Tailing the Komets

A little bit of good news

Eddie Campbell will be in Fort Wayne this afternoon to play in Tuesday's game. Hopefully that starts your Monday off a little better than expected.

I'm also wondering if the league will review Andrew Luciuk's actions against Rockford goaltender Michel Robinson. A Rockford player dumped Luciuk near the blue line with no call, ticking off Luciuk who got up and charged the net. He slashed Robinson who fell over in the ensuing scrum. I wouldn't be shocked if there was some further penalty.

I will believe this one when I see it with my own two eyes. This has been reported before and then something happens. If he is here Tuesday Great if not no big deal.

Will Campbell stop Watson from skating around with his jersey off celebrating the defeat of the most intimidating force in the UHL? I will bring the steps over so nobody gets hurt jumping off the Jorde bandwagon! Wasn't Jorde hyped as the guy that would strike fear in the opponents from running our "star" players in the playoffs? Well, you can forget about that. To go on beating a dead horse, I have to ask: What has Jorde done so far in this series that make him a better asset than Danny Stewart?

The third line is terrible.

This isn't the same Rockford team as last year.

Okay, we get Campbell, but what kind of shape is his head in. How hurt is he and will he still be focused on his wife back in Conn.?

People who get into fights will lose some at some point during their careers. To say he got his arse handed to him is fine. So what. It happens. Even Danny Stewart, god forbid for saying that, has lost a fight.

Some of YOU people are the ones who were branding Jorde as the heavyweight champion of the UHL, along with a few comments from Blake and Justin that were along that same path. Jorde has handed out his share of beat downs this season so give it a rest. And I find it funny you guys bitch about him not standing up for people all season and when he does, and gets beat, its laughable. Make alot of sense. Never pleased unless its in the Komets favor.

Getting Eddie into the lineup is definately a plus. I wouldn't worry about his mind, but more his body at this point.

BUT, the way this season has gone this will be offset by Lucuik being out....

I guess the next question would be how did the Frankes talk him into coming?

I know fighters are going to loose fights and I am not off the Jorde "Bandwagon" I was one of the few that said good for him for fighting Watson. At least Jorde fought him and did not stand around. There will be another day and who knows maybe he will hand Watson his A.. next time...Worlton got TKO by Fels early this season and in the rematch Worlton redeemed himself

Right now the Komets are losing the only fight that counts.....

I don't know that I would say Jorde got his tail handed to him. He might have come up a little on the short end, but when he went down at the end of the fight, it was not because of a punch. He fell and got back up punching. I take that back, he bounced back up punching. Watson landed some good shots, but so did Jorde. Anyone who knows much about fighting knows that going to the ice first doesn't alway mean the fight is lost.

I think Jorde takes a lot of heat on this board by several people who have not likely been in a fight for years, if ever. Jorde lays people out on the boards and plays tough D most of the time. This time the guy takes a few more punches than he dishes out, and people call him a bum. I don't get it.

Everyone wants Jorde to "get him back," and if he doesn't in the next two games. If he doesn't do it, the backlash will be significant. But the people who want to see that should ask themselves one question: Is it more important for Jorde to gain fan favor by kicking Watson's tail, or is it more important for the K's to play smart hockey, avoid the penalty box and get back into this series with a couple of wins?

Just my $0.02

Chad I believe you are right on the ball. The best way for Jorde to get even is to send the guy to the golf course for the season next week. If the reverse happens, all anybody is going to remember is a first round exit.

Greg
Mon, 04/24/2006 - 7:32am

I agree with Chad also.
And add need to play better 5 on 5 hockey.

And still nobody is intimidated and our players will still get ran.

And no, I haven't been in a fight in years. Is there alot of fistfights at the newspaper office in the photo department that I am missing?

Tony is right on the ball, the only scorecard/fightcard that matters is us being down 2-0.

Greg, how about he's meeting with Coach right now? Yeah, I'm famous for making stuff up.

The deal is, his situation changed when his wife came home from the hospital and she's recovering well. That's all it is. In fact, if the Komets win this round, she's coming here.

As for sleep, what's that? Please describe.

Blake
Mon, 04/24/2006 - 10:52am

Another thing, Milam will be in the lineup on Tuesday.

Greg
Mon, 04/24/2006 - 10:54am

I never said you made stuff up just that in your sleep deprived state you may have misunderstood the conversation.
I'm glad Campbell's wife is doing better. Hopefully so is he. The K's will need him to be focused in the game.

Anyone want to bet how long it will take for a Rockfrod player to run St. Pierre?

Greg
Mon, 04/24/2006 - 11:03am

If Luciuk gets anytype of suspension I doubt Rockford will run him at all. Besides at this point they don't need to after scoring 11 goals on him.

lisa
Mon, 04/24/2006 - 11:04am

they have kind of tried in the previous two games. i thought it was quite funny that we were taking their guys out like they used to do to us. especially with michel going down like he did. way to go lucy!

Chad

Monkey,

Well, you know, we do get a little crazy back in the photo room when things don't go our way. That's why we are in our own little cave and the reporters leave us alone as much as possible.

Seriously, all I am saying is lets not jump on calling Jorde a bum for that one fight. He's a tough guy whether people want to believe it or not. The smart thing for Jorde to do is roll with it for the next couple of games. The K's cannot afford to have him in the box for 5-plus minutes at a time, and I'm sure Rockford will try to bait him and the others into it, especially with a 2-0 series lead. I'm certainly not suggesting that he look the other way when the blatant cheap shots come out either.

Do I know a little something about fighting? Maybe ... but that's a discussion for email rather than Blake's blog.
