Tuesday at 7 p.m. Komets Public Address Announcer Larry Schmitt will answer questions about the upcoming season as far as musical selections. He said he has approximately 40 new songs to play this season.
Please, let's not make the first 50 questions about the Hey, Hey song. We already know the answer to that one so why waste the time and typing.
``We're going to have something new and very cool,'' Larry said. ``It won't be Ole, Ole, either. That's all I can say right now. You'll find out opening night.''
Or maybe Tuesday if we bribe him enough.

Knowing Larry as a true professional and a life long fan of the Komets; I'm sure that the new song selections will enhance the experience of attending a game at the MC. While I DO NOT know what any of those selections are....I'm willing to see (and hear!) what happens....so please, give Larry his props. As someone who has done a few PA gigs, it's harder than one realizes.
Will you play the you suck song?
Yeah, we want the You Suck song back! Only 47 more allowed... lol.
hey lary play "lets go komets" all game long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hey larry play "lets go komets" all game long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anything but CottenEye Joe........
The "you suck" song after a goal is almost 17 years old, maybe it is time to give it a rest and get something new (not `ole either)!
Blake, what was the attendance at Wednesday's preseaon game?
About 1,500. Typical for a mid-week exhibition game. Tonight maybe 2,000.
Blake just out of question do the Komets (and other teams in the league) count attendance by who enters the building or by tickets sold?
Tickets sold.
That said, in exhibition games they don't put out an attendance, that was just my estimination.
Gee, Out of 1500, I wonder how many walk ups they had since the season ticket sholders get presesaon games with their packages? Probably not very many, especially having to pay full price!
Pat, what do they ever draw for an exhibition game? I'm sure the coliseum said, Oh, it's an exhibition game, we'll cut you a break. So did the hotels hosting the players. And I'm sure the restaurants feeding them, too. Not to mention the travel for bringing in 30 players, or the 30 sets of equipment. I'm sure the team doctor is donating his time, too. I know I've offered to get paid at a cut rate by the paper.
It's never going to change no matter how much griping there is. IT'S A BUSINESS. You chose not to participate as is your right.
Komets VP Scott Sproat said the problem is that Ticketmaster can not change the system to include the cost of the season-ticket holders tickets and the general tickets. The focus is on the season ticket holders. Why should people who aren't season-ticket holders get a deal if the season-ticket holders can not?
I know we shouldn't ask about Rock n Roll pt. 2, but I want someone to say if it is the chant of "You Suck" or if it is artist's "personal life" that you can't play it? I know the NFL has banned the song but Denver fans wanted it so bad the wrote the commish and asked to bring it back. They said they couldn't use the real song, but a cover song is OK. Would that be a way we could use it or is it just the word "SUCKS" that makes the song bad?
Sorry, but I had to ask after they talked about it on ESPNradio.
i realizt they maybe cant sell exibition tickets at a discount, but at least they could have had the machines out so our attendance would count towards our orange collar card, and since they charged full price you think they print enugh damn lineup cards so we who got to the game a half hour before game time could at least get one so we would know who the players were! pretty cheap and a real slap in the face to us season ticket holders.
I agree the lineup sheets (or lack there of) were ridiculous!
Why can K-Zoo sell pre-season tix on Ticketmaster for $5 but we can't? Isn't that what Sproat said, it's because of Ticketmaster won't change the price?
Thats what he said, it doesn't make it true...lol.
It's because the season tickets are all the same price, exhibition and regular season. It's all the same ticket, and Ticketmaster can't distinguish a difference if you have different prices for exhibition and regular season. And you aren't going to have discount tickets for walk-up if you can't give it to season ticket holders.
Scott is about as straight up a guy as you are going to find. I would believe what he says.
I wasn't even going to dignify that accusation with a comment. Scott's reputation speaks for itself.
Back on topic....there was a tune played sometime before the 3rd period (I thin k during an intermission) that had some kind of jungle theme (bongo drums) with a nice up tempo beat. Hard to explain but I found myself tapping my feet to it. What was that?
Yeah, I heard it also....sounded cool, but it made me think more of a Hawaiian beach party....but I did like it.
Scoops,
The song is called "Played-A-Live (The Bongo Song)" by Safri Duo. I've played it a few times over the past few years. Just reminds me of a jungle. I'll have more things to talk about on Tuesday. Hope everyone comes to the party with some good ideas and if your song choices are good enough, I'll give them a spin.
People need to let go of the "You Suck" song! As I noticed at the pre-season game, some in the Jerrdog section were trying to chant it over the other music. Must made them feel good about themselves. Get over it!
Who care what they play as long as it is a good time.
Melissa, you might want to think about how you think it doesn't matter what music they play as long as people have a good time, but then you don't want others to use the "chant" and need to "Get over it!" It's OK for you to have a good time, but other can only have a good time if it's YOUR idea of a good time.
Do you yell "He shoots, He scores" or were you a little disapointed that the "goal bell" didn't ring after each score? Those are all things that people have done for years and want to still do them. One person's idea of fun is anothers idea of annoying!!!
I just like to yell "Way to go Guinn" everytime the other team scores. I don't see this habit being an easy one to change either...even though he doesn't play here any more.
