I don't understand this move. I thought Boulay improved greatly as of late. He was my vote for Most Improved. I have to say I'm scratching my head over ths one. Sorry to see you go and Good Luck Brian!
Sorry, but I think this is getting ridiculous. These people have played for the Komets all season. Yes, I have not always enjoyed the fact that they were on our team, but they were still there. They were Komets. Gravelle, Holladay, Boulay, Legault.... it is terrible. There are other people that needed to go before any of those guys anyway. I hope they all find a club that will treat them with respect. Best of luck guys, and we will miss you in the playoffs! (PS You are all welcome back in many fans' minds, but we understand if you find somewhere that respects you!)
I too don't understand this move. Makes no sense. If Ryan Jorde is added to our roster....I will be ticked off. He is lazy and plays for Ryan Jorde only. How many times can we bring that guy in and let him go before we realize he is a cancer. He is not a team player, he is a waste of talent that does not hustle, and he stinks in my opinion.
Boulay, did nothing but improve all year. He and Vince Tarantino might be the 2nd and 3rd best D-Men we have had this season. There is one guy in particular on defense that is way over-rated and needs to go before Boulay, actually, make that 2. And they both played on this team last year and not named Guy. Sorry, that is my opinion.
This makes no sense.
I have no clue why. Did they need to make room for someone? Boulay would fight, take the body, and improved greatly....big surprise here.
The thing is, he was limping bigtime on Saturday night. Why wouldn't they protect him? Can they only protect 2 or 3.
Blake any insight into this situation?
Hit,
I agree with one of your defense choices, and personally, I love the other one just because of who he is. I think the Komets really needed to start to build a new team for the future, and all of those people they cut could have been cornerstones. Guy, PC, Colin, Shaf, and so forth have their days numbered. I will hate to see that day come, but I look for it after every year. The Komets really need to be looking for someone to be playing in the future instead of cutting everyone that plays so hard. If Jorde comes back, I just might lose myself.
I would be VERY surprised if the Komet claim Jorde...for one, he is a vet and we have 7 of those. Which vet would you sit...I wouldn't sit any of them for Jorde...
I would play my Grandma before I 'd play Jorde.
I've talked to a couple of people and they said Brian had some personal issues he had to take care of at home. The Komets are upset they had to let him go, but I guess this was a pressing issue.
Mac does have a broken hand but said he's going to try to play through it. More later.
Komets do not have interest in Ryan Jorde.
I saw on the IHL website that Jorde cleared waivors today...which I think means no one claimed him. That is a relief.
The only reason I can see behind Boulay being waived is due to the IR thing, he might be hurt, and MacMillan might have an injury that the Komets might be inclined to put Mac on IR to protect him for next season, because if you waive Legault or MacMillan, both would be picked up in a heart-beat and haunt us next year. But with that logic, niether will play in the playoffs most likely, and Boulay is a promising young defensemen who will be claimed by someone. He is a tough as nails kid that has improved all year long. I still don't understand why you would let this kid slip away.
We need some explaination please.
Thanks Blake. I was typing while you were....
This is a shame. If he is picked up by another team....this stinks bad.
Will they pick-up anyone else at this point? Is there anyone out there? Can Vince play?
It will not be Jorde since we are at our Vet limit I think. IMO Boulay is a better defensive player than Mironovic(S) and also Pence. He has scored, played the body, and fought when needed. My guess is they are hoping nobody claims him and can resign him at a cheaper salary. This has to do with Cap more than anything else. I can't believe we will go into the play-off's with only 6 d-men with out a secruity blanket. Franke did make a comment a week ago that he felt it would be really hard to maintain a 21 man roster in the play-off's because cap issues.
I give Mac credit trying to play through a broken hand and I am sure he is Tough S.O.B., but his game is with his hands and if one of them is broken he is basically a non-factor. With the Boulay situation hopefully everything works out for him and this issue, but the guy I feel for is Legualt. Here he is put on IR, can't come off, and Boulay says he has to go that really bites for Legualt.
So now we are in a pickle. Mac has a broken hand. Legault is on the 30 day retro to 3/29. Boulay needs to go home. Vince is on the 45 day IR 3/06. Holladay waived to Flint. Gravelle waived to Flint. Is Varone hurt or not?
Right now we have no room for error. We can't lose anyone at this point or we are short a man. We have 6 D-Men. 10 healthy forwards, and Mac with a broken hand.
Anyone worried?
How does this effect the rookie status? By rule you have to play 4 a game correct? We have Varone, O'Conner, Mironovic, and Legualt...Rodgers and Hodgman how are they classified? Is Sebass considered a Rookie?
Hit Vince is done for the year so he is not an option..
rookies are Varone, O'Connor, Danko, Rodgers, Hodgeman
Legault is, but is on IR.
We should be ok there. The roster being that thin is a big worry to me. I think we will be fine. But the insurance of an extra D-Man and a tough-guy in Legault or Mac would have been very helpful....now...we don't have that. How can Mac play with a broken hand?
Rodgers and Hodgman are both rookies. Boulay getting cut suck big time. I would like to hear the whole story before I say anymore. I hope Mac's hand is okay, but like other said, he makes a living with his hands, if one is broken than he is done for the year.
I am not sure they are classified as rookies but amateurs that is what I want to find out.
What was the name of the kid that came in around Thanksgiving for us that was a forward...Mike Field, could he be coming back? What about Ryan Potts. I think we could get them both elgible if they aren't all ready by playing the final 3 games. They are forwards....but in a pinch, you could move Hukalo, O'Connor, or PC to defense if need-be. I would be investigating those options, as I am sure the Frankes and Big Al are.
They are considered rookies..and both will be rookies next season where ever they play...
Rookie status is any player under 60 games.
Yes!!!!! I am a rookie....whoopee.
Is Mironovic paying the Frankes under the table? He is nowhere near Boulay, or even Gravelle IMO. All season when we were going through the tough times I heard nothing but confidence from the Frankes in how good these guys all were and how they had the talent to bring us another championship in the playoffs, now we're dumping them all. I love flip-flops as much as the next fan, but this is about too much. As I've seen other, more experienced bloggers write, They've steered us straight in the pass, and I will trust their judgement on these moves too. I just hope I don't have to eat my words in the playoffs or next season...
In my opinion, Mironovic is one of the better defense players we have. He is probably right behind guy and aldoff (what a good pick up!). A player from last year needs to go first. Mironovic has improved tremendously, and I can't say the same for everyone else!
Me, too, RIP.
I mostly agree with Rip. I still see 2 d-men worse than Boulay, Vince, and Mironovic....not named Guy. Rodgers has been ok, he plays good D. One guy pinches too much and thinks he is a Forward, the other one....well he is not physical enough, only at times, which is frustrating. And I too like him.
