Any thoughts?

On the parking mess, there is no reason for it to take 1 hour to get from the arbys on Coliseum to the Coliseum. That was awful. I missed the first 10 minutes of the game because of that.

The parking lot has been a disaster every since the tunnel was removed and the stop lights inserted . It sucks getting in and out. Why is there no traffic cops being used? Oh yeah..I forgot.. They are all being used to pull over SUSPECTED drunk drivers and writing bogus tickets to fill the cities coffers. No money to be made directing traffic

The Komets pay no rent, the WWE does, it's a no brainer.

We go through this probably at least once a year with one event or another, and will continue to. It's still easier then some major league and other event venues I've been too. I like it when they make money because as a property owner in this county I get to pay more taxes if they don't.

I like the parking pass idea but they wouldn't set that up for something that happens maybe once a season. Sell them at a discount to season ticket holders as a perk and it might go somewhere but I doubt it, what's the coliseum's motivation to make even less money on Komet games then they already do.

Shifting time unless by several hours probably wouldn't have made much difference but who knows? Maybe the WWE in the afternoon. Knowing it was going on and already sold out we got there a touch over an hour early. Getting into the coliseum was slightly longer then normal but getting into the building and upstairs was a different matter. The place was packed with WWE fans who obviously got there more then an hour ahead of time.

About the only thing that can be done is be aware of other events and plan accordingly.

And yes, the team blew this one.

I meant to add that traffic control instead of using the lights would have helped a lot also, not only for those going to the Coliseum but for those poor souls who were trying to get past it and got caught up in the jam.

I guess I'd rather have cops out getting people driving erratically, no matter why they're doing it. I also don't see how people can blame the cops because idiots need people to direct them as to how a parking lot works. When we left last night, we went out an exit with NO ONE directing traffic and somehow everyone made it out in an organized manner.

Are people really whining about not getting to the game on time? PLAN AHEAD! They've been advertising these events for weeks, plus the Coliseum has all the upcoming events on its website, and the huge sign in front of it. I love our "It's always someone else's fault" society.

Whose fault is it that it's going to rain this week, Greg Shoup's?

Havent the jerseys gone for more in the past? I was kind of thinking they seemed low this year. Also, what's the deal with complaining about how high they go? Are people with money not supposed to bid? Is it their faults they have good jobs?
