We're running a feature asking readers to vote on whether certain famous people would look better with or without a beard. (Go here to vote if you're snowed in and really, really bored today.) I'm glad to see beards are enough in favor now that we can even have this conversation. In the 30 years or so I've been hiding my chin, beards have been cool and they've been passe and they've been retro and everything else. My beard and I just keep on keeping on, oblivious even to the pros and cons of having facial hair in the office. (I AM glad to hear that "growing a beard is a personal decision" and that employers who are thinking about getting crazy about clean-shaven faces should "determine if such policies are essential, especially in today's economy where talent is scarce." That's right, boss, keep The Beard happy, and this place will keep running smoothly.)

Oh, I almost forgot why I did this post in the first place. Guess whose beard they cut and pasted to make all those celebrities so much better looking. That's right.

I wondered why they used a Photoshopped picture of Conan? He grew a beard during the writers' strike, and kept it for several shows. I assume someone could have found a picture of him bearded.
His beard was red, of course, and didn't much resemble the whiskers they borrowed from you.
Quiz: Who was the last major party nominee for president with facial hair? Answer: Dewey. He had a mustache, and he lost. We seem to prefer our presidents clean-shaven.

Ok . . . we see the bearded Leo. Where is the clean-shaven Leo? Tomorrow will be soon enough to show us that pic.

I think I remember what that was like - don't think we want to see that, ...
