You mean you can't wait until after Christmas? That's just crazy talk!

Crazy concept, huh GM? I thought those games were just charity to pay the Ks players until they felt like trying.

Several of us were talking about this in November when it could've/should've been turned around and were lambasted for "calling out players" and were told to relax because it was "still early".

Here's the thing, it's over with, donebar, and can't be changed. If the lesson gets learned, then it was worth it, just like anything else in life. It's not the mistake that was made, but the changes you make when learning from them. I guess we'll see if the mistake was worth it when next season rolls around.

Us Rush fans would love to see another Rush vs Ft Wayne series next year.

Look who is out from under their rock...how was your time in Fort Wayne?

We had a great time. Saw some excellent hockey, met a lot of very nice people and we are looking forward to coming back next year to at least see 1 game.

Rat was hilarious on 92.3 today. Apparently he and Reiter have a bet going on jersey sales. I'd love to see Rat back next year but probably shouldn't hold my breath.

Frodawg, did you attend the opening game in Fort Wayne? There was a very nice couple from Rapid City that sat next to me at the first game. They were then driving to Dayton the next day to see RC play the Gems.

We did attend both games in Ft Wayne and I want to say boy what a barn to play hockey in. The fans were great, the hockey was excellent, and the air was electric. This was the 1st games we've seen outside the old CHL teams and Wow what great hockey. We will be back to Ft Wayne again and all of you are always welcome to visit us at the Rushmore Civic Center anytime

Frodawg how long and how far is the drive to RC? I would love to make a road trip up there to see hockey and also see Mt. Rushmore. I guess it takes about 17 hours by bus. I am guessing 12-13 hours. Anyway I am happy you got to see the 2 games in FW. They were close to the best electric crowds we've had all year. I wish it could have been a 7 game series instead of 5.

The Komets need to look at some players from CHL teams that are folding.

On that comes to mind and had been rumored as telling Michael Franke that he'd like to play in Fort Wayne someday is Todd Robinson.

29 goals, 70 assists for 99 points in 62 games. Also was a +20.

A team that needs goal scorers shouldn't pass up an opportunity because he played many years for a rival.

Don't let Krom or anyone else get a hold of him until you've explored this. He would bring fans, interest, and much needed offense to this team.

Well...as someone said I guess I will beat my drum and duck the rocks I am sure are going to get thrown at me....

When you have a bunch of vets who have "been there and done that" 1, 2,3 and even 4 times in the same town then the sense of urgency and desire to play hard almost every game (we all know they don't all play every game at 100%) is not as evident as it would be with a refreshed roster.

I bet if sweeping changes are made you won't see the same lackluster start.

If the Frankes are listening....and I know they are.

I would support them in buying a Dormant or Folding ECHL Franchise this off-season so we can re-kindle some good rivalries and smarter travel in between midwest teams.

Come on Frankes.....You Can Do It!!!

Give us teams play against like K-Zoo, Toledo, Cincy, Chicago, Wheeling, and then twist Evansvilles arm to jump over, and even Flint Huron deal, not sure about Dayton, but also Bloomington, and Quad City.

That would be at least 10 teams in a geographical footprint that makes so much more sense than traveling to Texas, South Dakota, Arizona, Colorado, Wichita, Mars, Saturn, Venus, and Pluto.

Let's Go Komets!!!

Go to the ECHL!!!!

This is from a very good Source:

"Look for an announcement of the Victoria franchise being sold fairly soon to a CHL team. Also, do not be suprised if other ECHL franchises are sold to CHL owners, those that are dormant or expansion."

Bring back Craig Cescon, plesant suprise, provided physical presence & could clear the net, also did alot of our fighting with the CHL heavyweights (Witchita) before Mirasty got here.

The Victoria ECHL franchise will be owned by the Colorado Eagles, almost forcing a move by the CHL...

Losing all the Texas teams and Colorado... FW becomes the cornerstone.

E to the C to the H to the L.....

He could play in the ECHL.

Wonder if Muskegon would at some point make a jump to the ECHL.....

It was rumored that they were thinking about going to the ECHL the same year K-Zoo jumped.

This whole thing ought to get pretty interesting real soon.

Will the announcements happen before the
CHL Playoffs are finished in August, or will CHL teams just make their announcements they are jumping off the sinking ship sooner???

I don't really see the Komets jumping to the ECHL before their two-year agreement is up, but I could be wrong. If they do, aren't we just as bad as the K-Wings everyone bashed when they jumped to the ECHL from the IHL?

As everyone has said, this will be an interesting summer and maybe more turbulent than the Komets season was.

It's about a 17 to 18 hour trip but well worth it if you can see great hockey like we did. Sounds like there's some rumblings of switching leagues in the near future. I guess I can see your points as the travel is absolutely brutal in the CHL. One thing for sure is that we would miss the games between the Rush and Ft Wayne.

RunningKomet

With that difference, flying would probably be pretty close to the same cost as driving with gas over $4 per gallon.

Hit, JR1, or anyone else. What other rumors are you hearing out there? I won't criticize you if they don't pan out. After all, I'm the one requesting the info knowing that nothing may be set in stone. Just thinking it would be fun to try to figure things out.

Let's say Colorado does purchase the ECHL Victoria franchise, are you saying that they would move Victoria into the CHL?

Maybe that would cut down on some travel for Colorado and Rapid City, but it would add to everyone else. The main thing I have against this league and have criticized it before, is the way this league is just spread out over everywhere.

I haven't made up my mind completely but I know I hate all the travel and playing in a different time zone. All the radio broadcasts start around 9pm and the newspaper never has the results the next morning. I think Fort Wayne and Dayton ( maybe Mississippi) are in the same time zone.

I would love for the Komets to play Kalamazoo, Toledo, Cincinnati, and maybe Dayton plus an old IHL franchise or two in the same the league.

My problem is that my competitve nature wants the Komets to beat these CHL teams and not look like they are running away.

I still think the CHL and ECHL should join together. Create 2 divisions. East and West and set it up like baseball where one division plays only in their own division, without interleague play. Then come playoff time the divisions would play only in the championship round. Why have 2 AA hockey leagues? There is only 1 AAA league. And I also want Cescon back. He was the most consistant D-man the K's had and brought toughness that was lacking most of the year.

I too would be very surprised to see us jump to the ECHL next season. Evansville? They probably missed that boat already, remember there was competition between the ECHL, CHL, and a lessor league, all with different owners for the new arena. If Evansville tried to move over for the first season in the new building I could see a major legal battle ensuing.

Muskegon? They couldn't afford the IHL2, the expenses in the ECHL are greater.

It will be interesting to see what happens this off season, what changes come about and who's left standing. As breslyn has said, the gossip and rumors have already started, and the nice thing about rumors is if you put out enough of them then one or two are bound to happen and someone can say, "I told you so."

I can live with either league but as a fan probably have a slight leaning towards the ECHL for the closeness of teams and the potential for rivalries. It would be nice to see us, Dayton, E-ville, and a couple of the old Michigan teams all in it too but I doubt that will happen in the next few years unless minor league hockey gets its collective heads together and forms three or four leagues or one super league with hard boundaries between geographical areas. That would be a sight to behold.
