Ready for a book?

The disease that has plagued the Fort Wayne Komets all season has reappeared. The disease is called "lack of discipline." Its symptoms include stupid penalties, trying to make the perfect pass, hesitancy to crash the net, and no one willing to pay the price in front of the opposing goaltender. We have seen at times, during the season, where we might have thought a cure had been found. Unfortunately each time the cure was only temporary. The only medicine that will cure this disease is called "motivation."

"Motivation" to not let Drulia's game plan ( bumping, mugging, and hitting Chewarduk and Chaulk each time they touch the puck until they lose their cool and retaliate) result in Komet penalties. C,mon guys. You know what they are doing. As hard as it is you just have to take it.

"Motivation" to place someone ( anyone, please) in front of Sterling on the powerplay.

"Motivation" to shoot the puck more often and crash the net HARD. Anyone listening? Pay the price.

"Motivation" to never be satisfied. You got two goals, then get three. You got three? Then get four. You get the idea.

"Motivation" to lay the body on the opponent. It may not show big results in the first period, but by the third period you will definitely slow them up.

"Motivation" to skate hard each and every shift. This is your biggest ally as you are so much faster than the Icehawks.

Look, here is the deal. The Fort Wayne Komets are a better team than the Port Huron Icehawks. You have SO much more team speed, better forwards, a better defense and more talented goaltending. You know what they've got? A gameplan. Hit, slow the K's up, get the K's frustrated and in the penalty box because Port Huron has a much, much better powerplay.

No use saving anything for later, guys. The season is evaporating but it is not too late. It's time to get serious or it's time to go home.

Motivation is the "pill" to cure these ills. Are you willing to take it. It can be a bitter "pill" to swallow sometimes because you must keep your emotions in check. ( I guess that is another way of describing "discipline" isn't it). Funny how this has come around full circle.

Well, guys. It's up to you. As professional as I think you are, I would think you can't wait to get back on the ice with them. This time , though, stay on the ice and not the penalty box.

As of today, we have six forwards who have not scored a goal in three games. Buzz the net guys. Shoot, get the rebounds. Grind in the corners and bury your chances, because the chances will come.

One more thing. Personally, I sure wish that Colin Chaulk would start shooting more. Toward the end of the season he was looking toward the net and the teams play increased. Lately he has started looking for the "pass" again and our offense has started to sputter. C'mon Colin. You have a great shot. Use it.

Playing five on five the K's are a far superior team. Let's keep our five on the ice and someone please pass the "pills" out now.

Alan: Between what you wrote on this thread and Andrea's post on the other thread, I think you've both got the issues summed up. It just seems so obvious from the stands to watch what PH is doing on the powerplay that is working. They have one, and sometimes two, player(s) in front of the net. Our powerplay involves one guy skating behind the net, four on the corners in front of the net, and no one in close. Other teams probably cannot wait for us to go on the powerplay because they know they just have to stand there and watch the Komets play around the world for 2 minutes. It's like a rest for the opponents. Maybe it's a lot easier to see from the stands than the bench?

As I said the Andrea's post and now to Alans...Nicely said...Maybe we need to go into the locker room right before the game and get them pumped up....!

In the dentist chair, I'll ask for some happy pills. You wouldn't believe the motivation it takes to get me to the dentist and he's my neighbor, I even like the guy but I need that happy pill to get motivated to get there! Maybe I can sneak a hit of gas.

JR, you certainly have a right to express your opinion.

" I wish all you armchair, stand sitting, know-it-all, hockey mastermind coaches would just shut your darn traps for a lil while...... GEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!"

Then I decided to review the thread, "From the Series Preview:" (It isn't hard to find, just a couple of threads back.)

I was real interested in posts #1, #5, and #22 out of the 29 contributions.

Isn't that you commenting on some "suggestions"?

Kind of ironic for you to blast others with all of these "labels" when you did exactly the same thing.

(By the way, I agree with most of your thoughts there!)

P.S. Burgee- I hear you already have enough gas.

I guess you've forgotten just two short years ago when the K's were down 3 games to 1 and won the championship? Relax, they will get it done.

As I said in the thread before, it is now time for the Komets to go out there and prove that they are the better team. Prove that they want and are willing to do what it takes to win. I don't want to see any more videos about a 3-peat, or any of that...go out there, play your game, and get the job done.

I agree with Alan, motivation is key. It comes in different forms. The Komets need to get the grit and tenacity back in their game.

Okay the one person I will put the blame on here is Randy Brown. I see those heads turning. Yep, good ol' Randy because once again the MC screws it's best clients so it can have a concert for one night which blows out one side of the scoreboard. Unlike Musky which has a two game lead we are down 2 to 1 and I think it has a lot to do with scheduling. Just think about it. We could have had two games here and one in PH. Instead you have three games in four days with 600 miles in playoffs. No other league would make it's players do that. But the mighty MC would because we can't hold a date for our biggest client. BS I say and poop on Randy.

LGKomets - I appreciate and do remember them winning the championship 2 years ago being down in the series 3 games to 1, but the key part of that is simply this: 2 years ago. This is today. This is now. As I said earlier, you can't just say, 'well we've been here before, we will be ok'. You simply can't. Why? Because each year is different. Different players, different teams, and possibly different outcomes.

Just because they won 2 years ago, or last year, or sometime, somewhere they were down in a series, does not mean that the same outcome will occur today. If it does mean this then Port Huron is wasting their time. Great, they won 2 years ago. Great, they won last season, but this season is up in the air. A person and a team can never rest on accomplishments from the past. It is all about the here and now.

Alan, take a breath brother...you completely missed the joke on that one... LOL! Bad day?

Those are all the great remarks that I could remember from those who like to respond to those of us who give our opinions on how things are going for the K's...

Sorry JR. I completely missed it. In fact one other poster called me and mentioned that your comments may have been made tongue in cheek. My fault completely and I apologize to you. I was wrong.

JungleMonkey, I still have my sense of humor. What I may be losing is my patience. Wednesday will be the key.

Alan what a great posting sir!! You said some of the same things Randy and I were talking about off the air before the game. Then after the game also. Remember Blake saying after game one that no way the Hawks win this series UNLESS the Komets help them. Well we are helping them! Lets quit doing that! Reading your post Alan brought Knute Rockne to my mind I swear to God!! Good stuff.
