Komets waive Gravelle

The Komets have placed Maxime Gravelle on waivers to activate Colin Chaulk for Wednesday's game. Gravelle had four goals and 14 points in 59 games and was minus-3 with 60 penalty minutes.

"It's the worst day of the year for me," Komets coach Al Sims said. "You have a guy who is committed here for 60 games, and was a big part of our team for most of it, especially for energy-wise and things like that, but we had to make a decision. Obviously, it was going to be hard no matter who it was. Hopefully Max gets picked up by somebody, and if not hopefully I can get him to another team in another league. He definitely can play and showed he can play at this level."

I told him as far as next year goes, don't count us out. I know this is tough on you, but I thought  you played really well, and there's a lot of upside potential in your game. Maybe you can come back here next year.

It's just how good you are going lately. We feel that we've got the best 21 guys now that we can have. That's all I can say I guess.

With Chaulk coming back I knew someone was going to have to go. I was wondering who it would be.

How is it a terrible move? Are you trying to say that Gravelle is better than Chaulk? He is good, he brings energy to the team, but he does not put the puck in the back of the net. Someone had to go, and he was the short stick. He is a good player and I wish him the best, unless he lands with Muskegon, Kalamazoo, or Port Huron that is :)

It's always easy to say it's a horrible move, but someone had to go, and then you have to decide who else was supposed to go instead. That only gives you a little taste of a decision a coach has to make.

No, this has nothing to do with Chaulk, Shawn...it has everything to do with a guy who busted his tail all season against a few guys who give 50% efforts most nights and basically get a free pass...

Halladay, Mironovic and Rodger (seriously? Two games and he's already bumped our hardest working player off the team???) are all three I'd have gotten rid of in front of Gravelle. We have nine D-men... what gives???

Kalamazoo could use a guy like him and I hope he ends up there...

They are going to have to make another move after Wednesday's game, probably on the defense.

I'm sorry to see Maks go. He worked his butt off most nights and played a very physical game. I think I have to agree with FWKRJT on this one. I could have thought of a couple others who I would have waived before Maks. I wish Maksim well, wherever he ends up.

We wont move many defensemen. We struggled with that all year. Tarantino is out for the season, Pence is playing winger. Our defensive set up is nice right now a rookie and a vet together. I think we are fine right where we are.

This move would have happen months ago if everyone was healthy and on defense Vince will be the odd man out once that decision is made. Will I am not a big fan of Pence his value is he can play up or back and will be in the playoff's. Once O'Conner makes it back Leg's and Mac may have a hard time finding the ice which will also stink but that is how it goes this time of year.

WoW i called this at Sundays game.....Told you Hoss!

Sucks to see him go but it's a numbers game at this point in the season. Also on that not i'm glad to have Chaulker back in the lineup tomorrow.

Toeblake...

Vince is done for the season. so he won't be the odd man out since he won't count against roster.

Rodger didn't bump our hardest working player off the team, a guy named Colin Chaulk did

Other than Mironovich's cool slide on his stomach move he resorts to EVERY time he is beaten, he doesn't seem to offer much other than a lost look each time up the ice. He is the WORST skater on the team and never puts a hit on anyone. Gravelle always works his rear off and lets the other team know that it's still the jungle, even if the vast majority of the rest of the team is afraid of putting a body on anyone. How many times has the Coliseum been dead silent for minutes at a time, then Gravelle comes in and blasts someone to wake everyone up.
Thanks for the effort, Max. Hope to see you in orange and black next season.

Call me a homer, but I am a david franke and al sims fan, david has built and rebuilt winning combinations for years, while I hate too see anyone leave, I'll err on the side that they know what they are doing.
