Korduner gets tryout -- The Komets also announced Wednesday that forward Fredric Korduner has been invited to the Komet camp. Korduner, 23, was a prospect at the Komets' tryout camp at the World Hockey Centre in Toronto this past summer attended by Komet head coach Al sims. The Taby, Sweden native led Gislaved of the Sweden Elite League, Division 1, last season with 27 assists and 36 points in 37 games.

Mangos retires -- The Komets learned Wednesday that defenseman Simon Mangos, originally signed for the upcoming 2011-12 season, has decided to retire from hockey due to personal reasons and will not be joining the Komets for the upcoming season.

Just got a lot easier for Warner to make the team.

Bennefield... not bad. Wrong side of 28 for me but I won't miss Cescon passing to the opposition when clearing the puck anymore.

Didn't see this coming when he and Colin Chaulk became facebook friends about a month ago.

Mangos retires? Gee, I called that weeks ago when Warner got the invite.

I'll miss Cescon and his hustle. Bennefield will always be a Hog to me. His antics are legendary...in his own mind. He's the only guy Super Mario Laracque ever beatup. turtle.

No you won't miss Cescon doing it, because Fort Wayne's favorite son will do it twice as much.

Bad news in Komet land...Cescon will be missed.

Am I still allowed to sing "I wish that Jesse wasn't such a girl"..."such a girl"... but now I can add "why did we trade for a crybaby like that?"

The Komets get even softer.

Big picture -- they have even less guys to step up.

I liked what Cescon did for the Komets...

Is this really going to turn into yet another Warner bashing thread?

Blake, please post a thread that says "The sun will come up tomorrow"....I want to see if Warner can get dragged into that one.

Wow! Just a few hours ago I posted that a positive update on Komet news would be nice. I asked for it and Blake provided. ( If I knew it was going to be that easy I would have asked before today! Just kidding.)

This is kind of an interesting turn around. Securing a scorer like Bennefield is very welcome news to me. He has been a consistent producer and just what the Komets need.

It is interesting that as Cescon is traded, Mangos also retires. The strength of this team was it's defensemen and now two are gone. That leaves eight on the roster as it stands today. The K's will keep seven and with DeAngelis and Milam, they will need stay at home defenders. I'm not sure that Warner fits that description, but his chances sure got better today. Hopefully one of the defensemen they keep will offer some protection and toughness just as Cescon did.

I will always look for more scoring, but it seems the training camp roster is complete. As camps break and cuts are made, I'm sure the Komets will be searching for more defensemen and, maybe, another goaltender.

Lots of forwards on the roster. A power forward is missing but could be one of the young guys.

All along I have asked for a couple of snipers to be added and, with Chaumont and Bennefield, my wish has been granted.

I will miss Cescon. He did everything the K's asked him to do and I wish him good luck in Wichita. In a trade you have to give quality in order to get quality.

Good day for the Komets and the front office.

I hope Joe keeps a large supply of towels at the bench for Jesse, she's going to need them to wipe her tears. I hope Bennefield is ready for hometown fans to call him out when he's diving and crying. It's good to get a 30 goal scorer but I can't stand his cry baby ways

The bad news takes are interesting...

Didn't you guys want offense?

What does Cescon do that several other guys brought to camp can't do?

I thought I was having a bad day now it SUCKS!! I can't believe that. If Warner makes it and Cescon is gone...I think I'll retire!

Whoa....wait a minute.

I too like Cescon. Average D-Man who plays physical, takes some bad penalties, but was our new Bertram. Not sure if that was good or bad LOL.

But we added a goal scorer that we needed that camps his arse in front of the net and will pound away goals into the net. You put him on the top line with Chaulk and Smith...or Chaulk and Apod and you have magic on the topline for a change and you also have a goto scorer on the PP.

Why all the whining guys.

You knew they had to make way for Warner. This is how they got it done.

8 Dmen left in camp, Big Al always keeps at least 7.

Milam, Frankie, Molle, Molle, Llewellyn, Starenky, Hotte, Warner.

Hotte is here because the Chief recommended him if I recall right. And Rizk (f) too, right?

My guess: Dmen:

Frankie, Molle
Milam, Molle
Warner, Llewellyn or Hotte
Starenky

Heck, maybe they keep all 8.

Forward lines: Gut Feeling

Chaulk, Bennefield, Smith
Leo, PC, APOD
Auger, Schrock, Chaumont
Thorne, JM Rizk

Nice team...Let's Roll!!! Drop the Puck.

David Franke on Bonneau: ``I haven't talked with him since early in the summer. I think we're fine where we're at (with toughness). There will be a lot of players come available at all positions, including some tough guys. If we think we need something we'll find it out there.

``You have to be able to play if you are going to be a tough guy. If Jimmy was available we'd jump on him in a heattbeat, but he's an AHL player. When that ends if he stll wants to play, he'll give me a call.''

Mark down the time and date....

I agree with Burpee60 on this one.

We gave an average D-Man for an above average Forward.

I would take a 35 goal scorer for Cescon anyday of the week. And I like Cescon...don't get me wrong.

Cescon = B. Molle or Starenky or Llewellyn. I have heard very good things about Llew!!! I here he is big and strong and can pound the other team.

Give it a chance.

Benne will be GOLD for us. As long as Larry plays Yakkity Sax when he scores his goals.
