Wow, one of the worse games by Dupuis I've seen, on video on at the Coliseum. His man beat him back to the net for both goals......please retire!!

Not sure what Columbus/Springfield are doing right now... They recalled Francis and the guy they had sent down to Reading of the ECHL. They also signed a tough guy to a PTO and currently have 27 skaters (not including goalies) on the Springfield roster; but only show 2 players injured right now...
Maybe Columbus is gearing up for a trade that involves several prospects or something like that. With 25 active players, your talking about sitting 6-7 players each night. That doesnt make sense to have that many developmental players just sitting in the stands every night... You would think you would want them to get all the playing time they can????

Blake (or anyone else who watched), can you weigh in on the Lardner/Granbois incident?
Was Lardners hit clean? I would think so from the penalty summary, since there was no penalty that would indicate a dirty hit; but would like to hear from somebody who saw the hit...
If it was a clean hit and Granbois just went nutty on Lardner, then I hope somebody sends a message early in tonights game to let others know that crap like that will have repercussions.... Schrock, Cescon, Molle...somebody needs to step up...

Under the Category: I DID NOT KNOW THAT!!!
I did not know that a player will be credited with a goal to be included in their season total of goals if that goal is the winning goal of a shootout. If one participates in the shootout and scores but that goal is not the defining winning goal the goal is not credited to that player's season total. Lardner scored the winning goal in the S/O last night and his season totals has been augmented by that goal.

JR, I didn't watch the game but listened to the BLM radio broadcast. Their announcer (whom I like and doesn't get "homey") said Granbois deserved the penalties he got, especially with the league enforcing the instigation rule. He also said BLM could try to petition the ref for a boarding call on Lardner (this was when the penalties were being announced) but he didn't think it would be do any good, the hit was borderline on the boarding.
waynesworld, I think awarding stats for shoot outs is ridiculous, but then again I think shoot outs are ridiculous to begin with....
I think this is new for CHL this season and maybe they're the only league doing it, not sure. I hope not because stats are something that should be universal with every league in the world. What if one of the leagues decided it was going to start giving two points for a goal and one for assists so the player who actually put the puck into the net gets more credit? Would eventually skew the stats to heck and back.

Thanks Steve...
I got a response from a Bloomy fan on FYC who was at the game and he thought the hit was legal...and Granbois just lost his cool... Sounds like Lardner really drilled him.
I will say it definitivly now that a Komet needs to go right at Grandbois tonight and send a message... Lardner is our leading goal scorer and guys need to know they cant just go after him...

If this is a new rule, it would be akin to awarding a "+" to those players on the ice during a goal on a PP and a "-" to those on the team being scored on. And that just ain't right. So I'd have to agree with Steven, may I call you Steven? No? Okay, then I'd have to agree with Steve that awarding a goal on a S/O is indeed ridiculous.

Letting the person getting the shoot-out winner add that to their goal total is crazy if only because it isn't fair to the earlier shooters. Sure, there is more pressure in the later rounds, but can't they just file it under "Player X has __ shootout winning goals" and leave it at that? It doesn't belong in the "overall goals scored" category.
