Komets re-sign Mironovic

The Komets announced Tuesday that Danko Mironovic has become the first player to re-sign for 2009-10. The second-year defenseman made his pro debut last season capturing the IHL Turner Cup championship with the Komets scoring two goals, 11 assists and 65 penalty minutes while appearing in 70 games.

Mironovic, 22, appeared in four seasons in the OPJHL before making his pro start last year with Fort Wayne. The Mississauga, Ontario native was voted the Komets' Most Improved Player for 2008-09 at the conclusion of the regular season. In the playoffs Mironovic skated all 11 Komet games scoring a goal and an assist for two points while collecting 16 penalty minutes.

"As we embark on the defense of the Huber Trophy and Turner Cup, defense is the best place to start building the 09-10 edition of the Fort Wayne Komets," said general manager David Franke. "Danko Mironovic fits our defensive scheme perfectly. He was a great surprise for us last season and we are looking for him to be one of our top defensemen this season."

Hey Blake any truth to the "new" rumor that has Robbie Laird trying to put together a group of investors to purchase the K's from the Frankes? I also read that George Drysdales was aslo involved?

One thing at a time. I bet Blake has enough on his plate tracking down the K-zoo thing. Give him anything else and his head will explode.

Yeah, I'm trying to squeeze more Komets in around my other duties. I don't have the option to focus on one thing -- or five.

Shoot. And here I was hoping for a nice pleasant story for once without all the behind the scenes intrigue. True or not, Laird should stick to scouting. Just my opinion, but isn't there such a thing as "not for sale" in this day and age?

In any case, the news about Danko is wonderful. If all works out, I look forward to seeing him again this fall.

Sure the Frankes don't "have to sell". There has been no official comment one way or another.

RUMORS -- RUMORS!! SLOW DOWN FOLKS. It is still only June 2nd. Why not let things seddle down a bit? I think we would all feel better. Glad to have Danko back. He is a great place to start.
